We've got through a whole thread! Hope it's ok that I took the liberty of starting a new one.

Newbies, if you've had fertility treatment and found that it actually worked, this is the thread for you! We're a supportive group of women battling everything from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding, and we generally can't believe this is really happening for us!

First thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2584015-Pregnancy-after-infertility

I had stretchy pains up to about 18 weeks sammy

lucieloos · 02/10/2016 19:48

Hey Sammy, I've heard a lot of people say it's normal to get round ligament pain around the stage that you are at which is where everything is stretching so I wouldn't worry too much. Yes time goes so slowly. It's a difficult one though as I'm so worried about the scan I kind of don't want it to be here yet. I wish they could knock me out and wake me up when it's all over!

Smurfy1981 · 02/10/2016 20:47

I am now 22 wks- and still get the round ligament pain- mainly of i turn too quickly in bed- or if i sneeze and im stretched out- its awful x

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 02/10/2016 23:37

I get stretchy type pain too Sammy, and we have our next scan next Monday as well! Scanxiety is also kicking in - I actually don't look at the screen until my Doctor starts talking 'normally' as such.

Good luck on Wednesday Grumple.

Welcome Friends and Block. I'm sorry that things are extra stressful for you both at the moment, and hope you get good news very soon.

HP I hope things have progressed! I can't wait to hear of BabyHP's arrival - good luck.

loopylou1984 · 03/10/2016 06:42

Smurfy - oh my god yes, sneezing is so bad! I have to make sure I quickly curl up if I a sneeze comes while I'm in bed!

Thanks all, feel a bit happier now.

Genghis - how far along will you be on Monday?

Lucie - I know what you mean. Right now you are pregnant and you don't want the scan to tell you otherwise. Everything crossed for you!

Borisisback · 03/10/2016 07:18

Oh yes to the sneezing and moving in bed pains... . They've both gone now (can't remember when they stopped) but sneezing problems have been replaced with The Fear that my pelvic floor won't hold on to my bladder content. The joy.

Thinking if you HP

lucieloos · 03/10/2016 09:10

Ohhh just thrown up in the toilet in work Confused Been feeling really nauseous the last couple of days. Are there any hints or tips to get through this??

stealthbanana · 03/10/2016 09:39

Horribly stretchy pains - I had them through to now. I was a late bump bloomer though, think they're definitely connected to all your muscles stretching out. And yy to sneezing - ouch!

lucie hugs. As per above - croissants! (boris, it's so weird isn't it - I can normally take or leave pastries but they just hit the spot.) And if it's really bad then get thee to your doctor and get some anti nausea meds. They are safe and there is no point suffering needlessly.

grumpel - hurrah! Roll on 20w scan. It must be comforting at least having lots of movement.

hp thinking of you and hoping for some news soon!

On phone so can't scroll back but hoping everyone is enjoying this beautiful autumnal morning.

lucieloos · 03/10/2016 09:55

Oh god just the thought of a croissant makes me feel worse! Confused What are the sickness meds called? I have some that the hospital gave me when I had treatment for the ectopic. Do they stop the nausea as well or just actual sickness?

stealthbanana · 03/10/2016 09:59

There are a few types lucie. I am on metaclopramide, cyclizine is another popular one. You just have to find one that works for you. I find that metaclopramide will sort of abate the nausea to a lower level but won't take it away totally. Others have different experiences.

(And I just vomited now, so solidarity! 👊🏻)

Do try to eat something if you can. Even a plain cracker or some biscuits. Being hungry actually makes it worse. And Try to keep sipping on fluid even if you can't eat. I find fizzy water a lot easier to stomach than flat when feeling Vomitous (boris - perhaps the salt?!)

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 03/10/2016 10:32

Hp. Hope all is well - waits for news of baby

Lucie. Agree get anti sickness drugs - I'm on cyclizine and Def helps tho am still sick. Was am or retchng but seems to swapped to evenings and lose dinner every bloody night :(

Sneezing. Agree hurts. I usually hold tummy if sneeze and that helps

Borisisback · 03/10/2016 10:40

Lucie have you tried ginger biscuits? Very dry and the ginger has its own natural benefit.

lucieloos · 03/10/2016 10:47

Stealth, it's the cyclizine that I have in the house so I will see how things go and try one of those if I need it. I feel quite a bit better since vomiting this morning and have managed some cereal and sipping on water now.

Boris, I haven't tried ginger biscuits yet but the thought of those doesn't seem too bad so I think I might stock up just incase.

MPP81 · 03/10/2016 11:59

Hello all!

oooh, Smurfy sorry to hear you haven't been well, but pleased to hear you're feeling better.

Jenbot I am also amazed at how much my bmi has increased post-ivf. Its really scary! Hoping that some is bloat/progesterone, though I have the constant hunger too and am trying to control what I eat and walk a bit more than usual. No experience of steriods though.

HP I hope you are doing ok!! So excited for you!!

Lucie Not long to wait now til your scan, but I imagine time seems to have stopped, as that's what it seems like for me. My scan is two weeks tomorrow. I cant imagine how nervous you feel after last time, but I have everything crossed for you. Sorry to hear you've not had a great morning! Hope you're feeling better, but glad you have the medicine just in case!

Sammy Fifteen weeks already! Thats fab! Hope you're feeling ok :-)

Grumpel good luck with your scan wednesday!!

No news here, just waiting for my 12 week scan. I seem to be a bit less tired than I have been the last few days, and I'm both pleased and scared to be coming off the progesterone in the next 10 days. Hope everyone else is ok.

friends123 · 03/10/2016 12:16

Thanks ladies.
I've been signed off from the epau so hoping that's a good sign. I've booked a private scan for Saturday to make sure things are going okay,I will be 8 weeks then. I'm just trying to stay positive that there was a good, strong heartbeat but I have no pregnancy symptoms at all.

Good luck with all the upcoming scans.

Block I hope things go well today at your scan.

lucieloos · 03/10/2016 12:17

I've given up and gone home. I have a migraine now with blurred vision etc

MPP, ohh not too much longer for your 12 weeks scan then. Did you decide against an extra one at 10 weeks?

MPP81 · 03/10/2016 12:39

Friends That sounds like good news to me. I dont blame you for wanting the reassurance of a scan though. Fingers crossed for Saturday!

Lucie Yes, I decided against the 10 week scan. I still dont know if I've done the right thing by not having one, but my thoughts were that having a scan wont change any outcome and we could do with not spending the extra money when there's only two weeks to wait now anyway. I still wish I was having one though :-/ Eugghh, sorry to hear about the migraine. Glad you've gone home and hope you feel a bit better soon!

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/10/2016 12:43

Jenbot. Ditto. Have put in 3st + during 7lots of ivf drugs. 5 cycles and 2 dummy runs for era

Gingins worked for me in early weeks. Chewy gingery sweets. Ate for a a month or so

Tho weirdly enoigh I can't stand them now

Have unopened box at home. Happy to send them to you if you want. Message me with your address 😃

loopylou1984 · 03/10/2016 18:08

Boris - I'm already having issues in that department.... Sneezing standing up is a worry if I need a wee!

Lucie - you poor thing, I second stealth on the anti nausea. I didn't really have sickness only nausea, and I was prescribed metoclopramide. They do mainly get rid of it, it's only if I'm really hungry or in stop start traffic that I feel awful again.
Sorry about your migraine too.

In a weird way it makes me feel better that the painful sneezing isn't just me! Not that if wish it on anyone else really though.

MPP I was terrified of stopping the progesterone, but so happy not to be on it now!!

Friends - keeping everything crossed for Saturday for you.

I'm a bit sad this evening as I've realised one of the names we had picked out is now a no go. It would give our child the initials WC which I'm sure would result in teasing at school. I just can't do it to my baby :(.

HP07 · 04/10/2016 06:00

Hello ladies. I had a little boy on Monday morning weighing 7lb 11Oz. I am currently breast feeding him in the hospital. The induction went OK and the labour was, well, hard, I won't lie. He is wonderful though and we're so happy. I am shattered beyond belief. Hoping to get some sleep after this feed. Xx

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 04/10/2016 06:17

Congratulations HP - what wonderful news! I'm glad everything went well, and you're both happy and healthy. Congratulations again...and I hope you get some sleep soon. Flowers
