Spotting, cramping, "is my clearblue digi accurate?",* viability scans, measuring behind, measuring ahead, high hcg, low hcg, morning sickness, lack of morning sickness, anomaly scans....

That's right, folks, it's the place where scanxiety really means something, where the feeling like you're always going to be on the wrong side of statistics nevers go away, and where moments of sheer terror are par for the course ...it's pregnancy after infertility.

Join if you want to hang out with a supportive group of women across all different stages of pregnancy who can't believe they got here and are hoping like hell its all going to be ok.

Sorry to hear that mist. It could be nothing though as spotting is quite common. Hope your results come through soon.

Just a quick question is it possible for the midwife to prescribe anti sickness meds or do I need to see my gp?

HelloMist · 20/10/2016 10:26

Thanks Lucieloos, trying to tell myself that.

friends123 · 20/10/2016 11:58

Oh gosh Lucy, you still have morning sickness. I hope that it gets better soon.

Hellomist. I'm sorry to hear about the bleeding. I had early bleeding too so I had a scan at 6 week and 8 weeks. I hope everything is okay. Is yourscan today or next Thursday?

Can I ask you guys for an opinion. I hope it's not tmi but I seem to be having a lot of discharge. Do you think this is normal so early on? I was wondering if I should go to the doctors but there's nothing really suspect about it, just the quantity.

HelloMist · 20/10/2016 12:22

Forgot I hadn't posted here: I had proper spotting this morning but it was brown, think it's easing off now.

friends could they see much at 6 weeks? My scan's next Thursday at 7 weeks.

Not sure about discharge sorry. Are you using pessaries still? How far along are you? Hope someone can help with advice.

friends123 · 20/10/2016 12:55

Hellomist,
I saw the heartbeat at 6weeks 2 days. I had/have what they called a subchronic haemorrhage it was still there at 8 weeks but the same size. After the first scan I was told that I could still have bleeding and it was likely to be brown. ( it rather comes out or your body absorbs it ) I did have further spotting and it was red! I showed the midwife the letter and she wasn't concerned at all and said it was probably implantation too.
I'm just 10 weeks, I've not had any other symptoms really so that worrying me now but I've not had any further spotting recently.
I don't use the pessaries because I conceived naturally a week before my IVF appointment after 3 years of trying.

HelloMist · 20/10/2016 15:36

it looks like I've had a MMC or CP (probably the latter, I'm not sure). Doctor chased the hcg blood results for me - declining and both were extremely low. Clinic says if a test tomorrow is bfn then stop the drugs and I don't need to come for my scan Sad, just book a wtf meeting.

Thank you Friend and for the other replies and support here. Sorry that you are worried and that you had the bleeding. The heartbeat is a good sign. I hope things go well for you.

lucieloos · 20/10/2016 15:48

Oh mist I'm so sorry lovely Sad

loopylou1984 · 20/10/2016 17:49

Mist I am so so sorry. Flowers

Lucie - I'm not sure if midwifes can prescribe? I got mine from my GP, called in the evening and the duty doctor called me in straight away. How bad is it for you?

Friends - my GP said increased discharge is normal in pregnancy but if it's itchy or off coloured then it's time to be seen.

Borisisback · 20/10/2016 17:50

Mist - Im so sorry Flowers

Friends - I have had loads of discharge..... Seems to be ok and part of the joy that no one warns you about.

Lucie - I thinknyiu need a gp or a senior nurse to prescribe drugs - my midwife certainly couldnt prescribe anything. Sorry you need them.

I'm now 35+4 and my hormones are going bonkers - Im crying loads.... Bah. Not fun

lucieloos · 20/10/2016 17:57

Thanks Sammy and Boris. I'm just feeling nauseous all the time apart from when I'm asleep. I'm not actually being sick but wretching in the toilet a few times a day as well. I don't know whether to try and stick it out longer or get the medication. I'm just a bit wary about taking stuff. I know they must be ok as you are all taking them and they wouldn't prescribe them otherwise. Argghh I wonder how much longer it will go on for!

loopylou1984 · 20/10/2016 18:24

Lucie that's what I was like. The nausea is exhausting.
Really whether you can carry on without depends on if you're still able to eat and drink? If not you def need them, and even if you can there's no need to suffer unnecessarily.

Boris - sorry you're feeling so tearful, how are you doing physically? Xx

lucieloos · 20/10/2016 19:03

Thanks Sammy, I am managing to get food and drink in me but it's not particularly healthy stuff as I have to just eat whatever I think I can stomach that particular day. It's just exhausting though like you say constantly feeling like this all the time. I think I will ask the midwife about it on Monday and see what she thinks.

Borisisback · 21/10/2016 07:26

Lucie my diet was pretty bad in the early days - but honestly if the pills might help do ask your health care people... They won't hurt and might give you a respite.

Sammy physically I'm ok thanks, getting massive now. I haven't got long at work - knowing I'll finish soon is helping.

I honest can't beleive that after years of counting down - counting down days to ovulation to have lots of sex, days to test every month for two years. Then over the last few months the days or weeks to the next scan.... I'm now counting down weeks till I meet my boy. It's only just feeling real. I'm actually you know pregnant with a baby who I can see and feel.

I know I wouldn't have got here without the help and advice of so many of you guys (sammy and lucie especially you for the ivf suport). I'm so grateful to so many strangers and so pleased to finally be shareing an anti natal thread with you. Xxxx

MPP81 · 21/10/2016 10:08

Mist, I am so, so sorry to hear that. I hope you are as ok as you can be. I am thinking of you xx

Friends, echoing the others about the discharge. It seems to be normal. I id wonder if it would ease up once I'd finished the pessaries but apparently not!

Nearly there, Boris!! So exciting!

Lucie, no advice I'm afraid, but I would ask the midwife her opinion. You might find, as the others said, that the medication could give you a little respite.

Sammy, I hope you're doing ok! :-)

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 21/10/2016 10:41

Mist, I'm really sorry to read your news. Xx

Friends, I'm the same re. the discharge. Such a lovely side effect.

Lucie, I hope you start feeling better soon. For me it was just nausea and wretching as well. I didn't get much sympathy from my obstetrician (he actually said 'That's great' Confused ) but I would definitely have taken something. Oh, and it lasted till about 15 weeks.

Boris, I can't believe you've only got a few weeks to go...it's getting exciting!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/10/2016 11:01

Mist so sorry to hear your devasting news 💐💐 be kind to your self

Friends no discharge at all but another bump buddy has lots

Lucie. Go and see gp. Don't suffer. I did for 4w and wish I went sooner

Now 17w and a lot better. Improved 14w. Still sick some days but generally ok

Boris. Whoop. Not long now

HopefulKate1980 · 21/10/2016 15:08

Mist I'm so very sorry. They are the toughest worst thing. be kind to yourself and just know this pain and heartache won't last forever. That's what I learnt to keep telling myself when I went through my miscarriages. Take care of yourself xx

Vixxfacee · 21/10/2016 15:27

Mist echoing everyone else to say i am so sorry that that this has happened to you. I hope you have somebody looking after you. Flowers

Vixxfacee · 21/10/2016 15:29

Lucie you should get the medication. Don't suffer when you don't need to!

Boris I am so happy that you can see the finish line!

HelloMist · 21/10/2016 18:10

Thank you, everyone. I've got my husband, DD and also told a friend and my Mum today so I do have some support. Spoke to the clinic's counsellor on the phone this afternoon, which was quite helpful and I can talk to her again next week if I want.

I had a BFN this morning (clinic asked me to test before stopping meds) which wasn't a surprise as I'm bleeding properly now. Had a mostly normal feeling day but little things trigger thoughts and memories.

I know a little now how awful pregnancy loss is and so I am sorry to anyone else who knows this pain. :(

Might lurk here for a short while depending how I feel. And hopefully eventually return :) It could be a few months before we can try again. Good luck to everyone x

Borisisback · 21/10/2016 18:56

Oh mist, again I'm so sorry. Life can be so cruelz There are no words that I can say at this time but Flowers and hugs to you.

Grumpelstiltskin · 21/10/2016 18:57

Hellomist I'm so sorry to hear this. It's awful, no matter when it happens. Glad you have family around you for support. Do stick around if you like, a lot of us have experienced similar and get it. There's also a ttc after miscarriage thread if that is useful down the line. Thinking of you Flowers

HelloMist · 21/10/2016 22:03

thanks Boris and Grumpel. I looked at threads in Body and Soul but couldn't see which would be most useful - thanks for that suggestion! and for saying I could stick around. I may do quietly.

HopefulKate1980 · 22/10/2016 08:48

In conception there is one called TTC after Miscarriage and it's a huge support group. Can you remind me how far gone you were? I'm not sure if this helps but I fell pregnant without a period after my 4th MC and I'm 20 weeks nearly 21. I was only 6/7 weeks though and the bleeding was quite ordinary really. But we were so keen to crack on and my consultant said to go for it xxx

lucieloos · 24/10/2016 13:09

Aww Boris, can't believe you're on countdown now so exciting!

I've just had my booking in appt which was lots of form filling. She booked me for my 12 week scan on 15th Nov. For those that are have had the harmony test or similar did you still have the nuchal scan? She said harmony is 99% accurate for downs and nuchal is 80-85% so is there any point?
