@Griffin252 sorry for your sad news x
@HarryHarry my symptoms have gone I feel absolutely fine other than being tired. I was worried and booked another scan for Monday just gone all was fine, 2 strong heartbeats. I'm 9 weeks today. Any little twinge, pain or loss of symptoms and I'm worrying x

AnnaMadden · 13/09/2017 21:06

Strange one but for the past 3 days I've been experiencing the rolling sensations of the first feelings of the baby moving/kicking. It's mainly been in the evening when I'm relaxing but today it happened a few times at work. Surely it's way too early? Hmm

Roxx1516 · 13/09/2017 21:47

Iv been feeling the exact same, I'm 11 weeks and can feel rolling movement especially when I'm relaxing but my mum reckons its to early to feel it moving but it must be the baby because I only get that feeling when pregnant x

charlie0692 · 14/09/2017 18:04

Anyone else feel like the countdown to the dating scan is going on forever 😩 12 more days!!!

Roxx1516 · 14/09/2017 22:18

Yes I feel like its taking forever iv got 5 weeks to go 😂🙁 Cant wait to find out tho x

amysaurus87 · 15/09/2017 08:18

Can anyone advise how long it takes to get appointments after a self referral? Basically my GP never sent my original referral to my local midwifery services, so I've had to self refer. I'm 9weeks and a little worried that I haven't even seen a midwife yet!

AnnaMadden · 15/09/2017 08:39

I had to self refer as that's standard practice where I live. My appointment for my scan came through first after about a week and a half which is for next week...so about 3 weeks after I referred. Then my booking appointment isn't until the 2nd of Oct...I'll be 13 weeks or so by then! They did contact me by text first to say they'd received my referral though.

Roxx1516 · 15/09/2017 12:45

They wait until you've had your 12 week scan now apparently, I'm due to have my 12 weeks scan soon and they said once iv had the scan done that I need to contact my doctors to make an appointment with the midwife. So I'm guessing they don't see you till about 13 weeks ish now ?x

amysaurus87 · 15/09/2017 14:02

Good news! Got in from work today midwife appointment is 4 Oct and first scan is 9 Oct...I'm so excited!!!! Grin

ClaireBear1986 · 15/09/2017 15:09

Hi all,

Had my private early scan done yesterday and was 9 weeks exactly.
The gave me a due date of 19th April.

Obviously I know that this is likely to change slightly at my 12 week scan, but looking like I will be joining the April 2018 club with you all :)

This is my 1st baby, and I am very very excited!!! So I'll apologise now for all the silly questions that are likely to come from me. Ha

AnnaMadden · 15/09/2017 15:22

Congratulations @ClaireBear1986 and welcome to the April club. No question is a silly question so ask away Grin

ClaireBear1986 · 15/09/2017 15:38

Thanks @AnnaMadden.

When are you due?

It's all very exciting, but then I remember its another 7 months away still and it feels like a lifetime!!

Islingtonmom2017 · 15/09/2017 15:53

Hi ladies! I'm due around 23 April 2018.

Currently having morning sickness all DAY! Have been trying to chew on anything ginger :) Tried the morning sickness bands too..

I have contacted the hospital to get an appointment booked in. It's taking them a while...

AnnaMadden · 15/09/2017 16:54

@ClaireBear1986 by my dates around the 9th of April but have my scan on Tues to confirm. Really looking forward to that as I'm seem to be convinced something is wrong all the time so it will be good to put my mind at rest and hopefully start enjoying being pregnant 😁

Loosemoose28 · 15/09/2017 19:58

@ Roxx so who has councillled you about screening for Downs syndrome? A midwife should be making contact with you to talk about screening, checking your taking folic acid and advising diet etc

Loosemoose28 · 15/09/2017 19:59

The last two days this sickness has not gone. Only been sick once but constantly retching and gagging, its draining me now.

Roxx1516 · 15/09/2017 21:06

@loosemoose28. I had my booking appointment at the hospital the other day and the midwife asked if I was taking folic acid and said if I'm not to contact my doctor, as for the screening I'm guessing that will happen when I go for my 12 week scan? I got told at my booking appointment that once iv had my 12 week scan I then need to contact my doctors surgery and make an appointment with a midwife there, and that's when the midwife will check my scan went ok and do any tests that need to be done i hope x

roguenation · 15/09/2017 21:31

Hi Ladies
Very new to this site and I found out I was pregnant at 3 and a half weeks!!
I'm officially 8 weeks tomorrow and will be due at the end of April 2018.
I've got my first midwife appointment on Monday Grin does anyone have any experience of what to expect?

Loosemoose28 · 15/09/2017 22:30

@roguenation

Its looking like everyone is different. But you will get a list if questions to answer about health and wellbeing. Advice given.
Bloods taken. Discuss your 12 week scan. A tonne of leaflets. And your "notes" with all your info in. And who to call with any problems.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 15/09/2017 22:43

Welcome and congrats Claire, islington and rogue!

rogue first appt is basically getting a picture of you, medically speaking - any conditions which could affect you during pregnancy, any genetic conditions in yours or your partners family which could affect baby, previous pregnancies, etc etc. She will probably do the healthy eating/folic acid/staying active spiel. You'll most likely have some bloods taken, which check your blood type, iron levels, the presence of a few infectious diseases, and I believe a couple of genetic conditions. You might get your handheld notes, or they might send them on to the hospital and you'll get them after your scan. She'll want a wee sample too, so either take one or go needing a wee (not desperate - the sample pots are tiny, you only need a dribble!)
It's fairly comprehensive and v important for the mw, but not massively exciting for you tbh! The first scan is a much bigger deal imo Smile

As for me, I have a private early scan tomorrow afternoon and I am shitting it. Have had 2 mmc and scans are just not a fun experience for me, at all. I just need to know either way so if things have gone wrong I can deal with it asap, and if things are ok I can relax a minuscule bit. Will be 8+6. Feel sick with nerves and general nausea!

lisara79 · 15/09/2017 23:38

@fourforyouglencoco Good luck tomorrow. fx it's perfect for you. I had one last Sunday and I was terrified too. x

roguenation · 16/09/2017 07:47

Thank you ladies for the advice!
I'm excited to get things kicking off, it feels like I've waiting for ages to get this midwife appointment lol
Good luck with your private scan! I managed to book one for tomorrow too as I'll be 8+1 but so worried that because I've got no symptoms I'm hoping there is still a baby in there!

TeaAndToast85 · 16/09/2017 08:00

Hello everybody. I have my 8 week scan at 11am this morning, and I am absolutely terrified! I know I am supposed to be excited, and I sort of am, but my brain keeps going over 'what ifs' and really upsetting me. Has anybody else had this 'scanxiety' yet? I know I am probably a bit daft wasting £££ on private scan this early, but I'm hoping it will put my mind at rest...

roguenation · 16/09/2017 09:00

Hi TeaandToast85!

I think it's completely normal. I'm in the same boat as you and have mine tomorrow, just need to put my mind at rest but also to know whether I'm having twins as they run in both families Smile

I hope you're scan goes well and keep us updated!

TeaAndToast85 · 16/09/2017 12:32

Hi @roguenation Smile just got back, feeling so tired because as soon as we found out everything was looking ok, all the stress and fear just turned to tiredness! So happy though. Here is my picture...turns out I'm 4 days behind what I thought I was, baby is due 30th April 2018. There's not much to see in the pic, but here it is anyway!
