Continuing the thread for ladies who are pregnant after MC

Argh not feeling much movement the moment. Amazing how little it takes to start panicking a bit. Going to give it until lunchtime before I truly start worrying. Got too much to do at work today..

northdownmummy · 23/09/2015 12:55

Back from the consultant and she's confirmed that the growth rate has dropped from 95th percentile to 50th. Everything looks good and placenta seems to be functioning well. Back next week for another scan and need to keep a close watch on movements. The worry goes on

OP posts:
Mummyofonesofar · 23/09/2015 13:12

north how was your scan?

need I hope you can put off the visit until 2nd tri, I am sure she will understand once she knows you are pg again. If you feel detached then I would say go for a scan, I know it is hard to enjoy but today you are pregnant. Oh and congratulations!

islander we saw HBs at 6.5 week scan and had another private one at 8weeks but that was only because we were going on holiday, if you can try to hold out I would say but if you aren’t sleeping properly then go for it.

Mrsd I hope you get some more wiggles today to reassure you but always ring the mw if you are unsure.

My scan went perfect, I was moved on 5 days so now 12+4 with two healthy babies. I have another scan next week to do the nuchal screening as my hospital can’t do it for twins. Hopefully I will also find out if they are fraternal or identical which then dictates my consultant care and how often I need to be at the hospital!

Mummyofonesofar · 23/09/2015 13:13

Sorry north crossed posts! sorry about the growth drop but hopefully it will stay at 50th now. Good luck for your scan next week.

fruitlovingmonkey · 23/09/2015 14:33

North it's good that everything looks fine. Not long to go now and couple of extra scans has to be a good thing.
Mummy that's fantastic. Have you now told all of your friends and family about the twins?
Welcome Need and congratulations. I'd put off the IL until after your 12 week scan. I'm sure everything will be fine but you don't need something else to worry about. I can't imagine how horrible it would be to have your mil there whilst MC Flowers
I have my first scan tomorrow. I thought it would get easier as it approached but I've been an emotional wreck the last few days. I'm dreading it in case it's bad news.

Mummyofonesofar · 23/09/2015 14:38

Fruit I was a wreck before mine, didn't sleep the night before, threw up beforehand, I think it is normal! I had about a weeks worth of anxiety building up. Good luck for you scan. I had already told all of the family and alot of friends but DP hadn't told a soul (we told his family) he was so nervous something would go wrong. It has now spread around mine and his organisations and all over facebook and my parents and brother have also announced it as they are so excited!

fruitlovingmonkey · 23/09/2015 16:17

Oh how lovely that they are all so excited for you. It'll be interesting to find out what type they are next week.
Thanks for the support. I have been having infuriating conversations with my bank for the last hour but at least it provided a distraction!

Mummyofonesofar · 23/09/2015 17:43

It will be here before you know it now!

Marchgirl · 23/09/2015 18:03

Hope you had a bit more movement later on diddly. The worry never stops, does it?

Great scan news mummy, how exciting

Good luck for your scan tomorrow fruit, it's totally normal to feel major scanxiety after mc, but I'm keeping everything crossed for you x

mrsdiddlydoo · 23/09/2015 22:14

Yes some more wriggles. Not as much as last week but I'm feeling a little calmer.

Great scan news mummy!

north very glad they are keeping a close eye on you. Keep us updated on the next scan. The worry just doesn't go.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow fruit hope you manage to get some sleep tonight

northdownmummy · 24/09/2015 10:49

Hurrah for wriggles mrs
Mine are keeping me sane

Afternoon ladies, I've just had my 31 week appointment, and the midwife told me my platelets were low and I need to have a repeat test in a month, as this affects the bloods ability to clot and may result in needing a transfusion during birth. Am I right to be absolutely terrified by this ?! Has anyone else ever had this problem ?

northdownmummy · 24/09/2015 14:42

rebecca not the same but I did need some transfusions after my DD was born. Because of that there's a plan in place this time to have canulas in and blood on standby. Hopefully it won't be needed but better to plan for the worst and hope for the best. I imagine it might be similar for you

OP posts:
cloudjumper · 24/09/2015 14:58

Rebecca I don't think that this is something you need to worry about. Platelet counts can vary quite a lot, especially during pregnancy. Are you on any medications, by any chance? For example, heparin can affect this.
It's not very likely that this will affect your birth, and you should not get worried about this. The good thing is that they know about it, so you can be monitored. If they are leaving it for a whole month to be tested again, they can't be that concerned.

Good luck for your scan fruit

north Sorry that you have an extra worry! But they are keeping an eye on you, which is good! I thought that growth plateaus eventually, does it not? Maybe yours started earlier than expected?

mrsD The worry never stops, does it? Wondering at what point I need to start the 'serious' monitoring? I never did it with DS, and I can't see how I can use one of those count-the-kicks apps while I'm at work.

I'm really snowed under this week - DH is away, so I'm having to look after DS by myself, and work is really busy! 26 weeks tomorrow, still struggling with constipation, my upper back is really sore/painful/stiff, and my right hip has started to seize up when I sit still for too long (difficult not to with an office job). But everything else is fine, lots of movements, and DH can feel them now as well Smile

Rebeccaelizabethxo · 24/09/2015 14:59

Yeah the nurse said about having everything prepared, just can't help but find the thought of it all a little daunting, I'm just hoping my levels miraculously sort themselves out ! Like you say it is better to be prepared though ! Never an easy ride hey !

fruitlovingmonkey · 24/09/2015 22:30

Exciting that you're having big movements now cloud.
mrs glad you've got more wriggling going on now.
My scan went well, measuring a couple of days ahead, a strong heartbeat and lots of movement. Dh came with me so it was nice for him to see it wriggling on the screen, he never got to see the last one. I'm feeling much more positive now and trying to focus on the high probability of a healthy pg after seeing the heartbeat.
Rebecca sorry that the worrying continues for you but maybe it won't be a problem by your next check up and in any case it's better for them to think of it in advance.

mrsdiddlydoo · 24/09/2015 22:58

Not had that problem Rebecca but II have had a blood transfusion before and although daunting, I needed it and felt much better afterwards.

cloud I didn't monitor kicks with DS either and my placenta was at the front so I just accepted everything must be OK so long as I felt something everyday. So easily paranoid this time around. Sorry you're suffering a bit. Dh is just out for the night tonight. Not sure how I'd cope if he was away for more than a night. Confused bathtime is enough to drive me completely insane never mind getting DS into bed. We're well over half way now!

Well done for getting through the scan fruit and great news! The odds are in your favour so try to stay positive. Smile

mrsdiddlydoo · 24/09/2015 23:19

It's probably a bonkers idea but I might attempt to update the stats which I don't think have been done since ... Page 29 of thread 5 but correct me if I'm wrong

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2399304-Plenty-of-chocolate-and-support-all-round-5-posifrickintive-thread-for-those-pregnant-after-miscarriage?pg=29&order=

Won't be until I can get on a PC at the weekend. If you want to be added let me know.

And bythesea just realised you're only a couple of weeks away from due date now... Wow!!

commander hope things are going OK for you

Marchgirl · 25/09/2015 09:12

Great news on the scan fruit! Glad your dh was there to see too

Well done on taking up the stats challenge mrsd! I have to admit to being 38 now Hmm. I was wondering about an open Google sheet to keep the stats on, that we could all update ourselves and could be pasted across to the thread regularly.

Nousername2015 · 25/09/2015 09:19

Hi everyone, its been ages since I posted but I have been keeping up. The whole 'keep calm and carry on' logic just hasn't been working lately.

Welcome need and anyone else I've missed, and congratulations on successful scans to those who have had them.

mrsd Unfortunately there has been a couple of stats updates that we lost as envious changed her name after the whole hacking thing. Before that the latest ones would be the one I posted on the last thread. I'll pm you about a couple of things. Thanks for offering, unfortunately I never log into mn from a computer anymore after all the recent goings on.

mrsdiddlydoo · 25/09/2015 12:56

Oooo open Google sheet march! Now that would make sense so ladies can update themselves. Not sure I'm that clever but will have a look.

Thanks nouser brave or mad! I think it's the more distractions in my life right now the better.

Looks like I finish for mat leave on 13th Nov. Confused scary or what (to someone in denial that this is happening)

Nousername2015 · 25/09/2015 13:03

I think a Google sheet is a great idea!

Marchgirl · 25/09/2015 15:42

If we're doing the Google sheet then prob wise to open a gmail account for us, so nobody has to be outed with their own personal account, then you can make a sheet with the current stats and change the settings so it's open. I think it's under link sharing, and change to anyone with the link can edit, but that's just from memory from the rmc one, so could be wrong!

cloudjumper · 25/09/2015 16:54

mrsD I finish for mat leave on Nov 27! That is only 9n weeks away, and I'm going to be on holiday for 1 week in October as well, eeek!
I had a meeting with my managers today to discuss handover of projects, it's definitely getting real now...

Stats update would be great - we could even start a new list, if everything else fails.
