Good luck with that Tallulah - hope they can sort you out.

Loulee - we've already had the hand foot mouth disease (both boys!) so ticked that one off the list. Actually ds1 not too ill with it, though ds2 got a bit of a fever. Blardy nursery.

weeonion · 03/07/2007 21:37

arghhhhhhh - lost a big post with lots of personals. bum..

just to say - hope we are all ok. have emailed some of you re vio.

Hi everyone,

Tallulah - bf is so hard in the beginning. I hope the people at the QM can help, but if bfing doesn't work out for you then don't beat yourself up about it, there's more to being a Mum than just the feeding.

Re expressing, it takes time to get it going as well, in the beginning I could only get a couple of ounces out and that increases as time goes on, so don't be expecting to fill a full bottle at the moment. I find that if I sit and watch the pump then I get very little out but if I relax and watch telly or read a book then I do better.

Also if you have the Avent pump make sure the white disc is the right way round and that the massage petal bit is on properly all the way round, both mistakes I made in the beginning.

Midnight - sorry to hear your DS is ill again.

Loulee - I have tried putting a muslin over my shoulder, but to no avail.I need to pu tearplugs in DS!! Try and put your feet up before your LO arrives!!

weeonion · 03/07/2007 23:31

good advice trixy. a few times i nalry wept as i couldnt get suction til i realised that teh white disc was in the worng way. i spent a whoel night in the bath at the start pouring hot water over my boobs to get expressing going. i even find now that if i dont do it for a couple o fdays - it is so much harder to do the next time. i honestly think the trick was to keep goign with it, relax, change sides frequently, relax, use hot flannels, relax and keep distracted.

glad yr hols went well trixy - any pics?? by the way - i think ben looks so cute with his hair cute!! how did he get on while you were away? woudl yo mind letting me have teh number of the perosn you wen tto for cranial osteopathy (sp??) for a friend?

good luck tulla - hope to see you in the a.m at QM

i really never thought that bf would be so emotive for me and others. when pg - i kept thinking / saying that i would try it, woudlnt hesitate to giveit up if it was hard etc but i found the emotions more complex thanthat. i do agree tho' that being a mum involves a heck of alot more than just bf. we beat ourselves up about so much that i think sometimes we forget about ourselves in all of this. soppy big hug to all of you. xo

what about another meetup? we have to meet the 2 new babies - tulla's and soon to be loulee's!!

Thanks WO - I quite liked Ben's silly curl!

I do have a few pics from my holiday, but I just look so blardy awful in them that i don't think I want to put them up. Have been kidding myself that i can eat what I want because I'm bfing. Need to go on a diet.

Ben wasn't too bad while we were away apart from being impossible to feed in public. Considering the journey was so long he did really well.

cranial osteopath

I was surprised how emotive bfing is as well. I thought the same as you WO that I would just FF if it wasn't going well. FFing would have been so much easier for me when we were on holiday, I bought some but coudn't bring myself to use it purely because i am only 3 weeks off exclusively bfing for 6 months. Which is ridiculous really.

I'd be up for a meet up, will be nice to meet the new babies and see how much they have all grown.

weeonion · 08/07/2007 21:00

hey folk s- a quiet time on here!! what are you all up to? hope you havent been too washed out with the rain!

OP posts:
Loulee · 09/07/2007 09:42

Bit of cabin fever round our house with the rain (though it has suited me and my tidying up frenzy!) - but looking better this week, don't you think?
How are all the wee ones doing?

TALLULAHBELLE · 09/07/2007 12:32

Hi hope evveryone enjoying this wee bit of sunshine. Not long to go now loulee.

Another meet up due soon - if weather lasts maybe we'll manage that picnic ?

midnightexpress · 09/07/2007 13:33

Picnic would be lovely - does anyone have a long piece of string so I can bring ds1 ?

Computer playing up must go

Loulee · 09/07/2007 16:43

Picnic would be nice if the summer picks up - maybe I could hobble along??

Tallulah, yeah, it's 2 weeks today - I'm SO disorganised...oh well...by the way, how did you get on at qmh?

LWandLottie · 09/07/2007 17:43

Hello

Have only just found this thread! I had my dd 7 weeks ago on wednesday - my god that's gone fast! Now back home living in Scotland after being in Bristol at University and feeling rather....lonely! Being quite a young mum I have no friends with babies so can feel pretty on my own at times. Also a single parent.

I'm in the sounth Lanarkshire area with easy access into Glasgow and Edinburgh, anyone near me?

LWandLottie · 09/07/2007 17:50

*south - doh!

TALLULAHBELLE · 09/07/2007 20:39

Hi Lottie - am in Glasgow, West End. Maybe you'll make it to next meetup.

Loulee - the b/f counsellor has been really good. Went last week & again today & wee one has finally reached her birthweight (1 oz heavier in fact) YAY!!!! Feel better about things tho still needing formula top ups at the mo. Been advised to drink fennel tea or Guiness to boost milk supply. Am opting for the Guiness

trixymalixy · 09/07/2007 20:58

Hi Lottie,I'm in South Lanarkshire too, in Burnside. Whereabouts are you?

Tallulah, that's fab news about your LO. Can't believe I've been drinking fennel tea when I could have been drinking Guinness!!!!

weeonion · 09/07/2007 21:12

midnightexpress · 09/07/2007 21:15

Ooh Trixy, what's Burnside like? We're just about to make an offer on a flat there (which we're almost certainly not going to get, but anyway...). Is there stuff to do with LOs there (playgroups and so on)?

Hi Lottie and welcome. Hope to see you at next meetup.

Great news about the bub's weight and the bf Tallulah. Glad things are working out. It does get easier (or at least until the TEETH come through - DS2 got his 1st two a couple of weeks ago and has now taken to giving me a good chomp once he's had enough milk, little monkey. It really hurts).

Hang on in there Loulee. Hope we get some decent weather for your last couple of weeks so you can put your feet up outside.

Any news from Vio? Hope she's doing OK.

trixymalixy · 09/07/2007 21:25

Ooh how exciting midnight!

I actually really like living in Burnside. I think there's quite a nice community feel and there are playgroups and soft play nearby in Cambuslang etc.
Loads of people like us who have moved out a bit after having kids live in Burnside so it can only get better.

Only thing missing is a decent pub and some nice cafe restaurant type things.

geordiemacminx · 10/07/2007 08:37

Hey ladies

Glad to see things are getting better TB!!

Burnside cant be that far away from me either - hang on, will just consult multimap...right, gotcha, its 6 miles from me.. not far at all!

LWaL... I'm in South Lanarkshire too, uddingston, Anjo is in Hamilton, whereabouts are you? My DS, Charlie is 9 weeks old.

Anjo1 · 10/07/2007 16:00

LWandLottie · 12/07/2007 14:27

Hiya, sorry to have posted and ran away! Have had Lottie up at the hospital to get her heart murmour checked out. I'm in Lanark, still don't know my way around terribly well as was in Bristol this year studying. Have now moved back in with my family and plan to stay.

Do have good rail links to just about anywhere though, don't know anybody with children and it's a bit lonely.

geordiemacminx · 12/07/2007 15:38

I've got a friend that lives in larkhall which isnt far from you I think?

Anjo and I usually meet up in hAMILTON SO WILL GIVE YOU A SHOUT THE NEXT TIME WE GO. Oh bugger just realised i had caps lock on... perils of trying to feed and type!!

LWandLottie · 12/07/2007 15:48

Larkhall's maybe about 30mins away by car from me. Actually got lost up there the other day, we thought we'd be smart and take the 'short' way home! It wasn't the short way. We got very lost.

Oooo, would love to meet up. Hamilton's easy to get to on the train, 15-20 minute journey.

Where's this other meet up, the possible picnic? And when?

geordiemacminx · 12/07/2007 15:58

We havent got a date or place organised for that yet, WO is going away for a month and loulee is due in a week or so, so it might be towards the end of august?

My ds is 10 weeks tomorrow so not much older than your dd... which hospital did you go to? We were at wishaw

LWandLottie · 12/07/2007 16:57

I was in Wishaw as well, was induced a day before my due date because of high blood pressure.

Have some exams to do in Bristol at the end of August, not sure of the dates yet. Depending on wether they are close together or days apart I may or may not be able to make it. Let you know as soon as I know!
