I'm 39+6 today. Started getting texts and calls asking where baby is etc. no sign of baby. Feeling pretty ragey. First was 9 days late. This one is comfy. Is anyone else also feeling like they'll be pregnant FOREVER?

Hey brioche, yay! I'm not alone anymore! :-) I've had pessary in now for 5 hours and starting to have a few light tightenings and back pain now. Everyone on my ward has gone to delivery (two have had pessary in over 24 hours and one had it in as same time as me and just went into full on contractions!) how are you getting on? X

BriocheBriocheBrioche · 03/11/2015 16:25

Not much happening here. The pessary came out after two hours with a gush of waters so had to have two more hours of being strapped to the monitor.

Have had a few contractions but nothing super painful. Being moved to a bedroom now thankfully where I can relax a bit, move around and hopefully eat! I've not had anything since 7am!

Any progress your end?

Ladypug · 03/11/2015 17:26

Nothing here, bit of pain but turned out it was trapped wind! Lol midwife told me most people need the drip, the pessary alone isn't enough to kick start labour most of the time

CishAndFips · 03/11/2015 18:53

Hope things are progressing for you lady and brioche. Thinking of you both.

Ladypug · 03/11/2015 19:02

Got bad period pain now, tummy and back but it's not contractions so I'm feeling a bit scared about what real contractions will feel like! This is hard enough!

Starspread · 03/11/2015 19:05

Good luck to everyone so far! I'm now 40+2, and already beginning to go a bit stir-crazy - aching, grumpy, tired and tearful, but still not in labour. Sweep booked in for a couple of days away. Anyone got any tips for holding off the Overdue Mega Grouch?

Ladypug · 03/11/2015 19:41

Hey star, no advice, just sympathy!

sophiaslullaby · 03/11/2015 20:04

Hey Lady, hang in there - keep remembering you're on the journey to meet your baby, pain is a by-product so try and relax and breathe. Do you have a TV there to put a film on?

Hi Starspread, you're only a few days behind me, fully sympathise. I was in tears to mum earlier as tomorrow I'll have been off work for 3 weeks, going spare now - what else can I do? She gave some good advice - have SOMETHING to do each day, even as small or mundane as hoovering the stairs, walking to the shop for milk or ironing that pile of washing so that when you wake up you know you have something to do as opposed to a blank day stretching out ahead of you. And then just take one day at a time.
So tomorrow - don't get jealous now - I'm cleaning my oven. Admittedly it's not going to make me leap out of bed! And I'm still grouchy, but I'm not 'down'.

Starspread · 03/11/2015 20:37

Ah yes, projects! My mum's latest (and I think she might be onto something) is start a project that absolutely definitely HAS to be finished before the baby gets here - whether creative or practical! Sadly DP and I have already done a clear out of the cupboards, rearranged the loft, pre-washed and sorted all the baby stuff, etc etc... I'm now starting to think about reorganising the kitchen or starting a novel. Perfectly reasonable behaviour.

Give me a couple of days and I might start thinking about cleaning the oven, too...

I'm much cheerier today than I have been for the last couple of days; I think I've let go of the expectation that the baby would come on or at least near the due date, and am starting to settle in for the longer haul. Well, either that or the choc chip cookies I baked have cheered me up. I'd offer you all one if I could!

Lemonfizzypop · 03/11/2015 20:42

Well I'm booked for induction tomorrow eve! My cervix is still closed so unless a miracle happens in the next 24 hours induction it is!
I'm actually ok with it now, it's not how I hoped things would go but I've made my peace with the situation and am very excited to know that no matter what happens I'll be meeting my baby very soon!

Ah ladypug glad things are happening though!
Hope things progress for you soon Brioche!

I don't have much advice either starspread but I definitely know how you feel! It's so hard to know we have little control over when we will go into labour, but yeah just try and keep busy and distracted!

sophiaslullaby · 03/11/2015 21:45

Sounds like the cookies have taken effect Starspread - that's the one thing I haven't been keen to do, baking. I'm ok at it but just have no desire, probably because they advise against licking the bowl - no fun!
But I understand what your feelings - i've only a week until possible induction - after 3 weeks of magical pottering (what have i done with my time?!) a week is not long at all - looking at the calander i can now see dates within reach when I'll be holding baby and that's lovely.

Aww Lemon, sorry to hear you're still closed up, but great that you've come to terms with induction. I guess it's like I've just said, you've had all this time to wait so now impatience and excitement start to overrule any nerves of induction - baby by weekend...? Grin

Ladypug · 03/11/2015 22:07

Hey lemon, good that you're booked in and can see an end in sight! Nothing happening here again, ward is dead and I'm alone, all pain seems to have stopped. Going to try to get some rest before the inevitable tomorrow (starting to brick it a little bit - not about the pain but just about the unknown and fear of losing the plot mentally) hopefully I will god it together and focus on the end goal!

CishAndFips · 04/11/2015 07:12

Hi lady thinking of you today. You've done so well and your so so close now lots of Flowers and unmumsnetty hugs for you.

BriocheBriocheBrioche · 04/11/2015 08:56

How are you doing Lady?

I managed to sleep a couple of hours but then had some stronger contractions... They were getting strong and regular but my cervix is still unfavourable so I'm on the drip, hooked up to a millions machines and have had the epidural as I can't move through the contractions. Only a little dose for the moment though so it hasn't changed much!

sophiaslullaby · 04/11/2015 09:10

Lady and Brioche - thinking of you both. Hope you got some rest last night and managing to hold it together (Lady hold in there, you won't loose the plot, you're doing really well).

ollieplimsoles · 04/11/2015 11:14

Ive graduated from the club ladies! Baby girl arrived 6 days ago, she's called Penelope. We were kept in hospital due to her low birth weight (5lbs at 9 days over due) but home now.

Some interesting developments here, so excited for the girls been induced, I was induced with a dissolvable pill on the Wednesday night, just go with it, the baby arrives before you know it!

BriocheBriocheBrioche · 04/11/2015 12:42

Congrats Ollie!

Graduated with a baby girl!

My pessary did nothing yesterday and my overnight contractions only got me to 1.5 cms so I got hooked up to the drip at around 8.30, got the epidural too as I was hooked up to so many machines I couldn't move at all during the contractions and she arrived at 10:59!

She wee'd and poo'd on me straight away, fed for two hours and now she is sleeping! I might join her!

We should set up a graduated to see ourselves through these first few weeks!

BriocheBriocheBrioche · 04/11/2015 12:45

Thinking of you Lady

CishAndFips · 04/11/2015 12:55

Congratulations brioche. That's a great idea but get some rest now you have certainly earnt it.

ollieplimsoles · 04/11/2015 13:08

Congratulations Brioche! My little girl poo'd on me straight away as well Shock

Hope you are ok ladypug, thinking of you! Xxx

Lemonfizzypop · 04/11/2015 14:00

Ah congratulations to you both Brioche and Ollie! You're making me impatient to get to the other side which is a good thing I think! Going in to be induced tonight and raring to go now, these past few weeks have just felt soooo long, I know you all know the feeling.

Looking forward to hearing back from ladypug, I assume she's busy graduating right now!

Hope you're enjoying your new arrivals and recovering well.

sophiaslullaby · 04/11/2015 16:30

Yay!! Congratulations Brioche and Ollie! :-D

Penelope is a really cute name Ollie :-)

I guess Ladypug is graduating too, aww all these babies! Lemon I wondered if you'd been induced yet. I haven't a date for mine but imagine it'll be this time next week (I'll be 13 days over week today so fingers crossed, pain and all, baby will be on his way - like you I've had enough and just thinking 'bring it on' now). Good luck to you and keep us posted.

Ladypug · 05/11/2015 21:38

Woo hoo! Hi all I did it! It wasn't very pretty - 15 hour labour with lots of complications that ended with emergency c section but I'm alive and have a gorgeous baby girl! Congrats brioche! Ps the waiting around and the labour pain all go away when you hold your baby for the first time!

Ladypug · 05/11/2015 21:40

Hey Sophia, I was indeed graduating at the exact time you wrote that message! Pps congrats Ollie!

CishAndFips · 06/11/2015 06:52
