Is anyone else overdue and feeling fed up waiting for our little ones to arrive? Had a sweep done on sunday morning and was in pain all day, was sure it was the beginning but nope still no sign, being gradually losing my plug since sunday night also.

My trust won't do a sweep until 40+7. If I want one I'll have to drive to a neighbouring hospital 30 miles away (my midwife is only part time and will be off) so I'm not going to bother. I had 3 with DC1 and none of them worked for me.

waitingfornumber2 · 03/08/2015 18:45

My midwife gave me a sweep at 40 weeks because I am measuring big but normally it would be 41 weeks.

She also said that they work in about 50% of cases within 48 hours of them being done. Kbro your unscientific sample seems pretty accurate!

Clstow · 03/08/2015 21:15

Yeah my MW said they work 50% of the time but how can they really know if it's the sweep or if the woman would have just gone into labour anyway - bearing in mind they only give them to ladies who are mega pregger Hmm

I've just started losing my plug (sorry if TMI), am really hoping to beat the clock and go into labour before induction at 10am Wednesday.

ScottishSmurfette · 03/08/2015 21:59

My first sweep didnt work but my 2nd did. Had it at 12 on saturday and contractions started at 3pm, gave birth at 7:18am sunday morning Smile

Lil roman is just amazin, not cried once and nothing phases him at all, hes been a wee gem so far.
Im in agony from the stitches and epidural but hopefully me and OH will catch up on our sleep tonight.
Has there been any progress for anyone else yet?? Come on babies Grin

Nothing to report here! Seeing MW tomorrow at 40+11 for one final attempt at a sweep but am pretty resigned to induction on Thursday now.

So happy to hear little Roman is being a lovely calm baby - hope ku manage to catch up on some sleep tonight!

waitingfornumber2 · 03/08/2015 22:42

Boo just typed a long message and lost it!

Glad baby Roman is being so amazing for you so you can recover from the birth.

Hope my second sweep tomorrow works. It isn't until 4 though so planning a long walk at some point.

Had curry for tea and we are dtd tonight. Not the most romantic proposal but something has got to give!

Luciferbox · 04/08/2015 07:53

Been up since 3 with belly aches. Trying not to get too excited as I've had a few night aches but this feels a little more intense. With DS1 this was the start of a 2 day labour. Fingers crossed but I still expect to be induced on Monday.

Clstow · 04/08/2015 08:40

Great to hear Roman is such a dream - hopefully it means all of us waiters will have such good babies Wink

Sounds positive Lucifer - hope things get going for you soon.

And best of luck for all those being swept today - Bot, Waiting and me all having one. Anyone else?

waitingfornumber2 · 04/08/2015 08:43

Ha we can have an Impatients sweepstake! Fingers crossed they get some babies moving.

Good luck Lucifer! Sounds positive.

waitingfornumber2 · 04/08/2015 08:45

I think Kbro might be having a sweep today too. 50/50 chance of it starting labour. Who will be the lucky ones?! Grin

kbro79 · 04/08/2015 08:49

Nothing here either despite the curry and (very unsexy) sex. Sweep this morning.

Good to know they reckon about 50% - I'll take those odds. Fingers crossed for everyone.

Scottish pleased to hear your all doing so well. That's lovely. Xx

kbro79 · 04/08/2015 08:50

Yes I wonder if 50% of us will be lucky. Hopefully we'll buck the trend and all get going!!

Luciferbox · 04/08/2015 09:45

My pains are easing off. Looks like another false start Hmm.

dustyovaries · 04/08/2015 10:40

Congrats Smurffy on your new arrival!! 40+10 today GADS! nothing moving! Given up on trying anything! Induction on Friday :(

33goingon64 · 04/08/2015 14:48

Baby Kit born 5.14 this morning. Just scraped in before induction! 3 hour labour (my second baby!). No pain relief - just didn't want gas n air when it came down to it. Warm water in pool was amazing though. Think it really helped. Good luck to all of you yet to get there!

kbro79 · 04/08/2015 14:50

Ahhh lovely. Massive congrats. V pleased for you!

God I really hope mine comes before the faff of induction starts.

Luciferbox · 04/08/2015 14:58

Awww congratulations

Clstow · 04/08/2015 16:29

Lovely news 33 - congratulations.

Had my sweep about 3 hours ago (40+10) but feeling nothing so far... Anyone else got twinges?

kbro79 · 04/08/2015 16:40

Had mine at 10am this morning and nothing since. Been for walk round the park to try and help it but no joy. Not sure how much of a 'sweep' my midwife was able to do as I barely felt it. Have had much more uncomfortable smears. So not holding out much hope. Have a second crack at it on Friday.

waitingfornumber2 · 04/08/2015 17:54

Lovely news 33! Sounds like a great birth experience.

Had my sweep at 4.30 so hoping it does something. Not booked in for induction as hoping to go naturally.

ScottishSmurfette · 04/08/2015 19:04

Oooohh another baby in the world! Congrats!

All these sweeps done today, someone is bound to get a baby out of it lol

Its been very quiet on here.... are you all in labour? Grin

waitingfornumber2 · 05/08/2015 08:46

I wish!

Going to have a long walk to try and get things moving this morning. Am 41+1 today and REALLY impatient bit equally don't want induction yet as def couldn't be on mlu if I even have pessary Sad

kbro79 · 05/08/2015 09:15

I wish too. Have another sweep on Friday. And midwife did warn me with first baby first sweeps don't often work so trying not to be too disappointed but God it is hard being so pregnant.

Waiting that's rubbish about not being allowed on MLU. My hospital say if it works with the first pessary they will let you in MLU. But if need second they won't.

But hopefully both our babies will get moving before it comes to that!!

On the plus side the frustration of waiting and being so uncomfortable has taken over my child birth nerves. Now I just want it out.

Penguinandminipenguin · 05/08/2015 11:14

Congrats to those who have had their babies! Hoping the sweeps work for the rest of you :)
