I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Sorry to hear you are having another tough day babyand, hope you have been able to rest?

Four that's great news that the head is so understanding and supporting you to get back to work.

Hope your scan also went well today castle?

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/11/2016 17:01

Castles scan is tomorow

It's horrible when have good day and think all over then back with venage

I'm not going to say had 3 good days apart from oj mon as whenever I do I'm then sick 😂

Fab head is being supportive 😁

Sneezypeasy · 30/11/2016 17:35

Oops, sorry castle, I misread that - best of luck tomorrow!

Blondes, I know what you mean about good days, even though I know I can't actually "jinx" it just by telling people, I still worry I am setting myself up for a fall.

Let's hope the good days keep outnumbering the bad :)

LucyHMK · 30/11/2016 17:57

Aw, lovely pic, Blondes !

My actual DD is 22/12 but I'm having a cs on 15/12. 2 weeks tomorrow!

MotherofPearl · 30/11/2016 19:13

Four, glad you enjoyed the cinema (and the Pringles!), and brilliant to hear how supportive your head is. Makes a nice change; I've heard some horror stories on here about unsympathetic employers.
Sneezy, glad to hear you're feeling marginally better and able to eat a bit. Fingers crossed you can really build on that progress.
Baby, sorry you've had a rough day. Another day nearly done at least. Hope your early scan goes well tomorrow, and also Castle's 20 week scan. 20 weeks is a huge milestone.
Big waves to Blondes, Light and Lucy. And yes Blondes, LH has been very quiet, hope she's OK. Same as Iamserious. And Happy! I am nosy do like to know how everyone is getting on.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 30/11/2016 19:50

Guzzled some OJ before scan and they managed to get a measurement, hurrah. Second day puke-free Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/11/2016 20:12

See oj works -tho tastes foul and makes me sick :(

Where as I've just stuffed a bag of malteasers and feel fine 😂😂

MotherofPearl · 30/11/2016 20:14

Peace, that's great news about the scan and - dare I say it - even better news about the meds finally working!

MotherofPearl · 30/11/2016 20:15

Peace, also meant to ask, how's the drowsiness now?

peaceloveandbiscuits · 30/11/2016 20:27

Still quite drowsy but nowhere near as knocked out as yesterday. I'm persevering.

LucindaE · 30/11/2016 21:11

Hello, everyone, Mother Hen has flapped back from Bucks. Terrible journey back. The car broke down and we had to be taken back by the Get You Home Service via two journeys on those breakdown vehicles. I've been reading through and wonderful advice as ever from MotherofPearl and
LightTripper and SleepymrsE. Hugs and thanks to you all. You are wonderful!
I thought this a great explanation of the Pink Castle idea from MotherofPearl
'It's a Pink Castle for everyone Lucy! It's from an old board game of Lucinda's, where your final destination square was a dreamy pink castle. She's said HG is a bit like that kind of 'game' (Vomit without peeing yourself? Move two squares forward! High ketones result in hospital admission? Move five squares backwards!).
Anyway, over time on this thread and its many predecessors, the Pink Castle has developed into a magical, mythical place which awaits all HG graduates: cushions are plumped in readiness, favourite meals laid on etc etc! You'll soon see it for yourself! '
I'll join her in being delighted that Lucy will soon be entering it's portals with baby boy. You really have suffered horribly, Lucy. Violent headaches in pregnancy are awful.
Blondes I seem to have missed how the orange juice recommendation came about - is that a joke or does it really make baby turn in some way?
Hmm Those are lovely shoes. You are indeed hardcore! I don't know how you do it. Congratulations on Waddle while You Walk...
peaceloveI am so happy that you feel a bit better.
babyand Good luck with scan.
fourcorneredcircle I am delighted the head was so good! That's wonderful. Congratulations on scan, too.
RobberBride Mother Hen flaps and clucks. You should NOT have been doing twelve hour days.
Castlefeck Am I getting stupidly mixed up - did you have a scan today?
Sneezypeasy Good news that you are a bit better.
Waves to User1477 and everyone. I hope everyone's OK today.
Apologies if I've rudely overlooked anyone.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/12/2016 05:56

Lucinda - I'm far from hardcore - just not gonna let hg ruin my only pregnancy I will ever have

Oj came about from many of my FB friends. When I said bubs wouldn't turn they all suggested oj

Scan ladies recommended caffeine. Hate coffee - chocolate and starjumps

But seems (for me) oj works so said to scan lady to tell others that

But as said previously made me very sick Monday. On way to hospital - inncar parkp and at reception desk

fourcorneredcircle · 01/12/2016 09:01

So, most mornings I manage to go to the loo before I vomit. This morning I did not have time. You all warned me this would happen eventually... but I didn't want to believe it.

MotherofPearl · 01/12/2016 09:40

Oh Four, you poor thing. That sounds like a low point for sure.

Welcome back Lucinda, and sorry to hear of nightmare journey. Hope car is mended now.

Peace, glad you're persevering with the meds and starting to be less affected by the drowsiness.

babyand · 01/12/2016 10:31

Not hg related I'm sure but have woke this morning and my whole mouth is sore. Every single tooth.

fourcorneredcircle · 01/12/2016 11:09

baby sore mouth came up yesterday too :) see if anything here is helpful to you

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2793579-Very-achy-mouth

Sneezypeasy · 01/12/2016 12:58

babyand it could well be HG related, a combination of stomach acid, the lovely HG junk food diet and tooth brushing being a vomiting trigger for some of us, means our teeth definitely suffer during HG.

Hopefully you don't need to go to dentist, but if you do make sure you mention HG, and may be worth mentioning it in your next check up anyway.

Here is a link from pregnancy sickness support in case it is of any use to you:

Hope you are having a better day today sickness-wise?

peaceloveandbiscuits · 01/12/2016 13:07

You might have been grinding your teeth in the night. It makes your teeth and jaw ache.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/12/2016 15:17

Oh no four but firmly grasps rosette to bosum !!!

I'm 43 and my Claim fame is that I haven't wet myself while puking and long may that stay 😂😂😂

So proud 😇😇😇

user1477229112 · 01/12/2016 17:14

Peeing yourself while vomiting deserves a prize ladies blondes you deserve a medal for excellent bladder control.

I know this question has probably been asked before but anyone who has had more than one child was hyperemesis worse with the second and did you think sex/gender of baby affected your sickness.

I have a 3 year old son and I was hospitalised several occasions with him so far with Meds I've managed to avoid hospital and also work granted I'm exhausted and still tactically vomiting. Just curious if it's easier to handle or easier opposite sex.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 01/12/2016 17:16

Mine is way worse with second baby. No idea on sex.

MotherofPearl · 01/12/2016 19:01

I've got worse with each subsequent pregnancy. Doesn't seem to be linked to the baby's sex, as far as I know.

SecondSunrise · 01/12/2016 20:20

Hello everyone I joined the end of the other thread but everything is a bit hectic here. Today is a bad day, and I just think what is the point of all this sickness? I cant think of anything I want to try to eat. At all.
I think the pregnancy resulting in my dd was the worst, but I think it got out of hand before taking meds. I've been a bit better taking meds from the start this time, but every pregnancy has had it.
I can identify with the Pink Castle analogy. I was puking all through labour but as soon as dd was out I was ravenous. The hospital food was amongst the most delicious I've ever tasted!

babyand · 02/12/2016 08:31

Hi all early scan went well measuring at 11 weeks today. She pointed out that yolk sac was still present and placenta not yet taken over.... come on placenta give me a break

MotherofPearl · 02/12/2016 09:37

Morning all,
Sunrise, sorry you're sill suffering. The sickness and nausea, when unrelenting, can really grind you down. What meds are you on?
Baby, congratulations on the scan. Yes they do say the sickness improves when the placenta takes over.
Been a bit quiet on here of late; hope that's a good sign.
