Well this morning sucked. Measuring only 6w 1d and there is an irregular heartbeat. So much for reassurance before we go on holiday!

Booked in for a rescan in 2 weeks but the sonographer didn't really sound hopeful, I understand she doesn't want me to get my hopes up or misinform me, but that doesn't fill me with hope for the week ahead. I feel these next two weeks will be the slowest yet. And a miscarriage in Italy is not what I need.

lisara79 · 02/09/2017 12:00

@griffin252 Sorry your scan didn't give you the reassurance you wanted. Fingers crossed all will be ok when you're back off holiday. It's always so difficult to know when they don't really give you a context... x

WonderfullySunny · 02/09/2017 14:44

@Griffin252 what did the sonographer say? I'm sorry it's happened just before holidays, try and leave the thoughts here and let Italy just be a holiday so you can try and relax.

Griffin252 · 02/09/2017 15:18

She said she is sitting on the fence, it could go either way. It was her tone and sympathetic face that told me more than her words. She didn't really say anything at all until we asked if it was normal, and she said not really.

I'm going to try and enjoy holiday and if the worst happens I'll take it as a positive that I've been able to prepare myself and it obviously wasn't meant to be this time.

ally62442 · 02/09/2017 16:08

Well last night went fine and I managed to blag my way through not drinking! They were all quite merry anyway by the time I got there which helped as they didn't realise I was only drinking Pepsi straight away. We told my partners family this morning and his Aunty got soo emotional. She doesn't have children of her own and see's my partner as her own son. So she is looking at this baby as a grandchild.

After contacting one of my brides that I'm having to cancel on I have heard absolutely nothing back. Bit surprising as I need to refund there deposit, so need them to send me details.

@Griffin252 I'm sorry to hear your scan didn't go too well.

CaffeineBomb · 02/09/2017 18:15

Griffin sorry to hear your scan didn't give you the reassurance you wanted will keep my fingers crossed everything is well

Loosemoose28 · 02/09/2017 20:54

@griffin. Oh I am sorry the scan has raised so many what ifs for you. We are all here for you if needed. Equally that scan in 2 weeks may just be fine and you are indeed earlier than you thought.

@amysaurus we currently have the same due date!!

Loosemoose28 · 02/09/2017 20:57

@ally not drinking is my hardest thing a. We regulary go to neighbours house and for now I am using a diet excuse. I have been away and have gained weight so will see how long that excuse can be dragged out for!!

ScarletSienna · 02/09/2017 21:14

Oh #Griffin252, so sorry your scan wasn't reassuring. I didn't get reassurance in my other pregnancy when I had a big bleed at around 11-12 weeks ish. They just don't want anyone to say, 'but you led me to believe it would be fine'. Really hope it will steady itself Flowers

HarryHarry · 02/09/2017 22:00

Griffin I'm sorry to hear about the irregular heartbeat. Did the sonographer say how slow/fast it was? Regarding the size - is it possible that you might have been wrong about your dates?

I know how horrible it is to be worrying about miscarrying while overseas or even worse, on the plane, as I'm far away from home myself at the moment and still bleeding every day.

Hope that you enjoy your holiday as much as you can and come back to good news x

YorkieDorkie · 02/09/2017 22:02

Checking in Brew

Griffin252 · 02/09/2017 22:27

Thanks everyone for your support!

Yeah she said the heartbeat was something like 53 and 72 so average of 63, which is super low! Or so google tells me. I read somewhere that there's a 85%-95% chance of miscarriage. Bloody google is the devil.

Dates could potentially be wrong, my last period was a pill period. We conceived immediately, so fingers crossed it might just be that. It is worrying being away from home, I'm just hoping for the best right now, at least until after our holiday. I Will fill you all in on how it progresses.

Glad to hear everyone else is doing okay, accept the bleeding. Such a scary time.

WonderfullySunny · 03/09/2017 07:08

@Griffin252 perhaps if you are earlier it makes sense the heart beat would be lower as it is just starting up. Will be keeping everything crossed for you lovely.

I woke up in the middle of the night with a horrible sore throat and took a few sprays of betadine, one of those sprays that numbs you throat. Belatedly realised to check it online this morning and it says it's a huge no no for pregnant women as it can cause foetal abnormalities. Feeling bloody awful right now, how could I have been so stupid!!

ally62442 · 03/09/2017 11:48

@WonderfullySunny I would try and not to worry too much about using the spray. I'm sure it must mean excessive use could cause some damage. An you won't be using it again so I'm sure you will be ok.

Has anyone been thinking about cute/fun ideas of how to reveal they are pregnant on fb and Instagram etc (If you have them).

I've been looking at some ideas on Pinterest and I absolutely love Halloween so I've seen this idea which I think I'm going to do. As it will be near that time that I'll feel comfy sharing the news.

lisara79 · 03/09/2017 12:25

@ally62442 my friend used Halloween... they carved 2 pumpkins... one with a foetus image and another saying "we're pregnant"... they got a really good reaction... I'm prob not gonna announce on Facebook as have 2 friends and a brother who are struggling to conceive... I'm gonna be boring and just send scan photos through WhatsApp...

ScarletSienna · 03/09/2017 16:25

@Griffin and @Harry, how are you both?

I'm far less nauseous today which of course makes me worry rather than feel glad. I'm 8 weeks today from when I ovulated and 9 weeks from LMP (I had 45 day irregular cycles so going from ovulation).

Griffin252 · 03/09/2017 17:01

Thanks for asking @ScarletSienna I don't really know how I feel. Yesterday I was basically in the mind frame it's over and was preparing for that but today I called our local midwife and explained the situation, she said the sonographer shouldn't have told me a heart rate that early on as it's all so uncertain at this stage. She said a heartbeat is a heartbeat and try not to worry.

So to be honest my head is all over the place!

Griffin252 · 03/09/2017 17:04

@ScarletSienna glad you aren't so nauseous today, but I totally understand how lack of symptoms can make you worry. It's what made me book my early Scan. Nausea does come and go though doesn't it, I would say hopefully it comes back again but I guess that isn't a good thing either!!

ScarletSienna · 03/09/2017 17:27

I'm surprised they said anything about the heartbeat pattern and really hope that it's just that you're fewer weeks than thought. I have a scan booked for the Thursday after next and first midwife appointment the week after on the Friday.

Griffin252 · 03/09/2017 18:27

Me too. Fingers crossed it is. I'm nervous about Italy and not knowing if I will start bleeding though.
Good luck with your scan and appointment. Have you had any scans or anything yet?

HarryHarry · 03/09/2017 19:14

ScarletSienna Still spotting light pink, once a day, every day, in very small amounts. I have no other symptoms except vague nausea (which might be in my head) and a little bit of stretching/cramping. My belly also looks a bit more rounded, unless I'm imagining that too!

ScarletSienna · 03/09/2017 19:37

@Griffin I've not had any scans or appointments yet. The midwives don't see anyone until 8-10 weeks and I've booked a Panorama test which the scan will be before so needed to wait until 9 weeks. The first trimester is so stressful.

@Harry that sounds positive that the spotting is slowing down. I think I imagine symptoms too! Have you got any appointments booked?

Loosemoose28 · 03/09/2017 20:18

Well Inhave spent a good few hours looking at the loo- now in bed with a bucket. However nothing ever comes up its just retching. Not sure whats worse actually vomitting or this retching.
It does mean all this crap I am eating (mainly bread) is staying in. I tried some chicken, potatoes and a load of frozen veg tonight, could not handle the veg.
Salad tastes just weird. Getting annoyed as what ever I can eat isn't really healthy and SW well and truely out the window!

HarryHarry · 03/09/2017 20:19

My first appointment is 2 weeks after I get back. I hate waiting so long!

Loosemoose28 · 03/09/2017 20:24

In terms of pregnancy announcement I will do something with the dogs in it. They really are my first babies. Always will be.

I think one of them has clocked something going on now as keeps laying his head on my tummy- he is quite sensitive so either he knows there is a baby or senses I am just sick. They have only just started to lay with me on the sofa again- from when I POAS until the beginning of this week they were laying on the floor or with OH. They have always been very much my dogs and we had a 4 year period when it was just me and the dogs so I know the laying on the floor thing is abnormal for them as always very cuddly.
