I haven’t been on in a while as lots going on but today I got my Panorama test results which put the baby at low risk (1

Loosemoose28 · 29/09/2017 17:48

I am in an area where there is specialised homebirth team. Their rates for first time mums are good and transfer rates are low. My friend is a midwife in the team and all of my discussions about birth have always been positive and empowering. Couldn't imagine getting in the car, walking through a bright lit corridor and getting onto a hospital bed with a midwife who didn't know me or my birth wishes. Obviously if hospital arises to be safer then of course I will go in. But all the time things stay low risk home it is for me.

Loosemoose28 · 29/09/2017 17:48

Also look at things such as the birth place study.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 29/09/2017 22:00

Anna gorgeous little bump!

Claire that hospital sounds appalling. I had both my babies at home (2 so far) and have no regrets at all. Am planning another homebirth with this one all being well. When I was pg with #1 DH was very apprehensive about having her at home - he deferred to me as a) the one who knew about it and b) the one doing it, but he wasn't wild about the idea. Once we'd done it he was a total convert and there was no question that we'd have #2 at home provided all low risk & healthy. Lots and lots of pros and very few cons (the cons people tend to cite don't apply a lot of the time IMO). Am going to bed now as exhausted but will happily answer any qus if you have any!

amysaurus87 · 30/09/2017 11:57

AnnaMadden you have the cutest bump! I cant wait until I'm past the 'Is she fat or pregnant' stage as at the moment i just look like I've eaten too much!

Has anyone started shopping for maternity clothes/new bras yet? I'm 11 weeks and aware that some of my clothes are starting to feel snug and bras by the end of the day are a torture device! Anyone got any recommendations for where to shop?

charlie0692 · 30/09/2017 13:33

Yep my clothes are starting to feel a bit tight too @amysaurus87 😩 I ordered some maternity jeans from topshop and they come yesterday, tried them on and they seem really comfy and have the elastic band at the top so should fit me for months to come ☺ also bought some non wired bras from matalan and they are so so comfy, cheap as well, think they were 2 for £9!! X

Loosemoose28 · 30/09/2017 16:31

In new bras. Mainly live in sport bras from sports direct so went a bought a couple next size up.

Got maternity jeans and then bought next size up normal leggings.

lisara79 · 30/09/2017 17:51

@amysaurus87 I know what you mean about clothes feeling like torture impliments... I made the mistake of wearing jeans yesterday... they have some stretch in but we're SO uncomfortable... my scan is on Wednesday so am going to wait until after that but I really need some maternity jeans, trousers and leggings. As I'm a size 20, maternity clothes are harder to find but think I'm going to switch between Next and Asda.... my friend also recommended Bon Prix and Peacocks for cheap basics.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 30/09/2017 18:54

lisa (and everyone!) just FYI - both previous successful pgs I've bought vests (just those plain, super cheap strappy ones) in a size or two bigger than usual, and just worn them under my normal t-shirts/jumpers - really good for that in-between stage when you're not really filling out proper maternity tops but all your normal stuff is riding up! Just thought I'd throw that out there Smile it's also a good system for if you bf after birth, and soooo much cheaper than buying loads of specific bf tops!

lisara79 · 30/09/2017 18:57

@fourfoeyouglencoco that's a great tip, thanks x

Littlebatcalledlucille · 30/09/2017 19:09

Hello, may I join?
I'm 10 weeks two days.

Ugh it feels like forever away!

amysaurus87 · 01/10/2017 08:00

Thanks for all the advice everyone! Think a wee shopping trip might be in order soon 😁😁

ally62442 · 01/10/2017 09:10

Morning ladies I’ve been so rubbish keeping in the loop with this thread. So every time I come on I have to do some major catching up. I can’t believe it’s the first of Oct today this year has flown. Which means if the next 6 months go as quick all of our babies will be here in no time!

For the past two days I had a metallic/blood taste in my mouth which I’m quite excited about as I’m sure I’ve read that it can be a sign that your having a boy. Which I’d love to happen. It’s probably just a side effect from getting over a stinking cold I’ve had.

I’ve made a really cute purchase this week.i got a gorgeous pregnancy planner from Hobby Craft. I never knew these kind of journals existed. It comes with stickers! 😂🙈 which I got excited about (small things) and lots really lovely pages for you to track everything about your pregnancy. I thought it would be really lovely for the baby to be able to look back on when they are grown.

ClaireBear1986 · 02/10/2017 11:08

Thanks for all the home birth advise ladies, it is really helpful :)

I'm 11 weeks, 3 days now and morning sickness seems to have struck with a vengeance. Going to try the ginger nut biscuit in the morning trick tomorrow.

Struggling to find maternity bras as well. I need a 32E at the moment, and Mothercare seem to be the only place that sell them. Was hoping to get a few cheaper ones from New Look, Matalan etc. But no luck.

How is everyone doing this week?

charlie0692 · 02/10/2017 11:22

Hey @ClaireBear1986 im a 32e too and ended up getting some non-wired bras from matalan, I've been living in them since I got them. They are so comfy, definitely recommend. They were 2 for £9 so really cheap x

ClaireBear1986 · 02/10/2017 11:27

I had a look online at Matalan, and couldn't find anything in a 32E. Will have to have another look though as 2 for £9 is a bargain :)

I paid £60 for 4 bras at Mothercare as I desperately needed them. My boobs are very sore, and I am not able to sleep without my bra on at the moment.

charlie0692 · 02/10/2017 11:43

I've bought cheap sports bras from primark and some expensive ones from Debenhams and I actually prefer the primark ones. I sleep in them every night. Too uncomfortable without a bra x

ClaireBear1986 · 02/10/2017 11:55

Been to loads of Primarks but can't find anything that fits.

Tbh I am wearing my Mothercare bra today, and it is soooo comfy. Had a good nights sleep in it too for the 1st time in weeks.

AnnaMadden · 02/10/2017 12:04

The sleeping bras in New Look are amazing and I can't sleep without them!

HarryHarry · 02/10/2017 22:44

Wish I was in the UK - everything is so expensive here!

On a more positive note, I got my scan photos! Here's the best one :)

Forgot to say: welcome to Littlebatcalledlucille and congratulations!

WonderfullySunny · 03/10/2017 06:18

@HarryHarry that's a fab picture!! I know what you mean about the cost, every visit here they want to take blood and urine and it's eye watering how much those are!

Welcome @Littlebatcalledlucille we're only one day apart on progress, do you have your scan date as yet?

I feel it's a milestone today, I've had to use a hairband through my trouser button as it's just too uncomfortable to do up the top button properly! I find if there's pressure on my stomach it makes me feel sick, anyone else?

AnnaMadden · 03/10/2017 09:10

Welcome @Littlebatcalledlucille.

What a lovely scan photo @HarryHarry! And yes, I can't have any pressure on my tummy either...makes me feel queezy!

Booking appointment with the midwife this morning so we'll see what that brings and second scan tomorrow.

Does anyone have any experience with water births? Seriously considering one this time round! 🤔

FourForYouGlenCoco · 03/10/2017 11:55

Harry that's an amazing scan picture! Poor you & sunny re the cost of things, I dread to think! Fun fact: it costs the NHS ~£3k for a normal, natural birth with no complications. It might not be perfect but I'm bloody glad I don't have to stump up that much just to have the baby in the first place!
Welcome littlebat, I'm only a few days ahead of you Smile

With DS I was in mat gear at 10w despite looking exactly the same as normal, purely because I couldn't cope with buttons etc digging in to me, made me feel so so ill! Still in normal clothes so far but looking forward to 12w scan so I can tell friends etc and switch to maternity trousers...dreaming of the comfortable-ness Grin still no bump or anything but I'm not going to let that stop me!
Currently feel a bit in limbo - the nausea has mostly gone, no bump, 12w scan isn't til next Thursday...I'm wondering if I've just made the whole thing up! But I did hear the baby's heartbeat on the Doppler yesterday which was so reassuring, things are ok in there for now at least. Can't wait to get past scan/into the 2nd tri...11+1 today and it still feels so far off!

Littlebatcalledlucille · 03/10/2017 12:10

Thank you ladies :)

Really WonderfullySunny? I'm due around the 27th

Its funny I have no sickness at all ive got a gut and my diddies feel like boulders.

That's a lovely scan photo!
