I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

13 weeks today. Sick in the street before 10am. What is life.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 28/11/2016 10:16

I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and call the doctors this afternoon. Are they likely to be able to prescribe and leave something for me at reception?

CastleFeck · 28/11/2016 10:30

Good luck Peace, hope you get something that helps.

Hope the scan goes well Four.

User yay at 16 weeks. The first tri is well and truly gone now.

Hi everyone else, going for a sleep I think I'm shattered today. Hats of to those working, I don't know how you do it with hg.

LightTripper · 28/11/2016 10:31

I can't remember if you've been prescribed something before peacelove? I was offered to have a re-prescription left at reception for me - or maybe they could do a phone consultation if they need one?

Sorry you are so ill again this morning. Definitely do get help xx

And hope your "normal" days are a relief Robber - 12 hours is crazy hard and I'm sure won't have been helping the HG. Could you even take it a bit easier than "normal" for a while so you can get back on an even course? Do you get TOIL or anything like that in your work?

Had my 26 week appointment this morning. Heard the HB which was very nice, and all seems to be fine in terms of BP etc.

LucyHMK · 28/11/2016 11:26

Thanks, ladies.

Peace I had a lot of phone consultations - Ondansetron was the only thing that helped me. Good luck.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 28/11/2016 11:58

Yes I was prescribed cyclizine about a month ago but had to stop taking it after a couple of days and haven't had the energy to go back since Confused hopefully it'll just be a case of leaving a prescription for the next one to try.

fourcorneredcircle · 28/11/2016 12:51

One slightly blurry baby...
Little monkey was curled up tight in a ball for most of it so they didn't manage to get a good enough view to do nuchal measurement. Bloods at 16 weeks instead.

They have put me a a few days forward though, so yay... hopefully I'm four days closer to no more HG!

HCP tried to get bloods, gave up, sent me to phlebotomy. Who managed no worries. I'm always very impressed with phlebotomist success rates compared to all others!

Was once in an accident that required a line putting in... paramedics who are normally pretty good in all sorts of dodgy medical situations gave up and canulated my foot!

Not sure how strict the bloods at 16 weeks things is? 16 weeks for me falls between Christmas and New Year - pretty sure I'm unlikely to get a midwife appointment then....

peaceloveandbiscuits · 28/11/2016 13:08

Same happened for me four I'm going back for a rescan and bloods on Wednesday.

LightTripper · 28/11/2016 13:52

My MW is seeing me a week ahead of Christmas, because otherwise our standard appointment would have landed on Boxing Day. I guess there will be a window for the blood tests, and that will dictate whether it can be before or after Christmas? Based on the NHS site it looks like they can do it from 14-20 weeks, so hopefully they can pull it slightly ahead of Christmas so you find out a bit earlier? www.nhs.uk/Conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/screening-amniocentesis-downs-syndrome.aspx

Phlebotomists are amazing aren't they! I always bruise really easily taking blood, but the few times I've had it done by a proper phlebotomost I've hardly felt it and had no bruising at all.

LightTripper · 28/11/2016 13:56

Hello peacelove - hopefully as you're already on their system you can just get a phone consultation to get a prescription for something else to try. Good luck ... let us know how you get on!

peaceloveandbiscuits · 28/11/2016 14:12

Waiting for a call back :)

fourcorneredcircle · 28/11/2016 15:38

Still waiting peace?

I didn't get the offer of a rescan :(

Does anyone know if the MW will know (or be able) to do the blood tests required? All the sonographer said was "ask your MW next time you see her to have them at 16 weeks"... but I won't see her until 16 17 week appointment!

I seem to spend so much of this pregnancy asking questions that everyone else knows the answers to, and seem to expect me to know too!

LightTripper · 28/11/2016 16:10

I would call your MW four as my guess is it might be a hospital appointment to do the blood test (I don't know - but better safe than sorry and you don't want to be waiting any longer than you have to!)

peaceloveandbiscuits · 28/11/2016 17:45

Yeah call the midwives office four because I think you might need the nuchal measurement as well as the blood test, and pretty soon.

There's a prescription waiting for me at the chemist Smile I didn't hear what e said it was but I've to take one at night to begin with.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 28/11/2016 18:23

It's promethazine (vertigon). I'm a bit nervous because it says they can be sedating and I can't really be a zombie with a 2yo! Anyone have experience?

MotherofPearl · 28/11/2016 18:48

Peace, I'm not a pharmacist but afaik promethazine and cyclizine are from the same family of drugs. They are both antihistamines, and both can cause drowsiness. Hope you have better luck this time in getting the sickness under control.
Four, hurrah for getting moved on with your dates! Pity about incomplete scan, but still always a boost to see the baby bobbing around in there.
I have it in mind that Blondes was being rescanned today, but perhaps I've got muddled?
Castle, hope you got some sleep?
User, sorry about the bug but glad you're feeling better otherwise.

fourcorneredcircle · 28/11/2016 19:29

Have left a message for the midwives. Hopefully one will call me back tomorrow :) thanks for your advice.

peace yay for new meds!

peaceloveandbiscuits · 28/11/2016 20:16

I'll give them a go Smile

babyand · 28/11/2016 20:18

peaceloveandbiscuits · 28/11/2016 20:23

Yeesh, I can imagine.

MotherofPearl · 28/11/2016 20:57

Oh Baby, I do feel for you! I remember a horrific spag bol meets HG incident in my last pregnancy. Too, too dreadful.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/11/2016 21:52

Orange juice worked. Bubs turned. Also made me throw up on the way to hospital - in hospital car park and by reception desk in a loo but all heard me
