Hi Girls

We found out on Good Friday that we're expecting our first child and we won't be telling our parents for a few weeks so for now I thought it was worth starting a thread so I've got a place to get excited about all things baby with people due at a similar time - without chewing DH's ear off about it constantly. Bless him he's excited too but I seem to want to talk about nothing else right now which is hard seeing as we're the only ones that know our little secret!

My EDD is 2nd December according to the NHS website which makes me 4+5, and I've got my first doctors appointment this Friday. I understand they won't really do or say a lot but think they'll refer me to the midwife? Or do I do that myself?? Anyway, I'm excited!!!

Hope everyone's feeling good and upbeat, looking forward to some due date buddies to chat to Smile

How exciting lisacatjohnson!

Kajlo · 19/04/2016 11:51

bumbleclat - GP says good to stay on the pre-conception pills until they run out. They'll have the right amount of follic acid in them anyway.

Just back from my GP appointment now, pat on the back - congratulations, and refered to a midwife as expected. Hopefully that appointment will come soon. Bad news is, I was also told not to take any hayfever relief for the first 3 months.... noooooooo! Hello Hayfever Season.

And I came home to the cat feasting on a bird on the dining room floor, and now puking it all up in my office.... midday sickness over here everyone. Probably not pregnancy related. Kitty, I so dont need this..

Helbelle75 · 19/04/2016 11:55

Congratulations lisacatjohnson. I'm 6+5 today and am tired, have sore boobs and a bit of bloating. That's all. I'm a worrier too - I think it's very natural! I've got a couple of books that I'm poring through at the moment!

cnchapmanxx · 19/04/2016 12:20

bumbleclat · 19/04/2016 18:39

Kajlo Thanks I'm so confused because the NHS website says take 400 mg of folic acid per day and 10 mg of vitamin D but my 7 Seas Trying for a Baby tablet only has 5 mg of vitamin D.
I was also told by my Dr a few months ago that my calcium therefore my vitamin d was low so now Im not sure.
Another trip to the Drs I think..

Rugby01 · 19/04/2016 19:43

Hi all. How did your meeting at work go, hellebell? (Sorry I meant meeting this morning, not booking in). Hope it was helpful telling them.

I'm worried about the number of hours I'm doing at work and the carrying of stuff... Really hope I haven't done any damage. Early night tonight. Soooo tired. Maybe I ought to tell someone at work....

Told our mums at the weekend! So exciting!

I'm only taking the prenatal supplements. Didn't know I should be taking the others too?! Another thing to worry about....

Anyway. Hope you all had good days. Roll on our midwife appointments, eh? Anyone had theirs yet?

cnchapmanxx · 19/04/2016 20:00

I had a horrible day at work today was so emotional started crying in the toilet thinking I'm that early that I could suffer a chemical i was a wreck. Had to sit in a room for an hour to calm down. Feel like such an idiot please someone tell me it's not just me worrying! Il be 4+5 today but I'm stressing out over anything! 🙁 Xxxxx

JillyCooper2015 · 19/04/2016 20:07

Oh ditto CN - have I washed my hands thoroughly enough, is this cramp normal, how MASSIVE are my boobs already, will my varicose vein get worse, is the stress from work + money going to affect the little one etc etc

Horrible. Can't wait til I have a scan and see her / him with a healthy heartbeat...

Registered with the doctors today and picked a hospital to have her in which felt properly mad.

Royal Free in Hampstead which I think (although don't really know) is supposed to be good.

JillyCooper2015 · 19/04/2016 20:13

Has anyone signed up for their NCT yet?

I've registered interest for one in Muswell Hill if there are any other North London mama's to be :)

Kajlo · 19/04/2016 20:36

bumbleclat - ah, in that case I would just swap pills for some with more Vitamin D (I'm on Vitabiotics Pregnacare), or have more oily fish and eggs (well cooked thru). And speak to your Dr about it if not sure. I think there are cereals too that have added Vitamin D to them.

I chose Milton Keynes Hospital today - in case anyone here is in the area? Interestingly Which? compares labour wards and after answering a few questions, MK came up on top for me.

Helbelle75 · 19/04/2016 21:37

I'm seeing my line manager tomorrow rugby. Fingers crossed!

Constantly worried I'm doing the wrong thing. Felt awake enough to go to ballet tonight, but hope I haven't overheated!

Helbelle75 · 19/04/2016 22:12

And I can't tell if the pains I'm getting are cramping or wind! Aaargh! Just want some reassurance that baby bean's pk, but I guess I'll have to wait it out.

FluffyPickleMonster · 19/04/2016 23:28

Hey ladies, I'm finally sat down for the first time since I left home at 6am this morning, had day from hell! Just catching up on all today's messages.

We've decided we will def get a private viability scan at 8 weeks and am going to book it tomorrow. At least I'll know what's going on in there.

I'm taking the pregnacare vitamins and extra omega 3 supplements. I am also eating spinach, avocados, broccoli, berries etc everyday, I love them so that bit's easy.

Have been very snappy and emotional today, quite worried about how bad the cramps were when I was driving home, got very stroppy in traffic on the M42 and let the idiots cutting in to the queue know about it! Do not mess with an emotionally charged pregnant woman who needs to pee!

How bad are your cramps ladies? Mine are getting so much worse. Feels like worse period pain I've ever had. I'm 5+3, when should they settle down?

Hopefully a better day tomorrow! Night all.

Rugby01 · 20/04/2016 07:16

Hello. hellbelle - I know what you mean!! It's hard to tell and I keep worrying too. From now on I'm not lifting anything heavy as I'm paranoid about it now. My excuse to everyone will be bad back! I hate not being able to tell people as it just makes me look lazy.... Hopefully my colleagues will forgive me in the long run.

I haven't chosen a hospital yet - is that something the midwife talks to you about?

jilly - I have been wondering about NCT too - I am reluctant to pay until the 12 week mark but hear they got booked up! Have you signed up yet?

fluffy - I am with you on the moodiness! Haha. Hope today is a better day for you.

Helbelle75 · 20/04/2016 09:42

Just told my line manager and she was really pleased, so that's a relief. We're not telling anyone else until the 12 / 13 week mark, but I felt I had to explain my tiredness and moodiness with my classes! It's a lot easier to deal with now I know I'm pregnant - before the Easter hols I thought I was dying!

JillyCooper2015 · 20/04/2016 10:03

They didn't ask me for any money yet - just to register my interest, so will do that - I guess all new mums must feel the same about it.

I'm going to wait as long as possible to tell work, I was promoted in January, lots of staff have left and they have very few senior bods with any experience so will be having a melty-melt down if they knew I was up the duff !

Rugby01 · 20/04/2016 14:35

Well done hellbelle - a milestone passed! I am glad they were supportive and pleased.

i had to go to bed last at 9pm as I was so tired....

Spending today worrying about every little symptom again. Looking forward to some reassurance at the midwife appointment tomorrow....

How's everyone else doing?

lisacatjohnson · 20/04/2016 14:55

The last few days I've suddenly developed sever allergies - has anyone else experienced this? Is it pregnancy related? I'm 6+5..driving me and everyone in work crazy! Still don't have other symptoms like sore boobs, sickness etc Hmm

AKP79 · 20/04/2016 15:56

Hi ladies - just joining onto the thread. I'm due 2nd Dec, it'll be my second baby, but first with my husband. Had a long drawn out missed miscarriage over Christmas which was very traumatic and my previous pregnancy and birth with DS (who is now 4) was very unpleasant with my ex leaving me when DS was only 3 months.

So, all in all I am very anxious about pregnancy and more so since the miscarriage at Christmas.

Trying to remain positive about this one though, so thought I'd join the group.

bumbleclat · 20/04/2016 17:26

He he Helbelle I too thought I was dying now the symptoms all make sense!
I am Ridiculously tired- just about to see my therapist and feel like I'm just going to blather on about a load of nonsense.
I feel slightly queasy but not too bad mainly just tired.
How do you start the sentence when you tell your boss/manager?
I'm worried I'll be asked intrusive questions like was it planned or how many weeks are you' How do I avoid this?
Welcome AKP79 I do hope you have a much better experience this time sorry last time was so difficult :(

Helbelle75 · 20/04/2016 20:19

It depends what your boss is like. My boss is lovely and I knew she was worried about me as I've cried on her shoulder a couple oof times, quite stressed. I just started with - there's a reason I've been so emotional and tired. And she guessed! I don't think they have any right to ask if it was planned.

Rugby01 · 20/04/2016 20:25

akp79 welcome and so sorry to hear of your loss and difficulties. I hope you are feeling in a better place now.

lisacat no allergies for me but I am completely off my hot drinks which is unusual for me. No tea (even decaf) as it makes me feel queasy.

I seem to have some light brown discharge today - anyone else had this at around end of week 8 /start of week 9? Am seeing midwife tomorrow so I guess I'll ask her.... I hate all this worrying! It's stopping me concentrating at work! Loads of work to do tonight and i can't focus...Confused

Hira87 · 21/04/2016 23:10

Hi. Has anyone seen the midwife yet or received a scan date?

Helbelle75 · 21/04/2016 23:25

I'm seeing the midwife next week, and got my scan date through this morning. Unfortunately it's for the week when I'm on a school trip so will have to reareange.

Rugby01 · 22/04/2016 06:35

Hi. I had my midwife appointment yesterday. Now waiting for scan date. Oh hellbelle - I sympathise with clashing dates. I do the same job as you!
