@ValentineFizz it's not the airline that's the issue - it's the insurance companies most of whom won't cover you after 28 wks.

Bobbiepin · 02/08/2017 11:46

@ew from what I understand it works a little like a vaccination. There are proteins on your blood cells that determine if you are positive or negative. Positive blood can't be mixed with negative blood, that's why you can't give O+ blood to someone who is O-. The rhesus factor (+/-) is determined by the father so it can be different for the baby than it is for the mother. For a first baby there is no problem with it but the mother's body is exposed to the baby's blood it starts to develop antibodies. This means that first baby will be fine but if you were to get pregnant again, your body would attack the new baby and cause you to miscarry. I think there's also a risk to you with any subsequent prrgnancy but the anti-D injection stops the antibodies from being developed.

Does that make sense? I'm not a doctor but that's what I understand from it.

Yes thank you!! That's how they explained it but in much harder words, it was the next pregnancy thing I didn't understand. X

Hi ladies! 28 weeks tomorrow here with a little boy! For the lady needing travel insurance, try Ravenhall. Expensive but specialist for pregnancy. I'm going camping to a music festival in Germany in 2 weeks so need to use them for mine. Camping. Ugh. I hated bloody camping before I was the size of a small country 😂😂

ew1990 · 02/08/2017 18:34

Girls I feel so exhausted - just done day 5 out of 6 in a row at work 😔 had my 25 week appointment today everything was good she just had to send my urine off to be tested properly she thinks I've got a water infection x

mrsjkerry · 02/08/2017 19:09

Is anyone else worried about the glucose tolerance test?? I'm so anxious about not being able to eat for 12 hours before. I will be vomiting up bile if I can't eat as soon as I wake up...

OP posts:
ew1990 · 02/08/2017 19:20

How come you have to have that test? Is it something to do with bmi? It's never been mentioned to me but no way could I go 12 hours without eating!

mrsjkerry · 02/08/2017 19:36

No i think it's because my dad has diabetes!

ew1990 · 02/08/2017 19:49

Oh right! I hope it goes well for you xx

TheLionQueen1 · 02/08/2017 20:21

Will they book you in with an early morning app MrsJ? I haven't had it but a friend did and she said the hospital were fab, as she also had morning sickness and back pain and in the wait in between they let her lie down in another room as she wasn't feeling well and they were brilliant. I'm sure they'll look after you really well, as they must be used to us pregnant woman and sickness etc! Good luck and fingers crossed for you!

Missonhartbaby · 02/08/2017 22:16

I didn't have a glucose test either?! Is it not something that is always done then? I had my midwife appt today and got to hear his heartbeat, the midwife said he's super strong as he did keep kicking her as she she was getting his heart beat haha! I'm measuring at 30 weeks although I'm only just 29 weeks so I'm scared he's going to be a massive baby!!

ew1990 · 02/08/2017 22:18

@Missonhartbaby today she said she could feel a limb sticking out while she was feeling and said she was kicking when probe was on as heart rate went up. My midwife said she doesn't measure till 28 weeks.

I saw this picture and had to share

Ew that's brilliant. I saw the midwife today too, baby kept squirming away from the doppler but heartbeat and everything else is good. She's right on the top of the growth chart, apparently not much to take note of now but I bet she's gonna be massive!

ew1990 · 02/08/2017 23:10

I was hoping midwife would measure me this time but she had a feel and said uterus seems the right size so not to worry. Xx

bipolarbunny · 02/08/2017 23:13

Hi @WaitingTillJuly17 - I have had all the same symptoms you describe, all sounds very normal. My nausea and vomiting has just gone up ten notches, in week 8 now. X

ew1990 · 02/08/2017 23:15

@SammyW1977 hi! Welcome to the group

mrsjkerry · 03/08/2017 06:14

@Bobbiepin my baby moves away too! Every time she tries to hide 🙄 whenever something is placed on stomach. She'll be kicking and then if my husband tries to feel she'll stop!! Very shy baby

OP posts:
mrsjkerry · 03/08/2017 06:15

@Missonhartbaby no it's only if there's diabetes in your family I think...

lydiangel83 · 03/08/2017 06:38

@ew1990 loving that pic lol. I feel like I have the body of a baby elephant at the moment!

THirdEeye · 03/08/2017 09:20

I'm having the glucose test next week; no history of diabetes in the family but I'm mixed race so was told l needed one by my midwife.

SammyW1977 · 03/08/2017 09:36

With the GTT it's done early if you have diabetes in your family (I had one at 14 weeks because my dad was diabetic) I have to have another one next week at 28 weeks because I'm classed as overweight. Apparently age is a factor too as I'm 39. All good fun, eh? It's just boring waiting around for so long...

mrsjkerry · 03/08/2017 09:42

Hmm I am not overweight my BMI was normal. They said they'd do it because of my dad having diabetes so I guess each hospital is different! I don't mind waiting around it's the not eating that is going to kill me!!!

OP posts:
Littlelouse · 03/08/2017 10:21

Think the GTT is done for a number of reasons. I'm having one because I have PCOS.

MSH2010 · 03/08/2017 14:01

I had the gtt done early as I was showing signs in my urine. It's nothing to worry about
