my scan was FAB!!! little one was jumping about with his/her tongue poking in and out and his/her mouth opening and closing all the time! it always amazes me how much they move and that i can feel NOTHING at all!!! it made me cry........OBVIOUSLY! and its so hard trying to keep your stomach still while you are crying so they can keep scanning you.

we told my ds afterwards (we had already told dd, cos we figured she wouldn't really understand and therefore wouldn't be upset or ask questions if we lost it). my ds's first question was "how did the baby get in your tummy" and then he said " i didn't see daddy put the seed there, when did he put it in? did he cut your tummy open?"................i KNEW he would ask difficult questions as soon as we told him!!

kitkat - i meant to say earlier - if your physio doesn't help with the SPD you should really consider a chiropractor. preferably a McTimoney Cirporactor (which is what i am!) who knows about pg women, cos i have had some great results with patients with SPD. chiropractic and probably osteopathy or other manipulation can really help.

greedyforbabies · 21/03/2007 16:42

oh dear! that should have said McTimoney Chiropractor!

Chooster · 21/03/2007 16:51

Greedy ? so delighted that you had such a great scan I really am so pleased (and very because I should have been seeing that this week too am I allowed to say that? Don?t want to make you feel bad ? I know it?ll happen for me sometime)

mrs - of course you are allowed to say whatever you want. i did feel a bit guilty saying it went well cos i knew you would read this, but i know you understand and of course you must feel upset that it should be you too. more big hugs to you ( you really must be special you know, cos i am so restrained with my hugs normally).

firsty - somehow, in my completely self obsessed way, i managed to miss your news about spotting. i am sorry. you had some early spotting too didn't you, if i remember rightly. i think if you have any spotting early on, then you are a bit prone to it throughout the whole pg. i certainly had it on and off during the whole of both my other pgs, but much more to begin with. i hope it doesn't come back, its such a worry isn't it?

fettle · 21/03/2007 18:42

Greedy - fantastic news!!! So happy for you!
Great questions from DS - all DD said after my last scan was why the lady at the hospital had looked at my tummy with the thing that goes beep on the shopping in the shops!! Wonder how much I cost!!

Sorry not got long to chat.

Big hugs to you Mrs!

Firststar - sorry to hear about your spotting - hope it is nothing to worry about.

Welcome back. Kit-kat - glad to hear you sounding better.

Hungry thinking about ham recipes! Hope the food is good tonight and the chat not too intellectual (I doubt it), but the subject of Winnie the Pooh had better not surface!!! [out at DH work-do!!!]

Take care all
xxxx

Chooster · 21/03/2007 19:17

Good to hear from you MrsMc - It must be a hard time for you but its great you pop back on here to see us. And you are right Greedy - she is a very special caring lady!

Got home from work tonight at 5.30 and DS was already in bed... He was fairly tired when he woke up this morning so I knew it was going to be an early one for him. But DH told me that when he was eating his dinner, he suddenly stood on his chair, pulled his trousers and pants down and said really excited "Look at my willy" He had a big erection but managed to squeeze it back in his pants after telling it "You live in there". Boys are FAB!!! He's starting to love the things his willy can do. Bless....

x

Bodkin · 21/03/2007 20:50

Greedy - fantastic news! That's fab you could see so much detail! Was it a normal scan or 3D/4D one? And do you think you'll find out the sex at your 20 week scan?

Oh Chooster - that is hilarious about your DS! As is your ham incident. I have visions of you and DH driving back from costco with this ginormous lump of ham weighing down one side of the car (a bit like in the opening credits of the flintstones if anyone remembers that)

MrsMc - I think it's only natural to feel "I wish it was me". And you are right - it WILL happen for you.

Firsty - sorry to hear about the spotting, hope it's stopped now.

It's funny, I am actually really looking forward to giving birth (well not so much the pain, more the whole experience and meeting him/her) but in a complete panic about having a tiny baby (and jealous 3 year old) to look after again. It means I am constantly swinging from excited to terrified. Its exhausting! Anyone else feel like that?

KitKat30 · 22/03/2007 08:48

Great news about the scan Greedy! Was it too early to tell the flavour? Also thanks for the tip about the chiropracter (I remembered you were one and kept meaning to ask you about SPD ). Will definitely think about it if I have no luck with physio.

The good news is that I think my osteopath is really helping - I had a second session with her yesterday, and although I was in agony last night, I feel really good today. Hardly any pain at all. Yippee!! Feeling so much better in myself - especially after the bacon sarnie for breakfast!

Chooster! That's hilarious about your DS!! Guess I'll have to get used to incidents like that!!

Bodkin I also swing between being excited and terrified - mostly terrified actually! I just have no idea what to do with a baby...I MUST buy some parenting books soon! Have to say though - I am in no way looking forward to the birth...am absolutely petrified!

Morning to everyone else - hope you're all OK?! Incidentally - would it be worth starting a TTC Graduates thread #2? My PC is taking aaages to upload this mammoth thread now...

Greedy ? please don?t feel guilty hon, it would break my heart if things weren?t going well and I really mean it when I say I am so delighted that your little one is thriving. I?m just a bit envious because it should be me too but really that is the only feeling ? I NEED to hear all is well with you, I really do Dates and milestones are plaguing me today, based on LMP, I would have been 12 weeks today, it was 3 weeks today that I started to MC (I think) and it is apparently CD22 for me and I am STILL waiting to OV DH is being great too, outstanding effort, let?s hope it?s not all in vein. I bought some tests in Boots as I was going to do one this morning to see if they are negative yet (they whole concept feels so weird I have to say) but I couldn?t be bothered. I think I still know that there?s HCG following about (hence the lack of OV I think). Maybe I?ll test when I know I?ve OVd. I?m putting an unhealthy amount of hope into conceiving again immediately, I know it but can?t help it. I do appreciate the hugs; I know they are special ones!

Firsty ? I have read a couple of books recently and one of them is on trying again and being pregnant again after a mc etc. It is really good because it covers far more reasons for bleeding etc than the other books because obviously its target audience at women who are petrified already. It said that bleeding can be due to the lining of the uterus adjusting itself as well as the other reasons we already know about. I?ll read the chapter again tonight and give you a summary tomorrow. Hopefully, it?ll help put your mind at rest. It does seem so common. Hope it?s stopped anyway.

Fettle ? hope you had fun last night

Chooster ? thanks [hon] PMSL out loud that is HILARIOUS about DS and his willy! I love that!! My Mum brought us up telling us she was so glad she had little girls as little boys are always touching themselves! Now she has 2 grandsons, she?s obsessed with their bits more than they are! yup, odd mother!! My youngest nephew is 1 on Monday, I can?t believe it! He was 5 weeks old when he came up here for my hen (with his Mum of course!). DH has bought him a football strip (from guess where!!??) My sis won?t be impressed!

Bodkin ? I can understand why you can?t wait to meet him/her! Your DD will probably be incredibly proud and protective over the baby, I have seen that with lots of my friends elder ones, especially when there?s 3 years between them I hope it?s that way with you! Don?t know why but I think you?re going to have a boy this time, but hey, I?m often wrong (aren?t I Chooster!?)

Hello KitKat ? glad you are feeling much better feels like ages ago that we saw you on here. Missed you!

chooster! i actually covered my mouth in horror when i read about your ds! how old is he? i am now starting to worry about my ds cos i don't think he has ever had an erection! or i haven't seen it if he has. i know one of my friends told me her ds wakes up with one every morning, but mine doesn't (i have checked!) are they full blown erections? i do hope my ds has nothing wrong in that department!

bodkin - i am REALLY looking forward to the baby being born. not at all scared about having another tiny baby and neither should you be! my dd was sooooooooooooo easy to look after as a baby, she was an angel. they really dont do anything. i do think its a bit of a shock going from one to two though, i remember feeling a bit frazzled! and you do end up spending all your time with the older one still and then feeling guilty that you are neglecting the new baby! i expect my new baby will get completely neglected!

my ds normally shouts for me to come in his bedroom when he wakes up in the morning. this morning he just got hmself up and went for a wee without yelling for me which is very unusual. when i asked him why he didn't call for me he said " i didn't want to be noisy and wake up the baby in your tummy mummy!" how sweet!

Chooster · 22/03/2007 10:15

Hi,

Good to hear from you MrsMc - I'm sure its perfectly natural to want to conceive straight away and we'll all be keeping our fingers crossed that you do! If you dont then please try not to be dis-heartened (although I know that'll be difficult!)

Wow, your nephew is one! Is he getting a Hibs or Scotland strip? My cousin bought my DS a Newcastle strip for his 1st birthday and I've got to say he looks gorgeous in it!

It is strange about boys and their willies. If DS's nappy / pants are off he's constantly having a little rummage. His favourite trick is lying in the bath so everything is under teh water apart from his head and willy and his shouts "Look my willy's poking out" He thinks its the best toy in the world. Got to say I find it hysterical... not sure how I'll handle it if he starts doing these thigs in public I know there have been a few threads on the behaviour section about boys happily exposing their bits at the drop of a hat.

So pleased you are feeling better Kitkat! It sounds like the treatment is really working for you. Its amazing how many of the people on MN suffer from SPD - I'd hardly heard of it before. Hope the improvment continues.

Bodkin - You are not far wrong with your ham image - the fridge almost shook when the ham was plonked in it.

I can totally understand what you mean about being excited and terrified! Although my birth experiences have required intervention I'm fairly hopeful for a natural delivery this time and I'm wierdly looking forward to it as well. Like you I'm not that keen on feeling the pain again but the whole experience is just amazing. The terrified bit tends to relate to what happens next, just like you I'm a little concerned about my DS being really jealous at the same time as I'm tired and not getting much sleep.

But we found a video of DS when he was 6 wks old the other evening and watched it and he was just so good and well behaved. And I didn't look that knackered, so maybe my memory is a bit distorted.

Anyway I've waffled on for long enough... Although, Greedy, I must add that me and DH could almost beat you in the non-romantic stakes. As I said DS was asleep when I got home yesterday so I said to DH "We must have sex tonight, its been ages!" and he replied "Well, why dont you just hop on now"... Not really mills and boon is it?

Gosh, I obviously took far too long writing that post - There's been loads more since. (Done no work either!)...

Greedy - Love the story about your DS - he sounds like an absolute angel. I'm looking forward to when my DS starts making more sense. Can I ask, does your DS make up whopping lies? This morning we were having breakfast when DS pointed to the corner of the room (where the curtain is) and said "that man hit me", the more he said it the more freaked I got and started to think we had a ghost - then he pointed out the window and said "that tree hit me", "that robin hit me" etc... Anyway, I digress... My DS is 2yrs 10months and, yes they are full blown erections. I've got no idea what triggers them but he thinks its great.

Glad there has been no more spotting Firststar and the doppler gave you some re-assurance.!!

Hi to everyone else

MrsMcJnr · 22/03/2007 11:06

Ah, your DS sounds so sweet Greedy!

Chooster ? it?s Hibs! I should think the appeal of your DS?s favourite toy will never wear off!! By the way, there is a special winner?s supplement in the paper shops at the mo for £1.50, it?s done by the Evening News ? think of the gratitude if you got one for DH?! (or is he not quite as obsessed as mine!) BTW PMSL when DH teased me last night asking if real or virtual people were coming for lunch ? had visions of 2 of us sat at a table made up for 5!

Chooster · 22/03/2007 11:13

hee hee I know what you mean... Somtimes when I get home and say "I had lunch with MrsMcJ today (obviously replacing cyber name with RL name)" He says in a really patronising way "Now, you can tell me the truth, is she defiately real?"

greedyforbabies · 22/03/2007 11:43

i am so jealous that you two actually know each other in RL! i would love to meet you both for lunch! guess its a bit far to come though!

my dd makes up lies chooster, she is only 2.2 and doesn't talk much yet. but what she does say is generally a lie! she keeps telling everyone i have an elephant in my tummy for a start! (mind you, i guess she could be right, i will have to wait and see!). my ds has never really told fibs, not yet anyway! he has constantly got his hand down his trousers though............and he is either playing with his label (whats THAT all about?)......or his willy! he loves them both! its a bit disturbing when says to my dd in the bath " can you wash my willy for me please!"

KitKat30 · 22/03/2007 12:13

I don't know if I can cope with my (soon to be) DS playing with his bits!!! It's bad enough when DH has a sneaky fiddle

Right then - I'll start a new thread. Dont leave me on there on my own!!!
