I think someone posted a pic a while ago on how to dress a new born (what layers etc), has anyone got a copy of it please? Reviewing what we have and feeling a bit clueless!

ScotsLamb · 17/09/2017 11:21

Hi @lydia, l found this quite helpful:

www.tesco-baby.com/baby/family-life-baby/guide-baby-clothes/

TheLionQueen1 · 17/09/2017 13:24

@lydiangel83 it's a long sleeve baby grow basically!

TheLionQueen1 · 17/09/2017 13:26

That link is fab @ValentineFizz !

Also recommend signing up to Emma's Diary, I don't remember doing it but keep getting sent big packets of wet wipes and nappies etc!

mrsjkerry · 17/09/2017 15:12

@Julesbegone no...my HR person said that if I take my maternity leave on the first day of the new half term then the week holiday won't count and I don't have to go in...
I don't have a timetable either! So I am very very bored. I'm planning schemes of work which means sitting in front of a computer all day. Guess they thought it wasn't fair to give the kids a teacher for just six weeks 😏

OP posts:
Julesbegone · 17/09/2017 15:42

@mrsjkerry I wish I was bored. I'm desperately trying to put things in place for my year group when I leave, constantly sorting out stupid squabbles and because I'm not teaching, everyone seems to think I must have nothing to do and 'wonder' if I'd like to 'help' with x, y or z!

I also feel like the resident counsellor as I can mainly be found in my office and can't escape from people and their woes.

I wonder if that will be the same for me - they haven't said if I have to physically go in on the 30th or not - might ask tomorrow! When is baby actually due?

mrsjkerry · 17/09/2017 15:51

If you take your maternity leave with effect from 30 October then that will be day one. You shouldn't have to go in. And half term technically wouldn't count.

My baby is due 9 November. Praying she comes earlier, but I've been doing hypnobirthing so also well aware that baby knows best and will come when she's ready 😄

Julesbegone · 17/09/2017 16:00

Oh...exactly the same due date! I'm also in the hypnobirthing crowd: final session is next Saturday. How have you found it?

We also start NCT tomorrow evening, which I think I'm looking forward to Hmm

32+3 today and have walked about 5k this morning as trying to keep active but literally now feel like I'm 90 and ache so much! Getting slower every time due to the constant bladder pressure too so I'll admit, I too would prefer this baby to come out before rather than after 9th Nov.

mrsjkerry · 17/09/2017 16:18

I haven't started any sessions. I read the book and listened to the CDs. I'll start the sessions next Monday.
I started NCT a few weeks back but to be honest my group are a bit rubbish. It's supposed to be a great place to make friends in the area but people aren't very friendly at mine...my friend on the other hand has a great experience and never stops talking to the mum's in her group.

TheLionQueen1 · 17/09/2017 16:26

I didn't bother with NCT as it was so expensive, but did 2 nhs sessions and the girls were lovely, have already met up with them twice.

Julesbegone · 17/09/2017 16:46

Great to hear about your NHS experience @TheLionQueen1. My midwife didn't even give me the option, just said 'you'll be doing NCT so best book that asap' at my booking in appointment. I was a bit like Confused okay best book that then.

I've absolutely loved hypnobirthing @mrsjkerry so I hope you enjoy your first session. I was dreading it being all hemp seeds and kaftans but actually, we're with a totally normal bunch of people.

ValentineFizz · 17/09/2017 19:35

I found it really helpful @LionQueen as my mum kept going on about vests and sleepsuits and I was totally clueless! 😁😲

Another 9th November due date here @mrsjkerry and @jules, I too am hoping baba shows before then as consultant has indicated that l will be strongly encouraged to have induction on the 9th due to being 40 and first timer.... 😮

lydiangel83 · 17/09/2017 20:57

Thanks @ValentineFizz that is very helpful!!

@TheLionQueen1 I signed up for Emma's Diary and have received nothing?!

Julesbegone · 17/09/2017 21:03

Lydia you need download the vouchers and collect your Emma's Diary packs from Boots

lydiangel83 · 17/09/2017 21:20

I did download and got the packs from Argos but nothing has been delivered @ValentineFizz @TheLionQueen1

TheLionQueen1 · 17/09/2017 21:25

I didn't have to pick anything up from boots, I just get sent little things now and then, sure it's from Emma's diary! I've had a big packet of Johnson wipes and a miniature johnsons baby oil and bath stuff

Julesbegone · 17/09/2017 21:39

Oh, strange! I printed off vouchers and picked up the packs in the same way as the Bounty packs! They're pretty good too from Emma's Diary - the second one I got had a full sized pack of newborn nappies in it.

TheLionQueen1 · 17/09/2017 21:53

My bounty pack was just collected from the hospital. It was awful, there were loads of coupons, and a tester of Milton steriliser, nipple cream and a sanitary towel!! I thought they were supposed to be fab! Apparently there is one you can collect after baby is born too?

Julesbegone · 17/09/2017 22:39

I didn't bother after the first Bounty pack because I threw the lot of it in the bin. Yeah, I think they give you one after you've given birth.

lydiangel83 · 18/09/2017 03:46

I've just realised I haven't claimed a Bounty pack - I have a plastic wallet from midwife am I meant to do something to collect parcel? Where would I find voucher etc? Not sure it's even worth it judging by what you ladies are saying!

TheVoiceOfTreason · 18/09/2017 12:23

How close to your due dates are the NCT classes? I was quite shocked as I'm due 15 Feb and the proposed course dates for me seem really close to my due date - the last session being 21 Jan - I might have already had the baby by then, it wouldn't be that weird! Not committed yet either way. What are people's experiences with NCT so far - is it worth doing?

Ps I was shocked at how much it costs too! Shock

DarcyParty · 18/09/2017 12:36

I'm worrying a bit today ladies :(
32+4, due 9th November and everyone has been commenting on my bump being small. I've just seen the midwife there and I'm measuring 31. She says she might be due a growth spurt but I can't stop worrying!

Also I have a terriffic pressure on my cervix and the midwife says she's 4/5 engaged. Is this bad? I've been dogged by an awful feeling she's going to be early all the way through.

Bounty packs: I never sent away for one, but the midwife gave me one at my last appointment, I got a fabric softner sample thing, a pack of 5 newborn nappies and what looks like a full sized tube of Bepanthen. The little booklets were helpful too!
