Hi everyone. Blood has now turned red. I am preparing myself for the worst. I got to The Portland and they explained there had been a mistake made by London Gynaecology (who I booked the appointment through). The scan unit was not open. They said they were incredibly sorry. I have been crying all the way home. The consultant called me and apologised profusely and offered me a free consultation at 4pm tomorrow. I am going to The Whittington tomorrow at 8am then might go to Portland for a second opinion, (apparently he is one of the best in the UK). Dr Raj told me not to give up hope but this has been the hardest few days I have ever had. I just want some kind of closure.

FairfaxAikman · 28/08/2017 17:18

Keep your chin up Islington. Hoping for the best for you.

I had my first day back at work following a two week holiday (found out at start of holiday).

Worried I may have to tell them early.

Not only was I dog tired by 3pm, but there was talk of sending me up in a sodding micro lite and of doing an extreme-sports-swing-suspended-from-a-bridge-over-a-river-gorge thing!

ScarletSienna · 28/08/2017 17:39

@FairfaxAikman are you actually Bridget Jones? That sounds like what she had to do Grin

ScarletSienna · 28/08/2017 17:41

@IslingtonHels what an awful few days for you. It's all hard but made worse by it being bank holiday and not being able to get any answers Flowers

CaffeineBomb · 28/08/2017 20:32

@Islingtonhels what a hellish few days. The worst may not be happening so try to stay positive but, if the worst was to happen do NOT blame yourself. It is a myth that stress causes miscarriages, this is also stated on the NHS website. I'm keeping everything crossed for you FlowersCake

WonderfullySunny · 29/08/2017 05:53

@IslingtonHels how are you doing this morning?

I'm 5+6 today, does anyone else feel constantly shattered?

WonderfullySunny · 29/08/2017 05:55

@FairfaxAikman they should have to do a pregnancy based risk assessment for you so may have to tell your HR. Sounds like you've got a pretty fun job though!! My work are asking me to go out and supervise boat works in about a months time...not keen!

ally62442 · 29/08/2017 08:03

@WonderfullySunny I'm constantly tired 😴 when I'm not at work I'm generally napping. I have quite a busy lifestyle any way. So I'm struggling tbh. All I want to do is sleep.

Hope it goes ok this morning @IslingtonHels

FPAN · 29/08/2017 09:04

I'd like to join please :)

Baby number 2 due April 27th 2018.

My first son has just turned 3.

So excited and it's killing me not being able to talk about it constantly.

My boobs are SOOO painful this time!!

X

FPAN · 29/08/2017 09:10

Just been catching up on some of the thread, so sorry for what you are going through @IslingtonHels I hope things went your way this morning. Xxx

GlitterRollerSkate · 29/08/2017 09:41

Thinking of you @IslingtonHels hoping it's good news for you.

I've booked a doctors appointment for later this morning. The cramping is getting worse and I have pains in my back. The spotting is still very light. So hoping for good news also. Not really sure what going to the gp will achieve only going as I don't have a midwife yet and am driving my self mad with worry.

@FPAN congratulations and welcome :)

WonderfullySunny · 29/08/2017 09:41

Welcome @FPAN and congratulations, we're on two days different on due dates I'm on 25th April. Did you have sore boobs the first time round? Hope it doesn't last too long for you!

dowhatyouwish · 29/08/2017 09:51

Congrats and welcome @FPAN

Is anyone else around 6 weeks and constantly hungry and falling asleep soon after 8/9pm ish. I was so looking forward to watching the Cuckoo's Calling last night before you know I was fast asleep.

Hi ladies,

May I join please?

DP and I are both 34 and we have only started trying properly in July. Just two weekends ago, we finally set a wedding date after being engaged for nearly a year. As I accepted a permanent position a couple of months ago, we thought this would be a good time to start trying. I thought due to my age, we would take at least 6 months to get a BPF. However, I fell pregnant after just two cycles of TTC. I didn't even test until my period was 7 days late and I was having unusual symptoms such as not coping with a 5k run and feeling very tired. It came as a bit of a surprise that I am now 5+5, due date on 26/4/18.

Thing is, we have set our wedding date for the second weekend of June. Am I cutting it too close? I honestly don't mind having to rush and buy a wedding dress at the last possible moment, just don't want to delay the wedding any further.

Also, how are you ladies coping with pregnancy symptoms? I'm very tired (slept almost 11 hours last night and still tired when I woke up this morning) and feeling nauseous and off food. Usually, I love my food, but everything seems to taste rather bland and nasty at the moment. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks.

FPAN · 29/08/2017 10:24

Thanks @WonderfullySunny and @dowhatyouwish

My boobs did hurt last time but no where near as much as this time!!

How are you feeling?
X

ally62442 · 29/08/2017 10:25

Welcome @FPAN and @neuronalmatter I'm 6+6 today and constantly tired. I don't think it's meant to get any better until after the first trimester unfortunately.

Shanners123 · 29/08/2017 11:23

Welcome all! I'm 8 weeks today and the nausea is still going strong, although I find that eating small amounts often (even when nauseous) definitely helps. Hormones seem to be calming slightly, but always tired! Made myself go for a short hike yesterday and felt great after. Was worried I wouldn't be able to do it but know how important exercise is. So I deffs recommend peeling yourself off the sofa when you can for a quick walk or something similar.
I'm worried about finances.. Maternity pay is shockingly bad! Mums with kids already, how on earth did you do it? And how long did you take off?

Hi all. I had my scan today. The bleeding was unidentified, but sadly the baby was too small and had no heartbeat. I have to wait 2 weeks for the second scan to confirm the baby has passed away, then arrange a termination.
You are a lovely bunch on here and I wish you and your bumps a healthy, happy pregnancy. Thank you for the support you gave me when I needed it. Jumping off these boards now so apologies, I will not be replying xx

ScarletSienna · 29/08/2017 11:36

@IslingtonHels Flowers
I'm so sorry to read your sad news. Sending love.

ScarletSienna · 29/08/2017 11:42

@Shanners123 re maternity pay, it's tough especially with all the baby groups you feel you should join. I soon realised I didn't need to go to them all and that it is cheaper to go as a family swimming than to book baby swimming lessons and that babies do not need sensory classes etc. I found one group I liked and paid for that but then stopped the others and invited people over or went to the park etc. We plan our meals and shopping a lot more and I have bought some things second hand.

I also wasted a lot of money I think. For example, we bought a mamas and papas set of nursery furniture. The cot is great as it turned into a bed but we really didn't need the wardrobe and changing table/set of drawers; we could have got just standard ones from IKEA! I also have spent too much on clothes, especially baby ones. So many people buy clothes as gifts and they only really need sleep suits so I could have saved money there too!

lisara79 · 29/08/2017 12:03

@islingtonhels so sorry to hear this. We are all thinking of you xx

ally62442 · 29/08/2017 12:12
