The letter definitely said I could have an empty bladder... who knows?!? Here's hoping it's an external!!!

OP posts:
greedyforbabies · 13/02/2007 09:25

ok ............. so everything i said about blood volume seems to have been inaccurate! just looked it up in some other places and it seems it only increases by 40 % and starts increasing at 6 wks, so i cant use that as an excuse for my weight gain..............i am just a fat bloater who has been eating too much!

Chooster · 13/02/2007 11:02

Ahh, Greedy - I was hoping to use the same excuse for my bloater like appearance!!!!

Still not told work - am so rubbish... I'm now over 17wks so need to do it soon. If I was in any doubt about whether it was noticeable or not, I went out for dinner with some friends last night and the FIRST thing they all said was "Oh my God you're pregnant again" - OK, I'm on holiday on Thurs / Fri so will definately tell work by the end of tomorrow then run away

About the scans, I think if you are going to be scanned by newer equipment you dont need a full bladder - if its older equipment you do need a full bladder. Due to moving I've had 12 week scans in 2 different places and the first time it was there was no need for a full bladder (external scan) I got a great picture too!!!

Oops got a meeting at 11am - I'll be back

CONGRATS Pinkranger on your good news - am really really pleased for you!!!!

KitKat30 · 13/02/2007 11:14

Come on Chooster - I've told everyone now and it was pretty painless!! Do it today!!

Hello all! don?t be cross, and please don?t tell me I am tempting fate but I booked an early pregnancy scan with a private clinic for when I am 10+5, we really want to tell our families on Mother?s Day, my MIL is going to be beside herself and it doesn?t look like we?ll get the NHS one until between 12 & 14 weeks. I know this is risky when I am yet to have the early scan to check all is ok but I figured that I can cancel if things are bad (and doing that will be the least of my worries) whereas if I wait, we might not get an appointment before Mother?s Day. What do you think?

Babymad ? hope the 16 week appointment goes well. Hope I have a pg like your first one, especially the birth! It must be funny wondering what the Lo will be like, I?m not really at that point yet but I do hope it has DH?s lovely almond eyes and his laid back attitude. I really want to know if it?s one or two. Sounds odd and I don?t mean to be greedy but as there are so many twins in my family, I just want to know so that we can get used to the idea!

Hi Firststar ? here I am not doing much concentrating ? AGAIN!

Conkertree ? that?s excellent! Like that! How lovely for you and your sis to be so close in due dates!

Hey Greedy ? know what you mean about the MS, exciting for about 5 mins and then just feels like car sickness and you want it to go away (munching on oatcakes ? seems to help!) I missed all this about homebirths. My sister had one with DS#2, I don?t even know where I?ll be living but DH is keen for us to go to hospital. I get some pains too Greedy. Thanks for your tip on the HB, did think I would hear it hope the scan goes well on Monday. I hope mine will be sometime next week too.

Hello Chooster DH and I are both blue eyed but we both have a brown eyed parent so I wonder what our kids will be like, my Dad and DH?s mum are both dark with olive skin, I hope our baby gets the skin at least. That made me laugh about work, I?m not looking forward to that either, agree though, think you need to say soon, your bump is getting bigger How exciting about the movements!!!

Pinkranger ? so glad it all went well! I?m introverted too, all the women in my family are. It means an extra full bladder doesn?t it!?

Welcome Detentiongrll! what?s your story?

Hi Bodkin ? how are you doing?

Hello Fettle ? MN = MS ! I know what you mean about feeling blurgh, that?s how I feel today (and I went to bed at 8.45 last night!) I?ve got a niggling headache between my eyes. Actually feel a bit hung over! I know what you mean about the equipment ? it is REALLY overwhelming! Can we start a best buy list of all those things and a list of what you actually REALLY need? That would be great! As we plan to move abraod before the baby is 3 months, I was hoping a moses basket would do and we could get a cot there?

Spain - my parents live there and we have decided to join them. Scary stuff all this happening at once but we want to be there by the end of the year (but I want to have the baby here!)

i've added to the list

i've just been to the gp and he's booked me in for a scan tommorrow morning, bacause i've got pains and spotting. i'm not allowed to eat drink for 2 hours before and he thinks it will be an internal scan!! now i'm terrified! has anybody had one? does it hurt? i have panic attacks when i have a smear!

Chooster · 13/02/2007 13:41

I think its a great idea MrsMc to get the early scan done. My friend did the exact same thing as she wanted to tell work early. It'll be wonderful to get that extra early re-assurance and you'll see so much more then that at your next scan. Wow, I wonder if it is twins!!! Hope the MS isn't too bad.

Firststar - thats a shame the doctors you saw were a bit of a joke - I hope you get answers to your quesitons and queries soon. But you are so right, this conception, pregnancy, labour lark isn't a walk in the park is it?!?!?!

Fettle - Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit yuk. Fingers crossed it'll pass really soon. Maybe because its winter and cold with bugs going around isn't really helping. Already having a little one doesn't really help either.

Hope the midwife appt went well babymad!!!

x

KitKat30 · 13/02/2007 13:42

hi J2O - dont worry, it really doesnt hurt at all. The scanner is a long probe, which they insert very gently while you lie on your back. It really didnt hurt at all - much more comfortable than a smear I think.

It's more embarrassing than anything else! I felt a bit of a tit standing there in my jumper and boots and nothing else!!

Am hoping for an external scan this time around to save my blushes! Either way, it's worth it for your peace of mind. Good luck with the scan, hope it all goes well. Let us know how you get on.

J20BABY · 13/02/2007 13:43

thanks, i'm such a big baby! do you have to stand up?

Chooster · 13/02/2007 13:44

Sorry - crossed with you J20baby - I'm afraid I can't help though as I've never had an internal scan but I'm sure there'll be someone here soon who has. Fingers crossed for you.

KitKat30 · 13/02/2007 13:44

Nope - you lie down on a bed (much like the ones in doctors' surgeries), and I had my feet in some stirrups which were attached to the end of the bed.

OP posts:
J20BABY · 13/02/2007 13:46

oh god, i hate the stirrups! why can't i be a man and have a pregnant wife?
ok thanks for the imfo, will let you all know how it goes tommorrow

j20baby - i responded to you on another thread - but they are reaaly nothing to worry about. i didnt have any stirrups either! just flopped my legs out to the sides! so so so much better than a smear! i hate them!

J20BABY · 13/02/2007 14:06

thanks, i know i posted it on 3 threads by accident! doh!

MrsMcJnr · 13/02/2007 14:09

J20baby - don't worry, my experience was painless, dignity preserved and no stirrups, hope it goes well for you!

greedyforbabies · 13/02/2007 17:14

do you know what? i am fucking pissed off! i have started bleeding again and its bright red again. i am getting pissed off with this. if i am going to lose this baby i think i would rather it just happened. i dont know what to think again. its my own fault for tempting fate and making a midwife appointment.
oh shit i really hope i am just being a drama queen. i feel like every day i have some problem.......cramps yesterday, bleeding today. HELP!

BabyMadwithBump · 13/02/2007 19:04

Babymad-bump is fine and well and active haerd the HB (MrsMcJur do you want me to CAT it you?)

J20BABY · 13/02/2007 19:21

for Greedy {{{{{{{{{{big hug}}}}}}}}}}

don't stress out, it may be nothing, bleeding is common in pregnancy and doesn't mean that anything is wrong. when's your next appointment?

greedyforbabies · 13/02/2007 19:26

i had a scan last monday cos of the bleeding i have had so far and all was ok as far as they could tell. i thought it had stopped, but then i had more again today and it was fresh blood again. i am just a bit fed up with not knowing whats going on, and i just start to relax and then i bleed again and start to worry again. my next scan is next monday, guess i will just wait till then. sorry for going on and being all me me me again. havent even told dh that i have been bleeding again cos i think he is getting sick of hearing me go on about it...........one day i am.......the next day im not
