Is anyone else overdue and feeling fed up waiting for our little ones to arrive? Had a sweep done on sunday morning and was in pain all day, was sure it was the beginning but nope still no sign, being gradually losing my plug since sunday night also.

Am at the hospital now being monitored before they give me pessary... I'm also allowed on MLU if pessary works. Isn't it weird how different trusts have different rules, you'd think it was standard. 40+11 today and I know what you mean about the waiting getting rid of labour nerves. Bring. It. On.

Second sweep didn't work for me. Now in hospital being monitored before they give me pessary. I'm also allowed on MLU if pessary works, isn't it weird how different trusts have different rules, you'd think it would be standard.

Know what you mean about waiting getting rid of labour nerves. Bring. It. On. Wink

Sorry for double post... Phone being crap!

kbro79 · 05/08/2015 13:34

Good luck clstow! Wishing you and safe and smooth delivery.

Bring. it. on. is exactly how I feel!

BotBotticelli · 05/08/2015 17:30

Good luck CLstow....I am now 40+12 and going in to hospital tomorrow for induction.

Given up any hope of it happening naturally tonight now. Gonna have a lovely Chinese takeaway and a nice glass of wine with DH and just think "fuck it"! It will be the last quiet night we have together for a while, might as well enjoy it.

Really hoping that the induction goes well and quickly given that it's my second baby and the first one came spontaneously:-/

wtfih · 05/08/2015 17:51

Hi everyone!

Mind if I join in? 40+1 and had my first sweep today lunch time.
I have an induction booked for next Wednesday so I'm praying something happens until then.

Clstow · 05/08/2015 18:24

Cheers kbro.

Finally been sent home and not feeling anything apart from some mild cramps/contractions... Induction is soo boring.

I think a final night of fun sounds fab Bot - best of luck for tomorrow, definitely keep us updated when you can.

Welcome to the big wait wtfih, are you feeling anything post-sweep?

ScottishSmurfette · 05/08/2015 21:56

Should name change as s I'm no longer waiting. Have my beautiful boy asleep on me after a pretty swift delivery.

Looks like that sweep worked...

ScottishSmurfette · 06/08/2015 03:01

Thanks Scottish. It was all very straightforward in the end. Contractions started around lunchtime, stayed home until 7 until got too painful then headed to hospital. Was able to use the pool but didn't end up staying in it to actually deliver. Our son was born just after 11 Smile

kbro79 · 06/08/2015 09:08

Yay was hoping there would be another baby. Huge Congrats!!! Lovely news.

Botbotticelli good luck with induction and hope you and DH had a nice dinner. If we get to induction think will treat us to the same.

Wtfih welcome!! For your sake hope your not here to long ????

Really thought something was happening for us last night. Fairly strong cramps in back that moved to front of bump. Combined with about 100 toliet trips. But then stopped and nothing since about 3am. These babies like to tease!! The wait goes on......

Clstow · 06/08/2015 09:16

Congrats no-longer-waiting! Sounds like a lovely birth in the end.

I'm back to hospital today for my waters to be broken, hopefully will have some more baby news by tomorrow.

nolongerwaitingfornumber2 · 06/08/2015 10:41

Thanks guys and for the name clstow.

Good luck to you all xx

Luciferbox · 06/08/2015 13:43

Congratulations waiting. I've just had a community midwife out to do a sweep. I'm very favourable apparently so I've been told to try everything tonight and hope for the best.

kbro79 · 06/08/2015 14:14

oh good luck Luciferbox! fingers crossed for you......and of course if anything works let me know what it was! :)

GinInAJamJar · 06/08/2015 14:22

I can vividly remember the sheer misery of being 15 frickin days overdue with my first until they finally put me out of my misery induced me, and then a mere 13 days overdue with my second.

However, with my second I did manage spontaneous labour, and it was all about sitting up just absent-mindedly stroking my nipples. At the time I remember thinking fuck this, I'm awake in the middle of the night anyway so may as well do something and just sat gently stroking while reading a mumsnet classics thread highbrow novel and it all started.

Oh course, it may have just been conicidence I was 13 long days over after all but having overcome my prudishness to share this with some friends they have also had success.

Hope this might help someone

kbro79 · 06/08/2015 14:44

Oh brilliant. Thank you so much for sharing Gin. Totally going to give it a go!

Luciferbox · 06/08/2015 14:55

My friend swears by this Gin. I'm going to try it tonight as it can't help.

blowinahoolie · 06/08/2015 14:57

I have been 40+11 and 40+10 in the past with my first two DC.

I imagine I'll be similar with this third DC....

You have my sympathies OP!

blowinahoolie · 06/08/2015 14:59

Ooh! Congrats!! Flowers to all the new mums! Didn't read the whole thread first Blush

GinInAJamJar · 06/08/2015 18:41

Good luck kbro and lucifer box. Just stroke, no tweaking or milk pumping or anything that requires much effort, and keep going for an hour while your mind is on something else... until hopefully you get distracted by contractions.

33goingon64 · 07/08/2015 08:11

Congratulations nolongerwaiting!

Luciferbox · 07/08/2015 09:05

No movement here. My sweep and best efforts haven't worked. Off for a number of walks today but I think I'm going to wait for nature to kick in. Failing that it will be smoked out with induction on Monday.

nolongerwaitingfornumber2 · 07/08/2015 09:51

Thanks 33!

Lucifer, I think the walking was key for me and definitely got things going. I didn't try Gin's way though but might not have gone 8 days over if I had Wink
