I'm 39+6 today. Started getting texts and calls asking where baby is etc. no sign of baby. Feeling pretty ragey. First was 9 days late. This one is comfy. Is anyone else also feeling like they'll be pregnant FOREVER?

Yeah Redditch! I'm from Stratford!
Will you go to Worcester or Warwick now?

I have an appointment for my due date for fetal monitoring and then they will see me 2 days after then 2 days after that and then induce.
Hoping it doesn't get to that, I'm
Hoping for a 'natural' birth which is quite rare here (luckily my hospital has a special room for non medicalised births) as its a lot more medical uses but I won't be allowed if I'm induced. It'll be constant monitoring on my back on bed - bring on the epidural!
My first arrived bang on 40 weeks but this baby doesn't seem to showing many signs of wanting out!

sophiaslullaby · 02/11/2015 08:28

That's it, I'm trying not to read all the news and upset as it's not going to help me. Am annoued but got to move on for sake of getting baby out. I'll go Warwick as at least we know the route and other parts of the hospital (just not how to get into the maternity unit - quickest way will be breaking my waters all over reception!!) and I think Worcs is going to be really pushed...

So you're going to be induced before 42 weeks? Can you not ask for them to wait, you may still go naturally but closer to 42 weeks and then no need for epidural pain relief (and get to use the special room! Grin )
I'm constantly ball sitting/bouncing but all it's giving me is sore thighs! Need to be relaxing and completely chilling out as have sweep tomorrow - half considered having a glass of wine (im not a drinker)!

CishAndFips · 02/11/2015 17:27

Just popping back to see how your all getting on. Good luck with the sweep tomorrow Sophia. WhAt date is your induction Lady?

sophiaslullaby · 02/11/2015 17:55

Thank you Cish - I'm currently googling acupressure points to help, my day revolves around natural induction techniques now!
How are you and your little girl getting on? Hope all is well :-)

Ladypug · 02/11/2015 18:22

Thanks cish, induction is tomorrow!

CishAndFips · 02/11/2015 18:34

Thank you Sophia were all fine DS is over the moon although tiringly over excited thank goodness it's back to school tomorrow.
Ooh good luck tomorrow lady I will be thinking of you

Lemonfizzypop · 02/11/2015 18:34

Good luck with your induction ladypug!
And hope all is well with your little girl cish!

Sophia I have a sweep tomorrow too, I imagine my induction will be booked for Friday aswell in case it's as unsuccessful as my last one. Confused

Ladypug · 02/11/2015 18:37

Thanks guys!

sophiaslullaby · 02/11/2015 18:41

Ooo busy Tuesday all round then, good luck Ladypug, I know you're anxious but try and put all thoughts out your head now - just go with it, relax & breath, it's a massive step to meeting your baby - by the weekend you'll be snuggle up with baby!!

Lemon -is this your 2nd sweep? Lots of luck, I'm planning a walk with a friend after mine (just round the block, nowhere too far) and will book another for next week if it doesn't work before considering induction.

Lemonfizzypop · 02/11/2015 18:45

Yeah i had an unsuccessful sweep with an "unfavourable cervix" last Tuesday. I'll be 40+10 tomorrow so running out of time really! Haven't had any signs or twinges that there's been any progress but you never know!

Ladypug · 02/11/2015 19:00

I had two bad sweeps and today had my third. Also unsuccessful but points for effort! It wasn't pretty and she could nearly reach it but not quite! Fingers crossed induction is better. I'm nervous not knowing what will happen when and if I will get any results or end up with a c section but hopefully it goes well and baby doesn't need too much encouragement! Good luck everyone with sweeps, I will be checking how you all got on from my hospital bed!

sophiaslullaby · 02/11/2015 20:21

Oh yes, the 'unfavourable cervix' - spoke to my mum yesterday (she used to be a midwife so go through all labour, birth, babies etc. with her) and I used that terminology! Asked what would happen next if my cervix was unfavourable, she giggled, asking where I heard it described as that, I said a midwife used it apparently!!
Never know Lemon, 10 days over is good length of time for the body to finally be ready with a gently push of another sweep.

Lady - keep us in check too with how you're doing. Spoke to my sister earlier who reminded me of her induction, she did go for an epidural in the end (has very low pain threshold), epidural took hold and she feel asleep - woke couple hours later and my niece's head was crowning, pushed her out with no trouble and all well & happy - see, no c-section.

babyconverse · 02/11/2015 21:02

Good luck for the induction ladypug - I was in the club earlier so been keeping an eye. Fingers crossed and there's some really positive stories on here which I'm sure you've read already but fingers crossed for you. You'll get to meet your baby so soon now and that's the main thing Smile

Ladypug · 02/11/2015 21:51

Love this story Sophia, makes it sound much more achievable than it is in my head! Terrified of hospitals, needles and the like and not great with pain either so I'm nervous... But ready to meet baby!

Ladypug · 02/11/2015 21:52

Thank you converse, very true! Positive stories have really helped and if I can get through this anyone can so I will be back to share my story too as I'm a real wuss!

CishAndFips · 03/11/2015 07:41

Just popping on to wish lady lots of luck for today. I'm the biggest whimp in the world and I did it twice. You will be great just think of all those squishy newborn snuggles you will have later Flowers

Ladypug · 03/11/2015 08:13

Thanks Cish! Eeeek! X

BriocheBriocheBrioche · 03/11/2015 08:58

Morning all.

Good luck for all the sweeps etc today.

I'm in hospital as my waters have gone although my cervix is still posterior and barely open :( as I have tested positive for step b I don't think they'll let me long without an induction.

I'll be thinking of you ladypug.

Iamnotloobrushphobic · 03/11/2015 09:07

Good luck lady and brioche. Hope you are soon home snuggled up with your tiny bundles.

Ladypug · 03/11/2015 12:18

Thanks loobrush! Good luck brioche, we're in it together! I'm so excited but v nervous. Had the pessary now and apparently have to have it in for 24 hours before I can go to delivery so going to be here forevvvver!

sophiaslullaby · 03/11/2015 12:57

Hello,
Aww good luck Brioche, has it been long since your waters went? Hopefully things will move quickly and your cervix will change before any induction is needed. All moral support will be given from here and it'll be ok.

Seems to be a day for unfavourable (Lemon - it's the best word to describe it!!) cervix's - just had my attempt 1st sweep, cervix is 1cm but long and posterior. Still midwife 'agitated' the membranes as wasn't able to do a full sweep. Didn't hurt at all but few period-type pains coming and going, nothing more. Bit of an anti-climax, not sure what I was expecting - her to shove her hand up there and pull baby out?! I'm just so ready to meet him and fed up of aching.
My induction will be end of next week otherwise...

Ladypug - will the hospital not let you go home or go out for lunch as you've had the pessary?

BriocheBriocheBrioche · 03/11/2015 13:42

Ladypug - we can hold hands through it! I had the pessary a couple of hours ago and am strapped to the bed being monitored. Should be able to get up and move about soon though.
They said 24hrs to me too... Hope it kicks of before then!
Like you on feeling excited but slightly anxious too... Trying to keep in my hypno birthing mindset but it's not helping much!

Sophia, I was half hoping for her to say 'wow you are already 3 cms' when I had my sweep!!! Ha! Keep active and keep us updated!

Lemonfizzypop · 03/11/2015 13:47

Ooo this is all getting very exciting! Good luck brioche and ladypug! You're so close now!

Ah at least the midwife managed to "agitate" (the words they use eh?!) your cervix Sophia, my sweep is later on and will be booked in for my induction then too I'd imagine. In so hoping there's been something going on up there!

sophiaslullaby · 03/11/2015 15:07

I kept as active as possible - had a long walk, then home to hoover and clean oven. Just woken from an hours kip though (only lay down 'just for a second'). Birthing ball has given me a sore groin, at least take it it's the ball and not anything else?

Good luck having your unfavourable cervix agitated Lemon Grin I'm sure things have changed since last time so hope you come out feeling positive.

Ladypug · 03/11/2015 15:23

Hi Sophia, ah yes that sounds like my first sweep experience. By the third it was much more intense and slightly better results too. It's good when they agitate it, things start to happen a bit afterwards. Not allowed to leave the hospital but have been for a few walks around the premises!
