Hi Girls

We found out on Good Friday that we're expecting our first child and we won't be telling our parents for a few weeks so for now I thought it was worth starting a thread so I've got a place to get excited about all things baby with people due at a similar time - without chewing DH's ear off about it constantly. Bless him he's excited too but I seem to want to talk about nothing else right now which is hard seeing as we're the only ones that know our little secret!

My EDD is 2nd December according to the NHS website which makes me 4+5, and I've got my first doctors appointment this Friday. I understand they won't really do or say a lot but think they'll refer me to the midwife? Or do I do that myself?? Anyway, I'm excited!!!

Hope everyone's feeling good and upbeat, looking forward to some due date buddies to chat to Smile

I saw my gp 2 weeks ago and still not heard anything from the midwife. When did you all see the midwife? I'm only 6+3, don't want to nag the Drs but I'm eager to see them

Rugby01 · 22/04/2016 11:32

Saw mine at 8+0 so sounds like it will be ok, vb.

gumdropss · 22/04/2016 11:58

Hi vb, I had a call from my midwife last week to book an appointment for today when I am 8 + 4.

Vb87 · 22/04/2016 13:33

Thanks guys, guess I'll leave them to contact me!

bumbleclat · 22/04/2016 19:05

I had to reschedule first midwife appt too Hellebelle because of school stuff.
It was supposed to be on 5th May now its on 3rd June- does anyone thing that's too late for my first appointment?
(Ill be 11 weeks by then)

bumbleclat · 22/04/2016 19:05

think

Minispringroll · 22/04/2016 19:56

Can I join you? Due date is 12th December.
We've been to EPU this week and seen little one's heartbeat. Measured 5+4, so about 4 days behind. Got another scan booked for when I'll be 10 weeks, although they've put me down as 9+ weeks by then.
Have called GP and they've booked me an appointment with the midwive. Apparently, they don't want to see anyone before 10 weeks. Did speak to the midwife at the EPU, though.

Have just started a new job with a rather difficult class...good distraction, if anything. Grin

LittleHeart2014 · 22/04/2016 20:19

Hello everyone Smile hope you won't mind me joining. I'm expecting baby no 2 and my EDD is 17 Dec. DD is 18 months.

Symptoms haven't been too bad. Mostly tired and a little dizzy so trying to eat well and drink lots of water when really all I want is a giant box of chocolates. Cravings have started and I want sharp lemonade drinks, like really bitter, which I had with my first.

Getting a reassurance scan on Sunday so thought I'd check in as things seem to be progressing well. Hope to have good news about our healthy baby in a couple of days x

FluffyPickleMonster · 22/04/2016 21:42

Hey everyone, it's Friday, hurrah!! I'm as tired as a badger! I'm 5+6 today and the nausea is really setting in, fine in the mornings but sets in about 4pm all through the evening. I'm so unbelievably full of wind, from both ends! Sorry tmi but I'm hoping you're all windypoopers too!
I called and booked a private viability scan for when I'm 8+1, mainly for reassurance and not wanting to waiting until 12weeks. Midwife appt booked in for when I'm 7+2.

littleheart looking forward to hearing your good news, I'm one day behind you and have EDD of 18th Dec!

bumble I don't think it's too late as long as they can get you in for a scan quite quickly. Everywhere works differently it seems. I've known friends to have scans anywhere between 10 and 14 weeks.

minispringroll yay for seeing your little ones heartbeat! How exciting!!

Rugby01 · 23/04/2016 10:46

minispringroll - are you a teacher too? Quite a few of us on here. Very exciting you've seen a heartbeat! I still can't believe there's a person growing inside me- so I bet the scan helps.

littleheart - good luck with the early scan. Glad everything going well.

bumble - I agree with fluffy - 11weeks will be fine for your booking in as long as scan is still on track. At my booking in it was lots of forms to fill in and advice about food, exercise, etc most of which I already knew. So it hasn't changed what I'm doing very much!

Let's hope the next 4 -6 weeks go quickly for everyone!

LittleHeart2014 · 23/04/2016 14:04

Bumble I'm seeing midwife at 10+6, though they aim for 8 if they can, and scan is 11+6. Two of our local midwives have retired so they're having a tough time squeezing us all in here x

Minispringroll · 23/04/2016 16:43

Rugby Have been a teacher for about 10 years now. Smile Have just moved schools, from Year 6 to Year 4. DH is a teacher, too.
I cried when she said it's where it's meant to be and that there's a heartbeat. Think it was real for DH at that point. We lost the previous two before we even reached 7 weeks, so he doesn't tend to get his hopes up.
I've told SLT, because it might explain why I leave quite early in the afternoons. (I get really queasy in the afternoon and evening. I'm also tired constantly. Not just being lazy...) Taking work home with me, though. Grin

Most people seem to see their midwife quite early on. Does it depend on the area?

Helbelle75 · 23/04/2016 17:08

Hello fellow teachers!
My midwife appt in Thurs at exactly 8 weeks. My first scanning 23rd May and I'll be 11+4. Apparently my scan window is 23rd May to 3rd June when I rang the hospital to rearrange (go on a school trip on the 24th...)
I'm in Lincolnshire.

Rugby01 · 23/04/2016 18:00

helbelle- very exciting to have your scan date! Quite a wide window isn't it? I am excited to see when mine will be.

minispring- I'm sorry for your losses before and very excited for you now. I bet it was amazing to see it together with your DH.
I feel the same as you - tired and queasy from around 4pm. Maybe we're just holding it together for class and then our bodies say, 'Right. Enough'. I'm not telling SLT til the scan has shown all ok but I am certainly having a lot of 'bad back' moments when realising I shouldn't lift a lot of things. Really difficult to remember at times!

lovewatchingrainfall · 24/04/2016 16:47

Hi all. Hope you don't mind me joining. My EDD is the 19th December I currently have DD who is 3.

Had a bit of a hard time already with this pregnancy feel like crying at times. Had an early scan on Friday and everything was in place however they noticed my body had released another egg which is in my right tube. Just have to wait and see what happens with it.

Little. How did you get on with your scan.

Hope everyone is okay.

Rugby01 · 24/04/2016 19:25

lovewatching - hi and congratulations on your pregnancy. Does it cause problems if another egg is released? I looked it up and some sites said it could get fertilised... I hope you're ok anyway.

What have been your problems earlier on? Hope things are getting easier. I'm certainly with you on the emotional side of things. Can't wait for the second trimester which is supposed to be amazing. Anyone confirm this? 🙂

OurGrowingFamily · 24/04/2016 19:43

Hi everyone:) I'm a couple of weeks with baby number #2! I'm not sure when I'm due yet as I've not had my scan, but I estimate mid-late December. :)

RD82 · 24/04/2016 20:54

Hope everyone's doing ok, I come back & have a quick check on this thread every couple of days.

I'm 6+2, nausea & tiredness really kicked in this week, yikes! No actual sick yet (sorry) just feeling mega queasy & weak from lunchtime onwards to early evening. No energy whatsoever, I have been such a slug. Very specific ideas of what I want to eat too, marmite on toast is currently top of the list.. I'm off work for a couple of weeks and have been having lovely 2 hours naps most afternoons then sleeping 8-9 hours at night no problem.

lovewatchingrainfall · 24/04/2016 20:59

Hi Rugby thank you for your message. I have had a lot of cramping and strong pains but due to previous I am at risk.
They couldn't tell me what would happen they think it could lead to bleeding, MC or as you say another fertilised egg which would cause more problems! I didn't know this could happen. Currently meant to be in bed rest due to pain but with a toddler in tow this is not happening.

Hope your okay.

Rugby01 · 25/04/2016 06:32

lovewatching - I hope things look more certain soon - keep us posted. It sounds very hard to follow those instructions when you have a toddler. How frustrating. Thinking of you and hoping that you can get to rest whenever you can.

RD - marmite! Glad you've had some time off to sleep and rest.

Hope everyone else ok is ok? Any scans or news?

lisacatjohnson · 25/04/2016 13:10

After reading the thread, I'd really like to get an early pregnancy scan but not sure if I should just hold off for 12 weeks. Currently 7 + 3 and feeling incredibly anxious - this is my first. I've posted earlier on the thread saying that I don't have any symptoms which is still the case, other than feeling quite tired. This is making me worry more so not sure I should go for an early scan for peace of mind or if I will just continue to worry regardless!

I keep waiting to "feel" pregnant but it's not happened as yet :(

Rugby01 · 25/04/2016 18:27

Hi lisacat - I know how you feel! I don't have many symptoms either - just tired and a bit nauseous but that's picking up now in week 9. I presume we don't worry unless something we KNOW is worrying, happens! The waiting is unbearable isn't it! Good luck and congratulations.

LittleHeart2014 · 25/04/2016 21:51

Evening all Smile so at 6+1 we had our first scan yesterday. It gave me a lot of comfort to see a heartbeat and I don't feel quite as anxious knowing everything is progressing well. In fact I nodded off very quickly last night! Usually Googling Blush

Here's our little "dot" x

December due date buddies!
Rugby01 · 26/04/2016 17:52

Hi all. So I got my first letter from the NHS today with what seems to be the first appointment (it says it may include a scan) which will be in week 16!!! I thought you had to have a scan around 12-13 weeks. Also, I need to tell work and can't wait til 16 weeks! Omg. Has anyone else had a similar time to wait? Unless there's another letter in the post with an earlier date, I am really worried. Obviously it's now going to be really hard to call them up as there's nowhere private (let alone any time) to call at school during office hours. Now really stressed and it's only week 9!!

bumbleclat · 26/04/2016 17:57

Sorry it's so late that's not very good is it? My dr said that the stage we're at is very time sensitive and she urged me to rebook an earlier appointment so maybe you could protest a bit?
I am so worried about telling work I work in an (NQT) position across 3 year groups the school has invested so much energy and time into my training and development.
I just can't decide When to tell work is it rude not to tell them straight away?
Wisdom needed!
