Loulee · 14/07/2007 10:20

hi all, and welcome LWandLottie.
Hope you are all doing well. Only one week to go for me now. well, a week on monday. At last I have finished my work and can do some sorting out and pack my hospital bag!!
How did your time at the hospital go with your little one LWandLottie?

fairybit · 17/07/2007 23:57

Hiya, brand new on here! I'm from South Lanarkshire and I'm due my first baby at the end of November. I'm going to the Princess Royal in Glasgow (was there today for a scan for the first time and it looks pretty bleak!!)Does anyone know anything about it??

TALLULAHBELLE · 18/07/2007 09:52

Hi there fairy,
Welcome.
I had my wee one @ Queen Mum's but there's a few PR folk on here. FWIW the QMH looked more than a little bleak when I had my hosp tour but once in labour I really didn't care about the surroundings. The staff were lovely & I was happy with the way we were cared for. Am sure will be the same for you wherever you decide to have your baby.

geordiemacminx · 18/07/2007 09:56

Hi Fairy - where abouts in S Lanarkshire are you? I'm in uddingston and thought that everyone went to Wishaw? Hope you are keeping well.

midnightexpress · 18/07/2007 10:34

Hi fairybit and welcome! Again, no experience of the Royal as mine both born at SGH, but sure someone will be along soon with experience. All the newbies seem to be S Lanarkshire gals - must be summat in the water!

Loulee, hope all's well with you and enjoying this timely sunshine while it lasts. Was thinking of you this morning, as I'm trying to sort out mounds of baby clothes. Can't believe ds2 will be 6 months this week. Where did it go?? If it's a boy, would you be interested in some hand-me-downs? We have mountains of stuff, half of which is completely unworn. Similarly, any of you newer mums-of-boys (GMM? Anjo?) if you can use any 3-6 month stuff, let me know and I'll bring some along to next meet-up. Otherwise it's off to the charity shop I guess.

fairybit · 18/07/2007 19:17

Hiya, am in sunny Cambuslang. I also thought that I'd be in Wishaw...my friend who lives 5 minutes from me is in Blantyre and she went to Wishaw. However, my care is split between Rutherglen Health Centre and the Princess Royal which is good when I'm not working, but as I work in Hamilton, it's a pain having to go all the way in there! So far I've been sent for 4 scans (the first 2 at Hairmyers) and I'm only 21 weeks along!! I can't fault the care at all (so far!!) Shell x

Loulee · 19/07/2007 22:00

hi fairy, sorry, no advice on PRM, am in QMH. - sure all will be fine though

Thanks Midnight - if we have a boy, some boy things may be useful - my girls (with no encouragement from me) are complete pink fanatics! Luckily have lots of newborn unisex clothing for first few months though.

Anyway, will let you all know how we get on, but may well not be for a while as I'm aiming to stay in the hospital as long as possible!

BellaTrixyLestrange · 19/07/2007 23:02

Hi Fairybit,

I live in Burnside so not too far from you and had my DS at PRMH and mt mat care at Rutherglen.

The PRMH looks pretty grim from the outside, but it's not too bad inside and the midwives were lovely. I had a really good birth experience there, I managed to get in the only birthing pool which was great.

BellaTrixyLestrange · 19/07/2007 23:03

Good Luck Loulee!!!

fairybit · 19/07/2007 23:46

Thanks Bella. I know Burnside well. Are you from there originally?? A birthing pool at PRMH?? Hmmmm, I'm having visions of my mother insisting they let her in with bleach and dettol before I went in!!
My lovely husband is insisting that he's present at the birth and there's no way he'd go in there with me (he's not fond of gore)!! He cut his finger and had to lie on the cold bathroom floor for 5 mins until he felt ok again...part of me thinks I'm going to need a back up person for the delivery

midnightexpress · 20/07/2007 07:59

Is that you Trixymalixy? Or do you have someone with a spookily similar name in Burnside?

Loulee - v wise to get as much hosp r&r as possible. Will be thinking of you on Monday Hope all goes smoothly and look forward to hearing your news.

BellaTrixyLestrange · 20/07/2007 09:39

Yes, tis trixy. I keep forgetting I've had a harry potter name change!!

No fairy, I'm not from Burnside originally. Hadn't even really heard of it or were thinking of moving until we saw a house we liked on an estate agents website. Went just for a nosey and ended up buying it! Then all our friends who were in the same position of wanting a house but not able to afford one in Shawlands etc followed us here!!

I thought the maternity unit at the PRMH was pretty clean and the birthing ool was spotless.

weeonion · 21/07/2007 22:36

evening folks - hello to yu all from a sunny and roasting hot ireland.
loulee - thinking of you for monday and looking forwad to hearing yr news

hope you are all well in bonnie scotland. xo

fairy - hello to you! i was at prm - and thought i got great antenatal care. loved my midwife who has now moved to rutherglen. she was truly fab. my consultant dr duncan was lovely as well - she came up to the postnatal ward twice to see us. i was only in the delivery suite for a very short time so cant comment on it to much but what staff i met were lovely. i had planned on the midwife unit with birthing pool - never made it to there but it looked ok. you can now give birth in the pool as the mw have been trained - a new development. overall a good place but bf advice / support = dire so if yu are planning that - i would suggest yu are well prepared in other ways.

our irish tour has started with a bit of a nightmare. been to 3 hospitals now with severe engorgement, a breast abcess and infected cracked nipples. long story and bloody nightmare with BF but stil going and dosed up the gills and boobs with meds. so much for not a single painkiller thru pg and since she was born poor family have now seen more of my bobs than ever but have been so suportive. back to hospital on monday - may be admitted if this abcess hasnt gone down... anyhow - caoimhe is still a joy so we will get through this. the family love their smilie new member!

anyhow - off i go - being totally overfed by my mother. if i sit down for a moment too long - a cuppa and cake are in front of me!

Hi WO - sorry to hear about your bf woes - sounds awful . I had a blocked duct a couple of times and that was bad enough - such a relief when I got it unblocked (good old ds2 sorted that ut for me, bless him). But glad the hol is going well otherwise and the family are keeping you well fed and watered.

We're off to the country today to try and get some fresh air. Better go, DP can't seem to get the kids dressed without my intervention for some reason

TALLULAHBELLE · 22/07/2007 22:09

LOULEE Good luck tomorrow. Can't wait to hear the news.

WO What a shame about your abcess etc. Sounds really painful. Hope you get it sorted soon. Don't worry about the painkillers - i had painkillers, anti-inflamatories & antibiotics for my mastisis & was assured all were safe when b/f.

fairybit · 23/07/2007 02:08

Thanx WO, poor you, hope you're feeling better soon. No plans for bfing but there's not a lot of info suggested by the midwifes for formula feeding! Will ask again next time I'm there.

Hey girls, i'm due in november and it's lovely to be pregnant, but nobody told me about the stretch marks on the boobs, the kicking just when I'm ready to sleep, the heartburn (yeuch) and when I (in alarm i might add) asked the midwife if my tummy should be getting hairy she said "ahhhhh hormones at work". Gone are my wild romantic fantasies about me being a beautiful glowing expectant mummy.... I'm hairier, stretchmarked and squeamish...the only bloody glowing I'm getting is when i'm losing the plot about silly things!! When will I be a beautiful mother earth type mummy with fabulous hair and glowing skin and a wonderful maternal instinct??? I'm 5 months gone already?? Is there any hope??

weeonion · 25/07/2007 11:03

any loulee news??

trixy - did the fleeceliners arrive ok??

OP posts:
BellaTrixyLestrange · 26/07/2007 18:26

Yes they did thanks WO. I sent you an e-mail. I thought you were going to send me one or two not a huge stack!!

I haven't got round to using them yet as we have been down in Sheffield for a few days.

How are you getting on WO? Any better?

I gave DS formula for the first time today down at the doctor's surgery after his reaction to ice cream see thread below:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=29&threadid=356494

He projectile vomited the whole lot all over the place, it was like something from the exorcist, it just kept coming and coming. Poor DS.

Looks like I'm bfing for a bit longer then!

NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS

Was @ QMH yesterday & bumped into Loulee. She had wee boy on Mon, called Lewis. She was up & about & looking fit & well.Baby doing well & they are getting home today so sure she will fill us in once she has the time.Congratulations Loulee.

midnightexpress · 27/07/2007 15:15

Yeaaaaaay! Congratulations Louleeeeeee and welcome to little Lewis.

Glad to hear you're all well. I'm sure it'll be great having a wee boy in the family. Look forward to hearing all about him. How are the dds liking having a brother?

Turf out the pink and buy cars.

midnightexpress · 27/07/2007 15:58

Sorry meant to say to Trixy - hope DS is recovering from his ordeal-by-cow's-milk. Poor wee thing. Is it something they grow out of, or a lifelong allergy? What a pain though. And I don't think you can buy that goat milk formula any more can you? Still, at least the bf has gone OK.

Speaking of which, how are you getting on Tallulah? Has the feeding settled down yet? Hope it's going OK.

And WO, hope the norks are sorting themselves out.

thelady · 27/07/2007 20:02

Can I join in?

I'm 21 weeks preg and in the Borders. Been here 3 years, but self-employed hotelier so don't know many people locally....

geordiemacminx · 27/07/2007 20:41

Congrats Loulee - I bet you were so surprised when they said you had a boy!!! Lovely name.

Welcome thelady!!!

midnightexpress · 27/07/2007 20:42

Of course you can thelady - welcome! Is this your first baby? Most of the regulars here seem to be Glasgow and environs, but there are a few others from outwith the G postcodes! And lots of us (including me) are not from Scotland originally.
Whereabouts in the Borders are you? And how's the pg going?

midnightexpress · 27/07/2007 20:43

Hi there GMM! How's it going?
