meant to say before the baby ARRIVES! -oops!

midnightexpress · 11/04/2007 09:29

Morning ladies! Have given up and come on MN for a bit of light relief. DS2 up most of the night with a snuffly nose, poor wee mite, so up early and decided to paint bookcase while DS1 at nursery this morning. Now completely covered in bright red paint - I used a roller, it said on the tin I could wash the brushes in soap and water, but it doesn't come out, or at least it does, but only onto whatever is nearby. Have red paint EVERYWHERE. Washing-up bowl, roller, roller tray, several dishcloths and my hands ruined. Trying to wash out rollers with DS2 attached in papoose to stop him crying (talk about multitasking!)not v easy. God, what a mess. I think I'll just bung everything in a bin bag and forget about it. My advice - don't buy Crown Solo gloss paint.

Bookcase looks nice though .

Anyway, hope you're all having a better morning than me.

weeonion · 11/04/2007 10:57

oh dear midnight - sounds as if it all looks like a minor massacre happened. i thought gloss had to come of fwith turps/ white spirit?? bung it all in the bin i reckon!
we had to resort to using UZZo and salt to get satinwood off dps hands when we were painting the nursery - left him with the softest hands ever tho'

vio - are you there???? how you feeling today???

39 weeks today. i think i am feelign too good to go into labour. havent reached the final too big and uncomfortbale to move stage so reckon it'll be a while yet. am relaxing in bed with a mug of raspberry leaf and reading a book - bliss.

hope you are all fine today xooxo

hey ladies - feeling very lazy today - finally got rid of all the guests so peace and quiet for the next few days me thinks... its not that any of them have been any trouble, I'm just sick of having to make conversation with people and such like - think being on ML has made me quite anti-social!!

Weather is supposed to be nice for the next few days but I'm not holding out much hope!!!

Vio · 11/04/2007 12:46

hello everyone! thanks i am feeling much better today . have talked to DH and think he understands a bit more...like some of you said,..hes probably a bit nervous too..afterall hes going to be a father. I suppose it wasnt depression, its just the hormones maybe? I am going to be a mother soon so i have to stay positive and be happy .....being miserable makes life difficult for everyone including myself so i am trying to stay happy and not think negatively. Anyway, thanks alot everyone!

TALLULAHBELLE · 11/04/2007 12:51

Hey Vio,
Good to hear you're feeling more positive today. But still talk to your m/w about things, just to be sure.

Vio · 11/04/2007 15:57

lazyemma, when was your due date? mine is 22 Apr.

lazyemma · 11/04/2007 17:07

the 7th April! I had a "sweep" today. It wasn't the most fun experience I've ever had. Also, for the first time this pregnancy, there was protein in my wee and my blood pressure has gone up. I've been booked in for an induction on Tuesday, but I've got to go and have some Prostin gel put on my cervix on Monday night, to start things off.

I'm hoping that things kick off before then on their own though. I'm bored of being pregnant now.

weeonion · 11/04/2007 17:40

lazy emma - a nct goup friend had the gel put in on saturday night to get ready for sunday but the baby was born 4 hrs later - so fingers crossed it works. did the mw say if you were dilating??

OP posts:
lazyemma · 11/04/2007 17:52

It says 1-2cm in my notes, but my Bishop Score is a measly 3 - I think a score of 9 or more means signs are good for things getting started on their own. Still, I guess 3 is better than 0!

I've been having quite strong BH all day since the sweep so it's done something, but a bit early to tell if it's anything exciting.

weeonion · 11/04/2007 18:00

you have quite a while before monday so maybe the sweep will get things started but by teh sounds of it - they already have if you are 1-2 cms dilated??

TALLULAHBELLE · 11/04/2007 20:27

Fingers crossed for you lazyemma.

midnightexpress · 11/04/2007 20:34

Oh how exciting lazyemma - fingers crossed it'll get going. 12th April is a VERY good day to have a birthday! Though don't suppose it'll be the wildest one I've ever had.

WO - you have no idea - Lady Macbethtastic! I was suspicious of the cleaning instructions myself - the water-based glosses are usually fine to wash out in water, but this was one of the stinkier ones. Hideous. Went to the tramway garden briefly this afternoon - mother covered in red paint, ds1 insisting on lying face down on the gravel - he was FILTHY! Only ds2 kept up appearances, snoozing quietly in the buggy (wish he'd do that at bedtime though...).

Glad you're feeling a bit better Vio. last few weeks of pg are definitely the worst, IME.

lazyemma · 12/04/2007 09:03

Happy Birthday midnightexpress! And thanks guys for the good wishes. Had a bit of a show last night, which must be encouraging, right? But nothing since really. I was a bit miffed yesterday at my general unreadiness for sprogging, but feel much better about things today. It'll happen when it'll happen, and if not, hopefully Tuesday will be The Day. It's also the day of our third wedding anniversary, which seems auspicious.

midnightexpress · 12/04/2007 09:20

Thanks lazyemma!

A show definitely a good sign. Both mine got going pretty soon after I had a show, so hopefully it'll all start of its own accord in next day or two. Tuesday seems a long way off, but hopefully you'll have LO in one arm and double celebratory glass of champagne in t'other.

weeonion · 12/04/2007 09:24

happy birthday, happy happy birthday birthday to you midnight!!!!!! have a lovely one - try and get a bit of papmering flung in there somewhere! i must admit i kept laughing lat night at visions of you "out damn spot - out" at the sink. bet the hidden gardens wondered what the heck you had been up to but if the book cases looked good - then at least you have not suffered in vain!!

lazyemma- well things seem to be moving in teh right direction! great news! kep us posted. get on your exercise ball and help bounce that baby downwards!

weeonion · 12/04/2007 10:46

folks - just a thought. i am trying to organise a baby first aid course for my nct group and wondered if any of you woudl liek to join in?? i dont have any details as yet so this is just a scope out of your thoughts!!!

OP posts:
midnightexpress · 12/04/2007 11:11

Thanks WO - got a lovely day for it! I got a Kenwood Chef from DP and am sadly over-excited about it - have spent the morning making bread. Jimmy Choos? Who needs 'em? Clearly my misspent youth is over.

I'd definitely be interested in a First Aid course, depending on timing. had a horrible incident with DS1 and a cup of tea on Mothers' Day, and have been meaning to look into it. Let me know the details when you have them.

TALLULAHBELLE · 12/04/2007 13:16

Baby first aid sounds like a very good idea. Have a resuscitation workshop at parenthood class next week but a more general class would be worthwhile too I think.

Loulee · 12/04/2007 17:27

Happy birthday midnight! really lovely day for it BTW, don't you think you should be wearing your jimmy choos while using the kenwood?? a girl definitely needs both imo!

Lazyemma 2-3cm dilated already - that's great! Sounds imminent to me.
I was only 3cm dilated after 2 days of labour and intervention with dd1!!! - so hopefully you'll be in for a straightforward and happy birth. Keep us posted + I hope it goes well

midnightexpress · 12/04/2007 19:47

Well obviously yes, Loulee, but they're murder on the back when lugging ds2 around - he's had one of those days when he WON'T be put down thankyouverymuch. Has yelled from start to finish, though payoff is that he's finally worn himself out and we're about to have dinner with no children present (famous last words...). SJP would be ashamed of me.

Vio · 13/04/2007 09:27

hi midnight-hope you had a wonderday birthday.

Lazyemma - hope your baby makes his/her grand entrance soon! fingers crossed.

yes, think the last few wks of pregnancy are definitely the worse...but i think i am feeling fine now...

WO-a baby first aid course sounds like a good idea!

Weather has been v.good..:O) looks like we are going to have a lovely day again today

midnightexpress · 13/04/2007 10:31

So glad you're feeling better Vio - not long now (1 week till due date?). Hopefully the good weather will stay with us so you can lounge in the garden with LO .

Any news yet Lazyemma? I am v excited by imminent arrival of our next batch of babies.

Off to fetch new cotbed for DS2 this weekend (my thrilling life, part 675), though looks like he'll be in with his long-suffering parents for a while yet, going by last night's performance. Don't think I'll risk him in with his big bro for the time being.

Right, off to rummage through bathroom cupboards in search of undereye bag eliminator.

weeonion · 13/04/2007 11:07

midnight - apparently pile cream works for eye bags and wrinkles............
