missionhartbaby I would love to use the birthday pool at the hospital if possible! We can't have a birthing pool at home due to the private water supply. And I think my OH would freak. He may have calves hundreds of cows and lambed thousands of sheep but a human is different.

Icantthinkofastupidname · 01/08/2017 10:42

I got a sanggol pillow, was fine at first, but it goes flat pretty quickly, have to fluff it up every night. It's also huge! My sister has just given me a dreamgenii one, so I'm going to try that instead.

I quite like the idea of the birthing pool, but a) there's only one at my hospital and b) I do have a low pain threshold and I think you're only allowed gas and air in them, so I'm not sure I'd be able to cope! I will hopefully give it a try tho if it is available when I go on.

mrsjkerry · 01/08/2017 11:11

I really really want a birthing pool. But I know that it's totally dependent on if there's one free at the time you go into labour. So I'm not holding out much hope...I'd buy one and bring with me, but again, they'd need a room to put it in surely? And I can't bear the thought of giving birth at home. I want doctors around me and nearby!

Lydia, I tuck one but over my shoulder, one between my leg the either wrap it round the front or back, wherever the pain is!

Our birthing plan is a water birth in a MW led centre, got an NCT water birth course soon as well!

Missonhartbaby · 01/08/2017 12:42

I haven talked about my birthing plan at all yet with a midwife... Hopefully we can to tomorrow at my 28 wk appt (although I'm 29 wks today haha) but I've heard lots of good things about a birthing pool, I do think alot of the time they dont have them avaliable though which is a shame. I want my to do with as little pain relief as possible... Ideally just gas and air but who knows how Il handle the pain!!!
And yea I definitely want a birthing pool at the hospital not at home... That would be way too scary!!

ew1990 · 01/08/2017 16:11

Hi girls, I'm currently at labour ward waiting for my anti D injection. I had a proper bang to belly this afternoon 😢

mrsjkerry · 01/08/2017 16:36

What happened @ew1990

OP posts:
ew1990 · 01/08/2017 16:41

I was trying to close my retractable umbrella and it shot back out and the handle went right in my stomach,

I'm rhesus negative so I had to be checked over, everything fine though they listened to heartbeat for a while.

mrsjkerry · 01/08/2017 17:06

Ouch that must have been a panic!

OP posts:
ew1990 · 01/08/2017 17:42

It was, just glad everything's alright won't be using that umbrella again

TheLionQueen1 · 01/08/2017 18:17

Hope you're feeling ok Ew Flowers Think I'll stick to my waterproof moving forward not brolly, hearing that!

ew1990 · 01/08/2017 18:28

I'm fine, was just worried, they said not to worry baby is well cushioned just had to get checked coz of blood type. But I hate needles it was horrible having that injection lol

How are you girls planning to count kicks? Mine hasn't got a pattern yet she just seems to kick all the time but more so when I've just eaten or I'm sat down x

TheLionQueen1 · 01/08/2017 19:00

I'm not going to count as such as I am exactly the same as you, he moves constantly (I can see him sticking out my belly now, it's gross!) and I can't really pick a pattern up!

If I didn't feel him within a few hours then I would follow the advice online about sugary/cold drink and lying down and counting the amount of kicks in a few hours but fortunately I've not had to do that.

30 weeks today, feels mad that tomorrow I can say there are less than 10 weeks left!

ew1990 · 01/08/2017 19:07

I'm only 25 week so don't think I have to start counting just yet.

Isn't it scary how fast it's going?

TheLionQueen1 · 01/08/2017 21:14

So scary!! I thought it would drag and at the moment it's flying by! I think the last few weeks will drag once mat leave has started and it gets super uncomfortable!

lydiangel83 · 01/08/2017 21:24

It is mad I'm 27 wks tomorrow. I'm not counting kicks yet and have no idea re birthing plan. Still not sure I've got my head around it all!

Got a load of negative responses from separate thread about flying at 32 weeks. My travel insurance doesn't cover me and we want to go to family wedding in Italy in September. Looking at specialist cover for me will cost £30 which I think is ok but loads of people saying not worth the risk. It's only Italy, not the Far East! Am I being too casual?!!

Missonhartbaby · 01/08/2017 22:19

@lydia I think flying would be fine! There's no risk in flying it's just in case you went into early labour on the plane. Which if everything in your pregnancy has been fine you aren't exactly high risk for that! I would go for it to be honest. And at least you can get some insurance for it!

Missonhartbaby · 01/08/2017 22:22

And @ew I'm glad everything is OK! I've had a few whacks to the belly but nothing that I've been concerned about, sounds like it was quite a sharp jab though!! Are you consultant led then if your rhesus negative?

ew1990 · 01/08/2017 22:30

@Missonhartbaby no midwife lead, it won't cause problems (hopefully) just have to have an anti d injection at 28 weeks (and if I ever have a bang - like today, or vaginal bleeding) and I think I have to have one after birth too.

The midwife today said it's not a risk to this baby but could be to next baby (if I have one). Something to do with anti bodies. It's all dead confusing to me x

mrsjkerry · 01/08/2017 23:12

I think you're supposed to count after 28 weeks. To be honest I don't know how that'll work with me. I only ever feel baby after dinner and only a couple of movements...

I've no idea about this blood thing no one ever said anything to me. Checking my notes mine is RH D positive...whatever that means!

OP posts:
lydiangel83 · 02/08/2017 01:52

Thanks @Missonhartbaby was starting to think I was crazy but I don't think I am!

@ew1990 hope you're ok xx

@mrsjkerry I'm also rh negative I knew you needed one injection didn't know about others or about extra care needed if knocked. I also am midwife led care. If you're rh d positive then nothing to worry about :) I don't fully understand but what @ew1990 said sounds right!

lydiangel83 · 02/08/2017 01:52

Oops sorry didn't mean to bold all that!

Bobbiepin · 02/08/2017 03:57

Oh @ew I hope you're both ok! Don't fret about the injection, hopefully its not too bad. If you want I think I know how the whole rhesus thing works if you want me to explain it?

ew1990 · 02/08/2017 07:54

@Bobbiepin yes please, they did explain but it was in a way that I didn't understand, I need layman terms lol x

ValentineFizz · 02/08/2017 10:28

@lydia I would say if you feel well then go to the wedding, you will just need to check if your airline would want doctors letter as I think most do after 28 weeks but if you are well then l would go for it!

@ew1990 I have downloaded the "count the kicks" app but it suggests you record sessions of movement as opposed to each individual movement, and I find that a bit confusing. My MW was very vocal about monitoring movement however I think it's from 28 weeks - I'm 25+6 just now and as I understand it baby is just settling into routines at this stage. I think it's going to prove quite stressful, but main point MW made was to trust in gut instinct and if something doesn't feel right then get checked out.....
