@Victoriaaaaaaaa I'm not sure how your company works but I work with the NHS and if I would've qualified for their maternity pay (I haven't been there long enough) it goes off your last 2 months wages before maternity, if it's smp that's a set rate so I don't think it can change

ew1990 · 15/09/2017 22:03

Had my growth scan today, she's growing nicely, on the 50th centile, they've estimated her weight at 4lb 5ish xx

TheLionQueen1 · 15/09/2017 22:15

Fab news @ew1990 ! How many weeks are you again?

I've spent the day washing and ironing baby clothes! Probably the last time they will ever be ironed Grin

ew1990 · 15/09/2017 22:55

@TheLionQueen1 32 weeks tomorrow, I washed and dried all of babies clothes last week - now just for the ironing 😴😴

TheLionQueen1 · 15/09/2017 23:43

So boring isn't it!! Lovely seeing the little clothes out though! It was on my list of things to do on mat leave, got to do a big shop next and buy the little things I've got left like wipes and shampoo etc! I've only got 3 weeks 4 days left Confused

ew1990 · 16/09/2017 00:44

Bloody hell thats gone fast, I've got another 4 week left at work till may leave, I'm gunna start ironing them a bit at a time

lydiangel83 · 16/09/2017 10:28

Potentially silly question but what goes on the bottom of carry cot / flat bed of pram? Do you need some kind of liner? We have a silvercross pioneer and the cream base and sides look like they need some padding or something removable / washable inside??

lydiangel83 · 16/09/2017 10:29

I haven't got many baby clothes at all so not thought about washing them yet!

Missonhartbaby · 16/09/2017 12:30

My mother in law has washed all my baby clothes for me, I doubt she'll iron them and I'm not gonna either, seems so pointless! Haha!
@lydiangel83 my pram came with like a comfy insert thing... I have no idea what you would call it though but I know you can buy them as I have a different one from my friend also. I don't think they need it for the flat bed but they do once it's a pram... I think it's good for them to be lying completely flat and have the space when they are newborn from what I've heard?

Missonhartbaby · 16/09/2017 12:31

Although I think the flat bed should have some kind of sheet on it actually... Maybe I should look into that too! Ha!

scoutcat · 16/09/2017 12:37

Just found out this week that I'm pregnant. 4 weeks today! I need to register at a GP on Monday and get the ball rolling.
What other things do I need to do? I'm already taking folic acid and not having too much caffeine etc. What advice would you give me?
Smile

mrsjkerry · 16/09/2017 13:57

Yes I've just been reading and you should buy sheets for the pram mattress. Moses basket ones will do

OP posts:
Missonhartbaby · 16/09/2017 14:10

Ah that's fab! @mrsjkerry
@scoutcat congrats and welcome to the group! I would say your doing everything you can at the moment and more than anything just relax and embrace it! It's so easy to worry about everything and it is normal to but there's not much you can do (which I found so hard!!) You probably won't see your Dr but will get referred to a midwife who will do your first check etc with you about 8 weeks roughly. Good luck!

mrsjkerry · 16/09/2017 16:01

Anyone else caught a cold in this weather change? I have such a sore throat and blocked nose!

OP posts:
Bobbiepin · 16/09/2017 16:56

You need sheets for the pram? Ahh crap, I'll probably end up getting more. I was thinking I was cutting it fine with a few for the moses basket.

Hope you feel better soon @mrsj. DH has a cold but I have a teacher's immune system so I'm fine.

We're having our kitchen done next week, builders start on Monday so we're clearing everything out into the dining room. Dh has taken this to be a great time to clear out the cupboard under the stairs. I'm getting nesty and everything is a mess and its only going to get worse. I just want to hide under my duvet for the next 3 weeks!

ew1990 · 16/09/2017 17:10

I think Moses basket sheets and pram sheets are the same thing, we've got quite a few, I got offered the flu jab at my midwife appointment but I don't want it, every time I've had it at work I've got sooo Ill

mrsjkerry · 16/09/2017 17:13

@Bobbiepin I am also a teacher but come to think of it I do always seem to get a little cold at the start of the school year! Clearly my immune system is not all that great 😄

So tired today. I wonder if I have a nap whether I'll be able to sleep later...

OP posts:
Bobbiepin · 16/09/2017 17:57

Definitely nap, you'll sleep fine later. I've been making sure to leave work by 5 and napping for a couple of hours daily, it makes life so much easier.

Tbh i've kept my distance from the kids a little more this year, and they've been really lovely in being careful round me if they have sniffles. Lots of anti bac hand gel and tissues in my classroom!

mrsjkerry · 16/09/2017 17:58

I can't wait to go on maternity leave! 5 weeks to go....

OP posts:
Bobbiepin · 16/09/2017 17:58

@ew1990 I think the flu jab is worth it, it gives baby the protection too until they are old enough for their own. I always get it because I'm asthmatic but even nore so this year. I'm a little worried about baby having asthma and putting the flu risk on top of that is enough to stop me sleeping!

Julesbegone · 16/09/2017 22:10

@mrsjkerry 5 weeks for me too...half term by any chance?

mrsjkerry · 16/09/2017 22:24

@Julesbegone yes half term. Can't wait. School is so hard to concentrate on knowing that you'll be gone soon!

OP posts:
Julesbegone · 16/09/2017 22:46

@mrsjkerry totally agree. I've not got a timetable though, which is nice. Have my year group still though so can't say I'm a complete lady of leisure!

Are you going back for a day after half term? My head suggested I do so that I don't need to use mat leave for half term. When are you due? 9th Nov for me.

Bobbiepin · 16/09/2017 23:09

Wow you girls are much tougher than me. I'm going on the 6th so my paid leave finishes a week before summer. I'll go back for that week and get paid for the summer. Baby is due in half term so I didn't want to stress getting there and still having to start mat leave whilst I'm off anyway. I'll take a couple of weeks at home!

Julesbegone · 17/09/2017 00:17

We've still got to move house (waiting for exchange/ completion date atm - vacant, no chain) so I sort of feel like there's no point in me being off because it's not like I can 'nest' anyway as we won't be in this house!

Otherwise, I'd probably have taken a few weeks to rest and prepare. On the plus side, being active and busy is actually making me feel pretty good - I sort of vegged out over summer, which was lovely but made me feel lazy! So I'm enjoying the routine. Had an epic three hour sleep today after 11 hours last night though so I'm guessing I'm pretty tired!
