We've got through a whole thread! Hope it's ok that I took the liberty of starting a new one.

Newbies, if you've had fertility treatment and found that it actually worked, this is the thread for you! We're a supportive group of women battling everything from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding, and we generally can't believe this is really happening for us!

First thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2584015-Pregnancy-after-infertility

I'm just 8 weeks today freckles. I had an scan at 6 weeks because of spoting. They saw an area of separation just below the sac, so I'm having a private scan tomorrow to see if everything's okay.

friends123 · 07/10/2016 11:50

I had really bad symptoms at 6 weeks but now nothing apart from being extremely bloated so I'm getting a bit worried. X

lucieloos · 07/10/2016 11:56

Thanks Ghengis, I'm haven't been feeling too bad the last couple of days. I feel slightly queasy today but it's manageable so I'm just going to see how things go. Good luck with your scan on Monday and you too Sammy.

Welcome freckles, I am fairly new here too but it's great to have a thread like this. I think I'm the earliest so far only 7 weeks today.

Friends, good luck with your scan tomorrow. I know exactly how you feel I am very nervous for mine.

I was wondering how everyone managed their first scan nerves? I have 4 days to go until my very first scan. On my last bfp I went to the scan and there was nothing there although I did have a lot of bleeding prior to the scan so I knew something wasn't right but I've read so many stories of mmcs I'm just really worried that we will go and there will be no heartbeat or something. I think I'm going to be a nervous wreck on the day.

lotsoffreckles · 07/10/2016 11:58

Firstly (((hugs))) it's bloody hard ah!

My symptoms really came and went, horrific boobs then fine within a week etc. I was really sick the first few weeks after finding out but since about 7 weeks Ive had the odd day but nothing like Blondes and Milk. My main thing has been tiredness but I think that's partly down to a 2hr commute each way to work, 5:15 alarm... ouch!

Everything crossed for the scan tomorrow and hopefully you're little bean is just being nice to their Mummy xx

Blue2014 · 07/10/2016 11:59

Welcome freckles Smile

Lucie I don't think there is a much you can do but accept that you'll be a wreck. I tried to block it out but I just think it's part of the process for us x

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/10/2016 12:09

It's hard waiting for the scan but amazing when see the heard and sac

Tho must be awful if see nothing 💐

Grumpelstiltskin · 07/10/2016 12:31

Welcome freckles! Nice to see the thread population increasing.

Good luck genghis and Lucie. Christ, the scan build up is so hard. No good advice, other than we all get it. Personally I dealt with it by pretending the very early stages just weren't happening- head down, busy at work, try not to think about it, la la la. Basically, some good old fashioned denial. Confused

Thinking about you especially friends, so so hope it's good news.

stealthbanana · 07/10/2016 16:10

Welcome freckles! Pleased to have you here

friend good luck for your scan tomorrow

lucie I don't think you can avoid being a nervous wreck. I was so overwrought by the time I had my first scan at 7+3 that I started bawling as soon as it was over (luckily the doctor had left me to get dressed so was by myself). It was just pure adrenaline stress relief crying.

Currently sitting in the waiting room of the doctors office having just necked my lucozade for the glucose tolerance test. Really hoping I pass and don't have GD as about 50% of my diet seems to be pastries and cake at the moment

to everyone else - am on phone so apologies for lack of personals

Hope everyone has some fun weekend plans!

Hi Blue, Grumple and Stealth.

I have my Glucose test next week, my little bro is type 1 diabetic since 10 so Im super high risk of GD apparently....

Vixxfacee · 07/10/2016 17:15

Hey stealth. I had my gtt yesterday. How comes you are having yours?
I am worried about it to I've been eating so much sweet things! Helps the nausea.

stealthbanana · 07/10/2016 19:40

vixx it just seems to be part of the standard private second trimester screening - which I have finally managed to actually go and do on the last day on my second trimester probably should have done it weeks ago. Presumably I'll have to do third tri bloods in about the next 5 mins! Am guessing that I would have a GD screen even if I was NHS because of having pcos. I was on metformin until 12 weeks anyway so am not fussed if I have to go back on it - but having to cut out the sugar would be a bit of a blow, given what a large % of my diet it is atm! Fingers crossed we all pass with flying colours.

OP posts:
Vixxfacee · 07/10/2016 20:15

I can't believe you will be 28 weeks tomorrow!
Does the sugar help with your sickness too?
Fingers crossed all is well, when do you get your results?

stealthbanana · 07/10/2016 21:43

I know! Time is flying.

If anything is majorly wrong my consultant will ring me asap. Otherwise I assume I'll get the results on Tuesday when I have my next scan + consultant appointment. They are pretty quick I think.

OP posts:
Vixxfacee · 07/10/2016 21:53

Time does feel like it is going quickly!

How often are you having scans? I'm going to book a 4d one when I turn 28 weeks.

stealthbanana · 07/10/2016 21:56

Every 4 weeks. It's because I'm hypermobile + I had a low PAPP A blood test in first tri - they need to check baby is growing & also check my cervix isn't shortening. So far so good!

We have had 4d at every scan - the sonographer just flips a switch and there it is. I have a couple of amazing pics of his little face, it's unbelievable! Definitely worth doing.

OP posts:
Vixxfacee · 07/10/2016 23:08

It must be so nice to see him every 4 weeks Smile
What does he look like. Great that you get 4d at every scan! I can't wait for mine. Think it will feel more real then.

stealthbanana · 08/10/2016 08:03

It's pretty cool! And yes the 4d makes it lots more real. He looks like a divine little baby. You can start to see our features in him - he looks very much like my husband in terms of his bone structure at this stage. Obv we haven't see him with his eyes open so that will be a surprise. But he is recognisably ours. I think we've been really lucky with the 4d to get good pictures - some of my friends definitely have more of the "melting wax candle" type pictures.
You will love it!

lucieloos · 08/10/2016 11:24

I know this is a silly question but I haven't had a bath since before transfer as they say not to for a couple of weeks after transfer and then I just haven't liked to since and have been making do with showers. I do love a bath on the weekend though and was wondering if it's ok to resume as normal? I think I will wait until after the scan on Wednesday but is it ok to have baths now??

loopylou1984 · 08/10/2016 15:34

As long as you don't have it too hot you're fine Lucie. I was worried too and actually asked the clinic. Xx

lotsoffreckles · 08/10/2016 16:07

As long as the water is warm and not too hot

lotsoffreckles · 08/10/2016 16:08

Sorry posted before I finished....

And you're carful with bubble bath, I've just bought a Simple one for a nice soak tonight pre Strictly Smile

lucieloos · 08/10/2016 17:28

Thanks both think I'm going to see how my scan goes and then I might treat myself to a lukewarm one next weekend if everything is looking ok. I have the simple bubble bath at the ready!

friends123 · 08/10/2016 17:43

Hi all.
So baby is doing well. Smile.Heartbeat was measured at 178bpm and measured 1 day ahead. She could see the subchorionic haemorrhage but tried to resure me that it was small. Apparently I have an extremely retroverted uterus, which hasn't been mentioned to me before.
For today at least I feel a huge sense of relief. Thank you all for support and kind words they really mean a lot.
Lucie, good luck for Wednesday, I will be thinking of you. Hope everyone else is doing okay?

Smurfy1981 · 08/10/2016 19:47
