We've got through a whole thread! Hope it's ok that I took the liberty of starting a new one.

Newbies, if you've had fertility treatment and found that it actually worked, this is the thread for you! We're a supportive group of women battling everything from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding, and we generally can't believe this is really happening for us!

First thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2584015-Pregnancy-after-infertility

Huge congrats to Mrschris. Lovely news.

Anyone know if early scans are the norm following IVF? I'm 5+4 and my fertility specialist is on leave. The nurse mentioned a seven week scan, but I don't have anything booked in. I guess I'll call his rooms and ask the Secretary. He must have someone covering.

Blueroses99 · 12/07/2016 07:53

Hi zenzie, yes I think a scan around 6-7wks is usual after IVF, sometimes called a 'viability scan', horrible name. I had mine at 7+2 but the clinic would normally have had it the week before, but we ran into Easter and there was no availability. If you go on too early, there's a chance that it's too soon to hear a heartbeat, which is incredibly thrilling and reassuring so 7wks seems about right. Get yourself booked in, definitely. Good luck xx

MrsChrisPratt · 12/07/2016 08:39

Thanks for the congrats guys Grin

zenzie I have a scan booked for when I'm 7+3, they scheduled it when I called up with results of hpt. Definitely follow up,I'm sure it will put your mind at rest to see everything on screen.

stealthbanana · 12/07/2016 11:47

mrschris so pleased to see you here! Fabulous news.

zenzie yes 7weeks is a normal time for an early scan and you will definitely see something.

Scan tomorrow for me - gulp. Only a week since I last saw the little one, surely he'll be ok? And hopefully we'll get DH's cystic fibrosis results back too. Yikes!

Hi stealth glad you're doing well and good luck for the scan tomorrow!

I've just measured my waist and I've increased 10 inches in 3-4 days Shock what the jeff???? Spoke to my consultant this morning who said to get in touch if things get worse and I'll have to go into hospital Hmm

HP07 · 12/07/2016 12:10

Hey MrsChris, it's probably bloating, don't worry too much it will probably go down, before it goes back up with bumpage! :)

Zenzie · 12/07/2016 12:12

Thanks everyone! I have a (hugely inconvenient) appointment with my specialist on Monday week, when I'll be 7+3, so hopefully that's fine. I think he does the scan himself.

MrsChrisPratt · 12/07/2016 12:20

Thanks hp07, it's definitely not baby at this point that's for sure! Consultant has confirmed it's late onset ohss, so it's humongous ovaries and free fluid in my abdomen. Been advised it's caused by the hcg aggravating my already excited system post ivf- the joy!

HP07 · 12/07/2016 12:36

Goodness yes, so you will have a double whammy of ordinary pregnancy bloating and the OHSS which I'd not heard of before.

Good luck for today stealth. Hope the results are promising. :)

I'm on my final count, 5 shift left until maternity leave! :)

Blueroses99 · 12/07/2016 18:16

Hope the bloating / fluid calms down soon mrschris.

How exciting for you HP. Is there still a possibility of going in for a c section or has the placenta moved out of the way?

Stealth how did it go today?

HP07 · 12/07/2016 18:38

Blueroses it has moved! :) I had a growth scan at 28 weeks and it had moved enough for a vaginal delivery. I also have another scan booked for 34 weeks which was supposed to be tge placental localisation but they told me just to keep it anyway as it would be good to check that the baby is on track. :)

Smurfy1981 · 12/07/2016 19:57

Hi ladies, I didn't think I had heard anything for a while!! So pleased I have found u all again!! Glad to hear everyone's good news. I will be 10 weeks tmoro, had my booking in appointment with mid wife last week, just waiting for my scan appointment coming through, I am loaded with the cold and feeling as sick as a dog too!!

Blueroses99 · 12/07/2016 20:24

Good news HP!

Hi smurfy, poor you, no fun at all being pregnant and sick. Hope you're getting plenty of honey and lemon, and rest.

I've started taking it more easy and I can feel baby movement when I'm sitting or lying down! It's a lovely feeling 😊

MrsChrisPratt · 13/07/2016 10:30

Good luck today stealth hope all goes well.

I've been hospitalised overnight with ohss, having iv fluids and anti sickness meds and just waiting for blood results to see what the verdict is Hmm add long as I stay pregnant I don't care!

HopefulKate1980 · 13/07/2016 18:42

How did it go stealth? X

HopefulKate1980 · 13/07/2016 19:02

And sorry mrspratt sending you lots of thoughts. How are you feeling?? What did the bloods say? X

HopefulKate1980 · 13/07/2016 19:17

Can I tell you all a revealing story?

This morning I did a CB digital test. I'm 6w1 and my last blood results were 754 so I expected to get a 3+ but I got a 2-3. Panic!!!
I have read you need over 2000 to get 3+ So I was worried they weren't rising...

Luckily I was scheduled in for some more bloods and I got my results back and guess what... they are over 5000!!! Just shows you the CB tests are misleading and cause panic for no reason!!! Finally it has sunk in!

How is everyone?

Vixxfacee · 13/07/2016 19:21

Glad to see you here Mrs Chris!

Kate so happy for you.

stealthbanana · 13/07/2016 20:42

Thanks all. All good. A jumping wriggling baby boy. Sucking his thumb and in full lotus position - he's definitely going to be a yogi based on his pre natal poses! A little fatty too - his abdomen was 93rd percentile. I didn't see the doctor after as he had to go to the hospital suddenly, but we'll speak by phone - I wouldn't be surprised if they want me to take a gestational diabetes test early as large abdominal circumference is one of the flags for GD.

mrschris sorry you're feeling so rough. Rest up & take care of yourself - ohss is no joke.

kate that is fabulous news re your beta levels. Congratulations!

blueroses awwwww for feeling movements. Lucky you!

hp hurrah for the placenta moving! That is fantastic.

I love reading everyones news x

Blueroses99 · 13/07/2016 22:31

That's lovely stealth 😀 Hope you get some reassurance from your doctor. I didn't know there was a link between abdominal circumference and GD though. I'm at risk for GD and due to be tested in a few weeks.

So thrilled for you Kate!

MrsChris hope the OHSS is getting under control. Is the hospital looking after you well?

Smurfy1981 · 14/07/2016 04:16

Does anybody else wake up at silly oclock in the morning??? Its driving me insane!!

HopefulKate1980 · 14/07/2016 06:51

Thanks so so much everyone. Such gorgeous news on here. Long let it continue!! Xx

MrsChrisPratt · 14/07/2016 07:17

Morning all,

Great news stealth so pleased for you Flowers

Thanks for the welcome vixx, I recognise your name and so glad you're here too.

Kate great numbers - how far along are you? Thanks for the warning, I have a cb digi with weeks indicator which I was gonna save and use but week hold off now to save myself the heartache.

I was discharged from hospital late last night and told to rest in no uncertain terms or I'll ends up back there. My waist circumference peaked (I hope!) at 40 inches yesterday! I actually am advert some advice if possible -

I do not for in any of my normal clothes anymore (especially work clothes) but am loathe to spend on maternity this early - its seems silly and over dramatic and I'll be gutted if things go wrong. Can I use a bump band and leave my trousers undone? How do they work?

And now the more difficult one. I'm only in my second week at my new job (was made redundant from previous) so am in my probation period. New boss seems very very nice but obviously not ideal to have a chunk of time off sick so early - I'm conflicted as to whether I should explain the real situation ie. I'm pg after 3+ years trying and 4 lots of IVF...Sorry it's not convenient but it wasn't a choice I made, would never have voluntarily changed job in this situation etc etc I'm at pains to reveal early before I've had a chance to prove myself/in case things go wrong, but revealing would give myself more protection....or my Dr has written a note saying I have complications from a gynaecological procedure so I don't need to tell them.. Wwyd?

MrsChrisPratt · 14/07/2016 07:18

Oh and smurf, yup, I'm waking up super early too Angry
