Anyone who is similar please come and join, I want to complain and not be told he'll come when he's ready Sad I know that that is the case but I can't have it repeated to me any more than what I've already heard it, mainly by the annoying fuckers who text me and ask if the baby is here yet!

I went to the midwife for a sweep at bang on 40 weeks but she couldn't do it because he wasn't engaged enough so I can't try again until Thursday which is pushing it too close to Christmas Day Angry And I had £50 worth of acupuncture yesterday and he's still as high as he was 6 weeks ago.

I'm sorry for the moan but I'm so fucked off, I just don't want him to have a birthday any closer to Christmas than what he has to Sad

If anyone was barely engaged with not even a hint of a show but suddenly dropped and went in to labour, now is the time to share your stories!

So the midwife attempted a sweep today, she did what she could. Baby is fully engaged and I'm booked in for another sweep on Boxing Day morning unless this one works.

Any more news ladies?x

PeachBellini123 · 23/12/2016 15:18

Sorry to hear that Stubble.

Good luck Due, hope it all kicks off!

tillytubby · 23/12/2016 17:04

Midwife appointment this morning, baby and me all fine but holding off on a sweep til Monday.

Dueindecember2016 · 23/12/2016 21:09

Any more baby updates??

StubbleTurnips · 23/12/2016 21:13

Nothing due, in fact I've had a baileys this evening!

I'm crossing my legs til Boxing Day now in protest.

mistletoe1 · 23/12/2016 23:18

Kione that is so reassuring to me after my forceps birth. I'm terrified my undercarriage is never going to recover Sad.

Nikki2ol6 · 24/12/2016 04:16

I had my midwife today too who said my baby's head is not engaged what so ever and will be seeing me next week, then it's my induction and I really wanted him to come before the induction and I think all these cramps and back pains I get have been pointless and I really believed we were heading in the right direction 😔

Elland · 24/12/2016 06:44

Morning everyone! I had my little boy at 8.34 yesterday morning weighing 8lb 7oz and he's a right little bruiser and I'm in love!

All was fine and going well until my waters broke and it turned out he had pooed inside me so I was transferred to the hospital instead of birth centre where it went from bad to worse and I ended up with a forceps birth and a 3rd degree tear Sad baby couldn't breathe properly and was taken to the high dependancy unit and I was taken to theatre! I didn't get to see him until 6pm last night, he's okay and doing well but still on the unit, looks like we will both be here this Christmas as I lost a lot of blood with my tear and have to stay on antibiotics.

Terrified my tear is never going to heal properly and I'll have the fetal incontinence that they mentioned was rare but by looking it up isn't as rare as was made out it seems.

Congrats whatthefreak Smile I'm glad your DP got to be there, baby must have known!

Stub your baby must be so comfy in there, I feel for you that they're still not here, hopefully the excitement of Christmas will get him going on Boxing Day

Congrats Ell! Sounds like you had a scary birth experience Flowers

Whatthefreakinwhatnow · 24/12/2016 07:12

Oh Elland, I'm so sorry other hear you had such a rough time of it but I'm so pleased for you that he is here and well!

Try not to worry about the tear, take all of their advice about what to do and not do and follow post-natal care instructions and you'll be ok, I know a couple of people who've had bad tears and have fully healed in time. Be kind to yourself and don't overdo it! Try to relax and enjoy your beautiful little boy Smile

QuilliamCakespeare · 24/12/2016 08:28

Congrats Elland. Sorry to hear it didn't go according to plan but you're both ok and that's the most important thing. My friend had a fourth degree tear and has no incontinence issues whatsoever so don't panic. Just rest and deal with any issues as they arise (they probably won't though). Congrats on your baby boy Flowers

Is anyone else suffering with ruined nipples? I'd forgotten quite how agonising the early days of breastfeeding are.

Kione · 24/12/2016 08:29

mistletoe and
Congratulations Elland, hope baby recovers quick and good.
I had a big cut for the forceps, they didn't want to tell me how many stitches! But I could feel them in my anus too Blush and it healed fine, I have never had incontinence problems only was scared to poo but managed that holding a sanitary pad against the area. Sorry if its TMI but I was pleased when my MIL told me that!

Tinyhumanjan17 · 24/12/2016 08:45

Congratulations Elland! Sorry that it didn't all go according to plan but happy that you got your bubba here ❤️

Dueindecember2016 · 24/12/2016 09:43

Yay!!! Congratulations elland. I wonder who will be next... it certainly won't be me! Xx

Bumbleclat · 24/12/2016 11:10

Congrats Elland*
I've got a sweep booked for next weds when I'll be 40+7 and I'm hoping it works- really don't want an induction.

sunshine8 · 24/12/2016 11:22

Congrats to all those with their new babies! I am happy for you all but also jealous!

I am now 41+3, it just isn't going to happen on its own and my induction is booked for Boxing Day.

Had my mucus plug a couple of days ago and still losing parts but that's been the only sign.

Even though I'm 10 days over I know it won't be be next!

Elland · 24/12/2016 12:25

Thanks everyone Smile hopefully we'll both be home in a couple of days!

Kione thanks for the tip about the pad, I'll try that when I need to go because I'm currently terrified Sad

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting on their babies Flowers

Elland our births sound very similar (I had ventouse, episiotomy, forceps and 3rd degree tear) and baby had shoulder dystocia. Also went straight into surgery following the birth. It is massively upsetting and I share your fears. I'm also worried about bonding with baby cause I keep having flashbacks and I think I might need therapy! Just wanted to let you know you're not alone. Hope your post-natal ward experience isn't too bad. We got home late last night and I'm so much happier.

StubbleTurnips · 24/12/2016 13:44

sun at least you're losing your plug, I'm still nothing here at 40+8! Not even a peep.

I'm set for induction on Wednesday - epidural and drip is my prediction. Same as DD!

sunshine8 · 24/12/2016 15:48

Stubble it's hard isn't it. I guess with yours not being your first as well you don't expect to go over by so much.

I really didn't want to be induced as wanted to use the birthing suite but Looks like that isn't to be.

At least we only have days left

StubbleTurnips · 24/12/2016 15:53

Certainly is very frustrating, but I know what to expect so I'm not worried like last time.

Not long to go in reality, and then the hard work really starts Grin

PeachBellini123 · 24/12/2016 16:34

Congratulations Elland. So sorry for your experience but hope you and baby are home safe and sound soon.

39+4 here. Come down with a horrible cold so actually hoping my baby doesn't come now. Feel dreadful.

tillytubby · 24/12/2016 16:39

Congratulations elland!
I had a third degree tear with my son and the recovery wasn't easy but I did make a full recovery. No lasting incontinence issues and back to normal sex life etc.

You will need lots of rest (if possible!) and insist on seeing a pelvic floor Physio as soon as possible for treatment. Seems to be a postcode lottery as to quality of follow up care after bad tears. I was not automatically referred for treatment postnatally but had no problem getting it once I asked but you must make sure you do not put up with discomfort or other problems and get fobbed off with it being normal after having a baby.

ControlGeek · 24/12/2016 18:42

Just finished reading the thread and caught up on all the lovely baby news! I'm crossing my fingers for everyone else that you all get your wish to either have/not have your Christmas Day babies, depending on your preference Flowers

I got out of hospital late yesterday following emergency c-section in the small hours of 21/12/16. Despite weighing in at 9lb 14oz(!) all doing well and very glad to be home and away from the noisy post-natal ward. The contractions hit me straight away at 3-5 minutes apart, and rapidly increased in intensity until they were 2-3 minutes apart, lasting over a minute, and I really needed more than the paracetamol and TENS could give me by about 6pm. Couldn't post beyond my initial message on here, as I was just riding from one wave to the next with no recovery time.

Went into the birthing centre around 7pm but baby wasn't engaged and manual breaking of my waters and controlled descent didn't help. Baby got a bit distressed with the contractions so we opted for c-section. If anyone's worried about ending up with a EMCS, I would say try not to. It's been a breeze compared to previous abdominal surgery recovery and I'd actually say that the pain from my piles is worse Xmas Sad
