38+1 with dc2. Completely torn between wanting this baby out RIGHT NOW and wanting to wait at least until 1 September. Uncomfortable, hot, tired, can't sleep properly, baby's movements now all uncomfortable at best and physically painful at worst.

And my in laws arrive for that weekend later today. They have been asked not to arrive before 5pm so that I have the day to use as I please without waiting in for them; I would put money on them ringing the bell hours earlier while I'm trying to nap Angry

Congratulations space

dilli when i had DD the hospital made up a concoction of aromatherapy oils called the bomb that we could use. Dont know what was in it but could only use from 39weeks. I used to put some in the bath (with some milk so they dont just float on the surface) think i had a bath everyday with them and also put a bit of oil on my bump. Iv heard clery sage can help with contractions

SockQueen · 18/09/2016 15:07

Midwife has just left. My cervix is getting softer and more effaced, and is 2-3cm dilated, so we're getting there! Now I just need some contractions to start to get this baby moving!

Annarose2014 · 18/09/2016 15:26

Due date today. I (hopefully) have a sweep with the obstetrician bloke in their weekly hospital clinic on Wednesday, but is there anything I can do to encourage it before then?

Other than sex (seriously not able I'm afraid ) pineapple (yuck) or curry (have been eating loads of it and am sick of it!)

There's nothing going on at all, baby seems happy as a clam in there. No cramps, no show....I'm not a happy bunny!

0hCrepe · 18/09/2016 15:32

I woke in the night at 3 am convinced my waters were trickling and was awake after that till I phoned triage about 6.30. They got me to lie down for an hour (at home) to see if waters collected... They didn't!! So nothing happening here still after really thinking it might be!!

MillieMoodle · 18/09/2016 16:14

Anna I honestly thought I would end up being induced (again). Had an attempted sweep at 5 days overdue, midwife said cervix was very posterior, soft and closed. Had another attempted sweep at 9 days overdue, different midwife said she didn't think there had been any change since the previous attempt; cervix very posterior, soft and she couldn't reach to feel whether open or closed. That was 2.30pm. I bounced on my ball for about 15 mins later that afternoon but felt really disheartened and resigned to being induced. Just before 6pm I felt a bit crampy, started timing the cramps in case they were contractions and realised they were about 4 mins apart, got to hospital at 7.45pm and was 4cms, by 12.30am I was only 6cms but he was born at 2.40am so I went from 6cms to delivery in just over 2 hours. Things can change really quickly if baby decides they're ready to come out!

I didn't have a show and my waters didn't go til I was pushing. The only indication was that I had an upset stomach a couple of days before, but that could have been a dodgy takeaway Grin

I tried none of the things that are meant to start labour this time, except for the ball. With DS1 I tried everything except sex and he was 12 days late and I was induced.

I think the only thing this time was I stopped stressing about it, as I was resigned to being induced. I really hope baby doesn't keep you waiting much longer though! Flowers

Littleone2016 · 19/09/2016 03:31

Hi, Can I join please? I'm utterly fed up now and want baby out! Sad

I'm 40 weeks today and been having contractions and losing my plug since Friday morning.

At first they were 5 minutes apart and I was happy things were starting but then they became less frequent and now they are just plain irregular! Anything between 5 and 30 minutes apart!

I can't sleep because contractions are much more painful when lying down so every one wakes me up!

So tired of the pain and tiredness!
Come on baby!!

Goldenvalley · 19/09/2016 07:29

Hi little, welcome!

0hCrepe · 19/09/2016 07:56

Hi little! That does sound annoying but hopefully when things do get going they have had a good warm up!
I'm now 40+2 with dc3. Next youngest is 10 so I've forgotten everything! No signs here really, just increasing pelvic pain making walking really hard. Will be induced Thursday if nothing happens first.

Dilligufdarling · 19/09/2016 08:41

Hi little
Welcome aboard :)
I'm with you on the sleepless nights, feel like I spent most of the night tossing and turning. Oddly am not at all tired though. Am hoping that means that my body is getting ready for post birth!

Definitely am much better again today from my fall on Friday. I do have another chiropractor appointment tomorrow, but I'm not sure whether I'm going to cancel it.

Had the most ridiculously emotional day yesterday. Couldn't stop crying all over the place! Poor DH didn't know whether to leave me to it or try and help.... Neither approach worked all that well tbh!

Annarose2014 · 19/09/2016 12:28

Oh thank god someone else had an emotional day!

40+1 and have been weepy all morning. Feel fragile as fuck and now DH is starting to get all anxious and tense too. He's being lovely, but he looks like Hell. So obviously I'm feeling irrationally guilty that I'm not just giving birth and ending all this dreadful waiting!

NEVER AGAIN!

TheInimitableMrsFanshawe · 19/09/2016 13:31

Can't quite believe I'm still here with no baby. Induction tomorrow.

Goldenvalley · 19/09/2016 13:34

Haha annarose 'never again' has become my mantra this time around. I haven't even had a tough pregnancy, just finding it all so much more emotional this time.

SockQueen · 19/09/2016 13:35

Still no progress here - I was hoping that things would ramp up overnight after the sweep but it's just the same. I slept a little better last night though, so feeling more human today.

Goldenvalley · 19/09/2016 13:42

Glad you got some sleep sock that'll count for something when it all kicks off. I go to bed every night wondering if tonight's the night. I'm only 38 weeks, it could be a long wait but I can't relax this time.

0hCrepe · 19/09/2016 13:52

Just rang dh to find out the now tv password. He sounded quite excited to have a call till I put him straight. Made a very spicy soup (somewhat accidentally).
Can hardly walk with pelvic pain but feel quite chilled out/happy, luckily. I'm sure the emotions will hit!

popthisoneout · 19/09/2016 21:36

Hope things start for you before tomorrow Mrs Fanshawe and if not the induction goes well.

I'm 41 weeks today. Midwife did a sweep but couldn't reach the baby's head. Im 1cm dilated which is better than nothing I guess but feeling a bit disappointed.

Booked in for an induction on Saturday so bouncing away on my ball. Had a long protracted forceps delivery last time and really wanted to breath this one out Wink

Hope this are ramping up for you little and going in the right direction.

TheInimitableMrsFanshawe · 20/09/2016 04:32

Thanks pop. Nothing doing, I'm just happy not to gave to be pregnant much longer. Bit scared that since baby has shown no signs of budging so far that it will turn into a failed induction and end up with a CS. I've hot no problem with a CS per se, but I've got a neglected toddler at home end I would much preferred to be prepared for that outcome all along. My parents are local but going away for three weeks in three weeks' time.

popthisoneout · 20/09/2016 05:26

I can totally understand that. It's completely different logistics when you already have one isn't it?
Hopefully body will respond and it will be plain sailing, especially it's has done it before. Were you induced before?

My waters went a 3.30am and I've had a few contractions so I'm hoping this is the start of things. I had a 60 hour labour last time, would be nice if I could pop this one out while DS was at school!

0hCrepe · 20/09/2016 07:05

Oh best of luck for today you two.
Really hope it's plain sailing all round.
Nothing happening for me here.

Dilligufdarling · 20/09/2016 07:08

Good luck pop fingers crossed for a lovely quick and easy labour for you!

mrsFan definitely get what you mean. My DS is 4 and having one already has completely changed what being pregnant is like (and made me reconsider the previously planned for third child!). I haven't really thought how different the recovery stage will also be but it's going to be very much busier I imagine.
Really hope that your Induction is a massive success and that it all goes very very well for you.

I'm going to a "positive birth movement" coffee morning today. Am really looking forward to it. Has anyone heard of these?

SockQueen · 20/09/2016 13:07

Good luck pop and MrsFanshawe! Hope all goes well for you both!

I had a bit of an emotional breakdown in Waitrose yesterday Blush - just started crying because I was so frustrated that nothing is happening and that they didn't have any raspberry leaf tea! DH looked after me well though, bless him. Only two days till induction, I'm having slightly more painful tightenings than before but still couldn't call them contractions. And it's looking like my parents won't be able to see the baby once he arrives as they're flying off to Germany tomorrow for a week. Sad

Goldenvalley · 20/09/2016 15:28

Ah sock your choice of supermarket for a meltdown was very classy. Sorry to hear you felt like that, and glad your DH stepped up and looked after you.

I've just had an appointment with my midwife, baby is 3/5 engaged (not that that means much) and I was up all night with a dodgy stomach which may or may not be a sign that things are on the move - I felt so ill I wonder if it was actually a bug really. Still getting lots of Braxton hicks. Next appointment is in 3 weeks time- I'm really hoping baby has arrived by then!

Dilligufdarling · 20/09/2016 18:43

Evening all!

Ah sock those emotional break downs are incredible aren't they?! Over almost nothing and yet it's so hard to get a hold on yourself. Hormones have a massive amount to answer for! Am glad your DH was there to help. Only 2 days left though - that's very exciting!

golden i can remember how many weeks you are?

I've had a bit of an upset stomach today and LOADS of fanny daggers. Could be something or nothing.
I'm seeing the midwife tomorrow, and fairly sure that the head is still free, but would be interesting to know what my cervix is doing.
I think she'll offer to do a sweep (will be 39+4) but at the moment I'm inclined to wait and see what happens on its own.

Haven't had my standard nap today... Am missing it hugely but it's probably too late now Sad

Dilligufdarling · 21/09/2016 05:30

Feeling a bit pre laboury this morning - vaguely crampy and a bit nauseous... Am fairly sure the head has engaged as well which is an imminent sign in 2nd timers ( I think).
Don't feel ready for the baby to come yet though!
Have decided I'd quite prefer to wait until next Tuesday. That will give me time to finish all of the things I've just remembered I need to do and the have one more chill day with DS at school.

Annarose2014 · 21/09/2016 07:28

I had a lot of discomfort from 5pm yesterday evening. We went to bed on tenterhooks. Every time I turned over I thought my waters would go! The pressure eased off at midnight but I still got next to no sleep. I was up at 6.15 with DS and tbh I didn't even mind as I wasn't sleeping anyway!

Now I just feel a tiny bit of pressure but nothing much. I have an appointment with the gynae later and am hoping they'll do a sweep as I'm 40+3. Fingers crossed!
