We've got through a whole thread! Hope it's ok that I took the liberty of starting a new one.

Newbies, if you've had fertility treatment and found that it actually worked, this is the thread for you! We're a supportive group of women battling everything from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding, and we generally can't believe this is really happening for us!

First thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2584015-Pregnancy-after-infertility

Yay Lucie!!! Brilliant news, congrats on the not so little heart beat :). Xx

HelloMist · 12/10/2016 17:55

Blondes thanks. Yes, as you say suddenly 4w preg after official test date! My scan is likely to be 7w. I have to test again tomorrow and I think they'll give me an appointment as long as it's bfp again. (Is this a common thing? nerves again). How was your scan?

I will ask the clinic when I phone tomorrow, but is it worth trying to get in the system and telling my GP/getting a booking in appointment or would you wait for the early scan first? Last time I did the latter but then was only seen at around 10w I think. I don't want to get ahead of myself but I feel like they may see me sooner if I contact them further in advance. The appointment won't be set in stone. I am partly thinking about this because I want to get the flu jab and not sure if can get free one before I get the exemption card.

how was everyone's day?

lotsoffreckles · 12/10/2016 18:45

Friends big hugs so sorry you're spotting, such a worry but positive you're MW is not worried, although I know that does nothing to calm nerves.

Lucie that's amazing, I was so nervous during my 1st and my consultant was so quite so on the bed I convinced myself something was wrong....

Mist congrats. I decided to contact my MW department straight away but still got seen at 10 weeks, I don't think you will be seen any sooner than that by the MW for you're booking in appointment if that's what you're asking? Xx

HelloMist · 12/10/2016 21:38

Thanks Freckles, suppose not everyone even knows at this stage so there's no hurry! And booking in is mostly form filling. I can ask about the flu jab though. x

MPP81 · 12/10/2016 21:52

Welcome Icy and belatedly, welcome Freckles

Loads of lovely scan news, I see!

Lucie I know I've said elsewhere, but thats fantastic news! I am so, so happy for you!! Also, I was the same re: baths and actually had my first one last night after reading up extensively. As others have said, general rule seems to be as long as its not too hot, its fine.

Friends Lovely to hear your scan went well. I also have an extremely retroverted uterus apparently. It must be nerve wracking to have the spotting but if the midwife isnt worried then that must be a good thing.

Ghengis lovely to hear your scan went well, and congrats on your little boy!

Sammy Also fab to hear about your scan, though a shame you couldnt find out what you are having. Hopefully you dont have long to wait til the next scan. Beautiful pics of your lovely twins!!!

Stealth fab news for you too. A big baby might sound scary but its positive that growth is going well :-)

No real news from me. I've dropped down to a half dose of progesterone since last friday and will be stopping completely this Friday. Less than a week now til my 12 week scan and the scanxiety is high. I really wish I'd booked an extra private scan but there's no point worrying about that now I suppose.

Hope everyone else is ok!

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/10/2016 22:55

Lucie so lovely seeing the heart the first time

Mist - no harm in contacting to make an app. Many see mw at 8/10w. Scan went really well

Scanner lady always lovely (private scan) and knows me well from many pre ivf scans on cycles that failed

All is good with bubs. Also did 4d as df really wanted to see. I think looks like an alien

Blondes, brilliant scan pics glad all is going well.

For those that have had the harmony test can being on meds like pred and clexane affect the results at all? I'm sure I read something somewhere? Also how are the results presented with the harmony? Will it be negative / positive or will it give me a % chance for each trisomy?

friends123 · 13/10/2016 09:48

Lucie. I'm so pleased. Such fantastic news.

Hellomist. I went in at 4 weeks and told mine. I then had an appointment at 8.5 weeks. Congratulations.

MPP. I'm trying to hold out until my 12 week scan now. Well I say 12 week but I've still not received my scan date yet. 3 weeks seems like so far away mind. All the best for your scan.

Blondes. Fab scan pictures. How many weeks is that again?

Midwife really wasn't concerned. I went in a bit of a mess because I've still had no morning sickness either. I bet she thought I was crackers. Thanks ladies.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/10/2016 10:41

16w today so pics 15/6

stealthbanana · 13/10/2016 11:30

lucie I was on pred and it doesn't affect it at all. It is an analysis of your baby's chromosome pairs - if medication could affect your genetic make up I bet pred & clexane would be the subject of much more scientific chat!

They express it as a 1 in X chance, not as a percentage.

stealthbanana · 13/10/2016 11:30

(sorry I did the panorama not the harmony, so ignore the second part - I don't know the answer to that!)

OP posts:
Blue2014 · 13/10/2016 12:41

Lucie - meds don't impact the harmony test

loopylou1984 · 13/10/2016 17:50

16w6 today and I'm feeling crampy :(. Should I be worried? It's very mild and possibly bowel related as am a bit constipated Blush
I keep thinking what if something's wrong and I'm just dismissing it? Xx

Grumpelstiltskin · 13/10/2016 20:04

Hey Sammy, it's possibly just stretching given you've got two in there jostling for space (and I also had a bit of cramping around then IIRC) but if you're concerned the midwife is there to help, I imagine especially given multiples. The worry never ends!

stealthbanana · 13/10/2016 20:08

sammy I felt very sore around the 16w mark. I think it was definitely the uterus stretching out. Definitely get in touch with your consultant if you're worried, but I think there is really a lot of movement around the 16-19w mark.

icy121 · 13/10/2016 20:55

Huge scanxiety ahead of tomorrow (7w). Haven't felt this terrified since the week before FET (once blasto was in felt much less 😰)

Feeling sick (but not nauseous so that's a worry too).

Sorry for me me me

stealthbanana · 13/10/2016 21:46

Don't worry icy. We've all been reduced to gibbering wrecks at the viability (ugh) scan. I cried after mine as I was so overwrought by the time I got to the scan itself. Glittery shit & good thoughts your way for tomorrow. Just accept the next 24hrs are going to be utterly pants. What time is your scan?

OP posts:
Blue2014 · 13/10/2016 22:07

Icy I didn't get sickness really til 8 weeks good luck with it.

Sammy I second it being stretch pains I had them for ages!

Blue2014 · 13/10/2016 22:08

Ps ... We need a new thread soon Smile

lotsoffreckles · 13/10/2016 22:08

Sammy I'm 6 days behind you and have the same cramp type pains. I'm also really constipated at the minute so I have upped my fibre and frank prune juice by the gallon and it's helped a lot, trying to be calm about it all but it's such a worry ah Confused

Icy I was exactly the same before viability scan, all here to hand hold xx

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 14/10/2016 05:54

Sammy I also have on and off cramping, which seems to be worse in the morning. Sometimes I find it's erm, related to gas issues Blush but other times it's just pain. I hope you are feeling better.

Good luck today Icy. The nerves are definitely normal - I went in like a zombie and couldn't even crack a smile. My doctor was full of the joys of spring and I was lying there like a misery.

Lucie I'm so pleased that the scan went well. Hurrah!

Friends How is the spotting? I'm glad that the MW wasn't too concerned though as that's reassuring.

MPP good luck for next week. It really drags doesn't it, waiting for the scans.

Great news about the tests Stealth though I am in shock about the size of your baby!! Time to start doing those kegel exercises!

Blondes congratulations on the scan and what lovely pictures! Happy to read that all is going well.

Welcome Mist, and hello to everyone. It's Friday afternoon for me - roll on the weekend.

loopylou1984 · 14/10/2016 06:55

Icy good luck today, and as the others have said, scanxiety is totally normal.

Thank you everyone for the reassurances, I'm sure it must be bowel related as things have def slowed down. It's just scary as this is how I feel prior to AF too.

We called the midwife triage in the end who basically said rest up and see how it goes. If it didn't get worse then not to worry.

Still have the pains this morning, so I'm going to see how today is and call them back if needed. I don't want to waste anyone's time, but equally if My babies are in trouble I need to do everything I can.

Anyone made a new thread? X
