Hi Girls

We found out on Good Friday that we're expecting our first child and we won't be telling our parents for a few weeks so for now I thought it was worth starting a thread so I've got a place to get excited about all things baby with people due at a similar time - without chewing DH's ear off about it constantly. Bless him he's excited too but I seem to want to talk about nothing else right now which is hard seeing as we're the only ones that know our little secret!

My EDD is 2nd December according to the NHS website which makes me 4+5, and I've got my first doctors appointment this Friday. I understand they won't really do or say a lot but think they'll refer me to the midwife? Or do I do that myself?? Anyway, I'm excited!!!

Hope everyone's feeling good and upbeat, looking forward to some due date buddies to chat to Smile

Lovewatching and mini spring roll. I had my booking appointment today. I went by myself and glad that I did as was really no need for hubby to be there. Mine took about 50 minutes and a lot of it was just the midwife entering information that is already filled out. Providing you have no health problems would imagine you'd be done within an hour. She also took bloods and urine sample

Vb87, pleased to hear that. Heartburn is horrid though. I had a bout if that and reflux after vomiting yesterday and it was awful.

Helbelle, that's great you got your scan, my scan is the same date! When is your EDD? Mine is 3rd Dec.

Lovewatching, they seem to take forever with questioning. My husband came to one last year (that we subsequently lost) but won't come to this one as it went on forever and was pointless from his perspective.

berkshiregirl2016 · 03/05/2016 20:10

Minispring, I've already had three scans and have another one this Thursday. The EPU doesn't do the nuchal scan (at least not in my borough) so I was told to get my booking-in done as normal and arrange my nuchal, which is actually at another hospital.

Has anyone else had skin changes? I noticed a red sort of liver spot appear below my left eye yesterday.

Vb87 · 04/05/2016 18:31

Told my boss at work today and I was so nervous for some reason, like she'd be angry haha but she was fine. I got asked if I was pregnant too by a colleague, one of the women I work with mentioned that her boobs had grown because she had put weight on and then another said "Vikkie your boobs are huge, your not pregnant are you haha" I just laughed and blamed weight gain!

Rugby01 · 04/05/2016 21:48

vb well done for telling your boss. Another milestone! I am sooo fat and bloated today, I honestly don't think they'll be surprised when I tell them in early June.... But I just don't think I could take all the questions if the scan showed anything unusual. I'm 40 so I guess I have had all the doubts sewn into my mind by now.... Though I know the odds are still in my favour!

hellebelle - glad you got your scan date changed.

twoshoe, lovewatching and minispring - booking in is such a lot of paperwork isn't it! And a load of ads and offers from companies.... Not sure mine needed to take an hour!

How is everyone feeling? No skin changes for me. Just feeling really fat! Not sure it's actual baby though....

bumbleclat · 04/05/2016 22:46

Hello all Its such a relief telling your boss isn't it- mine's been very supportive :)
I slept for 14 hours yesterday after a day teaching and it really knocked the nausea out. Still didn't manage to eat tea but much better than I have been.
My MW appointment was so long!
Because my mum had preeclampsia I will have to have consultant led care and not have a home birth but I do t really mind.
Anyone in the Northampton area?
I don't know what Hispital to choose.

lovewatchingrainfall · 05/05/2016 06:58

Nausea is still driving me mad. Been up for an hour and now back in bed for a little while. Keep getting pains across pelvic bone. Hope this is normal, will check next week.

Hope everyone else is okay. Looking forward to some sunshine.

Vb87 · 05/05/2016 07:39

I get nausea all through the day, I'm literally living off toast, sandwiches and strawberries!! These are all I can stomach. I'm a teacher too and finding being on my feet all day so exhausting. I'm 8+1 today and still not heard from the midwife or got a scan date. I'm supposed to be being seen by my obs consultant due to previous cervical treatments and not heard from him either...my Drs said I'm being processed. Think I'm just desperate to see our little raspberry. Have any of you seen your midwives yet?

Rugby01 · 05/05/2016 08:23

vb- I saw my midwife at 8+0 but not seen anyone since. And my scan is not til 13+5. It is frustrating not to have anything in the diary, and probably worrying if you have had previous problems. I hope that you hear something soon. I am sure every local NHS trust works at their own pace. I am also struggling with the long day teaching - looking forward to study leave starting for the students!

berkshiregirl2016 · 05/05/2016 09:38

Rugby that's quite late, are they just booked up to see you at 12? It's frustrating when you're so anxious to know all is ok.

Had a scan this morning, 4th so far, measuring 9+3 and we saw an arm move! It was just the most incredible thing. Hoping we all have successful 12 week scans and can start telling people soon.

I went back to work on Tuesday but left at lunch time as was so sick. Am now under strict instructions to work max 6 hrs from home for the time being.

Anyone else from Berkshire or London?

Vb87 I think I'll try strawberries. Quavers and ribena help me at the moment!

Helbelle75 · 05/05/2016 11:28

Morning everyone. I've cried at work the last two days. Just so exhausted and the little darlings are really trying my patience at the moment.
Still no real sickness here - vague nausea in the evening, but nothing too bad.
I have nights where I sleep ok, and nights when I'm up at 2/3. I've been to ballet class the last 2 evenings and not woken up until 6am, so I'm taking exercise as a good sign. There was a lady at class last night who's 5 months pregnant, and I was dying to ask her loads of questions! Can't wait for our scan so we can start telling people.
I had my midwife apt at 8 weeks and my scan will be at 11+4 vb. Hope you hear something soon.

Rugby01 · 05/05/2016 15:37

Interesting what you are saying about exercise helbelle - I will have to try it. Was thinking of swimming now the exam classes are off on leave. I lost it today with a student and ended up in tears. So tired and so emotional. I'm not usually like this! Argh.

Helbelle75 · 05/05/2016 18:01

I know rugby. My classes are unsettled because I'm not my usual lively self and I'm a bit grumpy. Vicious circle.
I'm assured by friends that after 12 weeks it gets a lot better. Well, for a while anyway!

44PumpLane · 05/05/2016 20:09

Hey all- I'm 7 weeks today, got my booking in appointment next Weds at 7+6. I've been told it'll take about 90 mins and I have to try and find family medical histories for both sides of the family before I go.....yeah coz that's easy!

I've been getting nauseous up till about 4pm, I have to have a slice of dry toast first thing in the morning and sip water. Also I'm crashing at about 9.15pm then waking at 5.30 for a wee then back to bed for another hour- I'm sleeping for England!!!!

In the grand scheme of things I don't appear to be suffering too badly but the nausea is awful and I feel so bad for women who suffer worse with it!! You all have my sympathy.

No idea when my scan will be- I'm also DESPERATE to tell someone, I have 2 friends who are currently pregnant, one due end icy, one due end Aug, I'm due 22nd Dec but I am trying to hold off telling anyone just in case!

Minispringroll · 05/05/2016 21:02

Helbelle and Rugby, I've got the same problem with my class. They are incredibly unsettled and very difficult this week. I feel like I'm constantly nagging them at the moment. Sad Angry Sad They are a very challenging class at the best of times, but me not being on top form and constantly incredibly tired is really not helping.
So glad it's Friday tomorrow. Still got two weeks to go until booking appointment and next scan. Really hoping everything will still be ok. (I'd like to simply enjoy the pregnancy, but I'm on edge and expecting the worst all the time...)

My nausea seems to be subsiding, though. (Still not thrown up...but then I only ever throw up with food poisoning, usually. I don't get hangovers, either.) On the other hand, my boobs are really itchy...Hmm, I burst into tears about weird things (Labour election broadcast! Seriously...) and I'm hungry all the time.
Anybody else get some weird pulling sensations down below? Feels like growing pains in my groin area and thighs...

Rugby01 · 05/05/2016 21:29

I hope your friend is right!! 😕

Rugby01 · 05/05/2016 21:29

And the worst thing is not being able to tell colleagues. They all think I'm having a nervous breakdown or something!

44PumpLane · 05/05/2016 21:30

Mini I felt like I had almost pulled my groin on the left yesterday and I was a bit worried that the feeling might get worse and stay with me but it's disappeared today- weird!

44PumpLane · 05/05/2016 21:33

Rugby agree it's awful not being able to tell anyone- a colleague is handing in their notice tomorrow and I'm really pleased for them, they asked if I would consider coming too but I can't really say "no, I'm in a 2 month notice period and you need 6 months service for enhanced mat benefits" so I had to tell them "you go first then let me know if I should move"..... I just wanted to tell her

bumbleclat · 05/05/2016 21:35

:) I can identify with the teachers, mine aren't being difficult, I have just become a lot more strict so every tiny bit of low level disruption Im keeping on top of poor little things. Im trying to be aware of it and soften up a bit.
I was Sooo tired at the staff meeting tonight and my skin looked all grey Im sure my colleagues must suspect!

44PumpLane · 05/05/2016 22:27

Ok I have to ask- has anyone sneezed and felt an absolutely searing pain in their groin? It was fairly temporary but it was front left, about 2 inches up from the crease of my thigh, 2 inches right of my hip bone! Ouch! That's new!

bumbleclat · 05/05/2016 23:03

yes I have, it's weird isn't it?!

44PumpLane · 06/05/2016 06:33

bumble to be honest I'm just pleased it's not just me!!!! So thank you for replying :)

Youngoldmum · 06/05/2016 06:54

Hey all. I'm 8+1 today with baby 2, feel very sick all day and tired! Just wondering if anyone else already has a bump? I'm a small size 10, but my tummy has a very distinct bump shape to it, and no trousers fit! I definitely didn't show this early with number one! Shock

Vb87 · 06/05/2016 08:22

Happy Friday everyone, how's everyone feeling this morning? I woken up with sausage fingers and had to take my wedding ring off Sad
Youngoldmum I'm 8+2 with baby #2 and I definitely have a bump! All my jeans are uncomfortable on my waist so I'm off to get some maternity jeans this weekend.
