Welcome @emvy - I'm still constantly symptom checking at 17 weeks, more so since the weekend since I was randomly poorly. I'm in a limbo where the horrid first trimester has worn off but I'm not getting movements to reassure me.

Good luck today @Miami81

beanhunter · 13/06/2017 09:45

May I very cautiously say hello? We have a daughter who is almost 5 who took over 2 years to conceive. We've been ttc#2 for 3 years. One mc in September 2015 and 2 failed cycles of ivf. This is a complete suprise pregnancy as we never expected it to happen while waiting for more Ivf.
So I'm around 4-5 weeks, found out a few days ago and utterly terrified.

NoParticularPattern · 13/06/2017 10:17

Hi emvy! Pleased to see more names I recognise over here!! I'm with you on the panicking. I was terrified up until a few days ago when I suddenly started to feel like just standing up might make me vom.

Good luck today miami!! Everything crossed for you!

Also hi to bean what a journey you've had! I've got everything crossed for you that all goes smoothly :)

As for me I'm knicker watching as I'm approaching the same point where I really started to spot and cramp last time. I think me and OH have agreed we will go for a scan about 10/11 weeks so that we know either way before the wedding. But first I have my booking in appointment a week on Thursday!

Question- whose partners came with them to booking in and whose didn't? I'm not sure what the done thing is since we didn't make it that far last time...!

beanhunter · 13/06/2017 10:18

Mine wasn't there for my booking appointments previously. Just for the scans. The booking was basically a paperwork exercise.

theotherendofthesockportal · 13/06/2017 10:23

@NoParticularPattern I took my husband to the booking scans as his family have some interesting medical conditions that I wanted clarified to the midwife.

NoParticularPattern · 13/06/2017 10:29

I don't think either of us have anything interesting medical history wise so I'll probably aim for going on my own unless OH demands to come!

conkerchops · 13/06/2017 11:52

Hi @emvy ! So lovely to see so many grads from
Our ttc after mc thread!!!

And good luck today @miami - you were the first bfp I saw when I joined the ttc thread! Will be thinking of you!

@pattern I did take dh to booking in with me this time but that was because I was worried it would be with same midwife I had
Last time
Who didn't check I'd had miscarriage and rang me about a missed appt after my surgery!!! I think he found
It interesting to come as we made a plan for this pregnancy!
I felt v sick for the first time this am and everything tasted of
Soap! Yuck! Now has settled back to heart burn!
My symptoms are also different this time! With the two
Mmc I had nausea and v v painful nipples from v v early! This time boss tingle on and off - but not
Nipples and it is v much on and off! I've had bad heart burn this time from I would say 4+5 ish??? And my tummy has been all churny and not v settled and have been getting tired more easily - but don't seem as
Pronounced as both mmc ? Hoping this is a good sign?????

JCleRoux · 13/06/2017 13:47

Welcome @emvy and @beanhunter

There's a mantra I picked up on this thread which has helped me: today i am pregnant. Hope it helps you too.

As everyone has said no two pregnancies are the same but I also know that knowing the this doesn't make it any easier to deal with and be less anxious about subsequent pregnancies after a loss.

Good luck @Miami81 on your scan.

@patterb mine was done over the phone and took 40 minutes. They asked a few questions about medical history for my DH which I could luckily answer.

I went in today for blood tests. They were supposed to do them at the booking appointment but I was asked to go in today for them. With my DS my DH came with.

@chops hope all those are good signs. Has your hospital offered you an early scan?

When I went in for my blood tests this morning the receptionist asked if this was my first pregnancy. When I told her it is my seventh she repeated it so loudly and made eye contact. The whole place heard her! I then had to explain that it's my seventh, yes, but only one living child. Why did she have to scream it for the whole clinic to hear though? I was right there in front of her Sad

NoParticularPattern · 13/06/2017 14:35

JC I take exception to receptionists in doctors quite frequently. I find they have a really dreadful habit of broadcasting shit they do not need to know across the whole world. I'm not sure why it was any of her business how many times you'd been pregnant? Surely that was covered by the booking appointment and her job was just to organise someone to take some blood?!

I remember ringing my docs to say I was having a miscarriage and so I wouldn't need my midwife appointment and she made me repeat it. Twice. Like she couldn't even be arsed to listen- just kept saying "sorry what do I tell the midwife then? You're under the care of who? And why?". I don't quite know how I managed not to scream at her or totally wail down the phone. I'd possibly have slapped her if I'd been there in person!! I did wail down the phone to the people I booked (and paid for!) my private scan with when they just said "ok that's fine. Thanks" when I told them I needed to cancel and why. I genuinely had to ask her if we could have another scan at another time since we had paid for, but not received, a service. Much wailing later she finally said I could have a "free re-scan" but that if those findings were unsuccessful then we would have to pay for another. By that point I was fully irrational and hyperventilating so I just agreed and hung up. I don't get on with receptionists!

Miami81 · 13/06/2017 14:40

Hi
Just a quick check in. 12 week scan done and dusted. All good. Measuring 12+2 and all looking good apparently.

conkerchops · 13/06/2017 15:33

Yay @miami so so pleased for you!

Yes @JC have been offered early scans - am still deciding whether I want one or whether I will wait till 12 weeks - they have a note in my file so whenever I feel ready I can ring up and they will book me in! I am so scared of the anxiety that waiting for a scan induces though so am at the moment quite minded as long as all is well to wait till 12 weeks - we'll see!
I find this thread v reassuring to see others who've had a miscarriage had v diff symptoms between this pregnancy and their miscarriages!

peachgreen · 13/06/2017 16:45

@Miami81 Congratulations, I'm so pleased all is good!

We had another scan today (I have a cyst that they're monitoring) and all is good! Still a strong wee heartbeat and the baby is growing well. Slightly less nauseous today as well - fingers crossed that continues as I was getting a bit beyond my tether with all the puking!

emvy · 13/06/2017 18:26

Thanks everyone for your reassuring words regarding a lack of symptoms, I'm feeling much better this evening.

It's lovely to see lots of familiar names and Miami I am over the moon for you! Amazing news! "All good." What music to the ears!

In terms of booking in, I never planned to take my oh last time and don't this time. Never got to that point last time, praying I make it another week to it this time! It should be next Thursday if I can squeeze in an appointment.

What are your experiences of brown tinged cm? I've had it for about 24 hours. I don't think I'm cramping but sometimes hard to tell as I have IBS and the symptoms can sometimes feel so similar!

theotherendofthesockportal · 13/06/2017 18:32

Congratulations @Miami81

peachgreen · 13/06/2017 19:17

@emvy I had brown tinged CM at 6+3 and all was fine. Worth getting it checked though, especially if you have any pain.

WLMcI · 13/06/2017 19:23

Congratulations Miami!!! So pleased to hear that all is perfectly well for you Smile

Welcome emvy! I had a tiny bit of CM a few weeks ago and of course had a complete meltdown (so those are my ridiculous feelings lol), but it only lasted a short time and it could have been down to DTD I think. Plenty of things can cause that, right? Regarding keeping yourself calm in the first trimester, please do let us all know if you find that particular cure...but I have found that I was reassured to see a heartbeat at the 8 week scan (which I was offered automatically at the EPU), and that reading a series of books has helped. Also once I got past the time when I started having the last MC, I felt more confident every day. I have my 12 week scan on Friday, so I can't say I'm cool as a cucumber, but I'm better than I was 2 weeks ago! Good luck X

JCleRoux · 13/06/2017 19:33

Yay @Miami81! That's fantastic!

TheLegendOfBeans · 13/06/2017 19:43

Ah good stuff @Miami81 is lovely to see another TTC grad on here and getting through the milestones successfully.

Today I had my first appointment in my new home country, in a totally different healthcare system where the gynae, midwife and post partum services are all seperate and you choose who to go with. It's actually really mind-bending having to choose and I found myself almost wishing I was back in the NHS just being told what to do and where to go and when.

In other news (tmi alert) after being quite scared that baby wasn't moving about as he has been today I finally pooped and HEY PRESTO he's partying on down. It's lovely to feel his wriggles back and he booted the Doppler today just to basically say "I'm here!"

22 weeks tomorrow. Guys, I promise you, if I can get to this stage with marbles intact then I know you guys who are just starting out can too.

Yay Miami & Peach!

I have another check-up scan a week tomorrow. Seems forever away.

Welcome Emvy!

emvy · 13/06/2017 20:43

Thanks guys. I'll see what's going on tomorrow and if it's continuing, give the GP a ring. Not booked in with the midwife yet. It's barely noticeable so hopefully it's just from implantation.

Legend, I'm so pleased you've got a little wriggler in there letting you know all is well! 22 weeks seems a lifetime away.

My third (and I promise, final) question of the day; early scans? I wanted one at 8 weeks privately (I'm not offered any at epu unfortunately), but my mum (who's a midwife), is convinced there's no point before 12. Which I understand but she's not been through a mc and doesn't understand the need to just feel like I got further than I did before or start dealing with things before 12 weeks if need be. But this has consequently convinced my OH that we're not having a scan until then. I've tried to negotiate and go for 10 weeks... worth it? Or if it's so close to 12, should we just wait?

Sweetyboo · 13/06/2017 22:36

Congrats @Miami81

Sweetyboo · 14/06/2017 04:17

IM BLEEDING big time so another mc

Miami81 · 14/06/2017 04:37

Oh sweety I'm so sorry. It might not be, random bleeding can happen due to low lying placenta and stuff like that. Are you in pain? You poor thing. Please ring epu in the morning and get checked over.

Sweetyboo · 14/06/2017 04:40

@Miami81 its not as it came with gush & still going so i think its happening. But im still praying big time & crying crazy
