Tootles how awesome :-)

Awww I loved seeing all the bumps :-) x

Amyyy27 · 03/06/2015 09:32

Oh Bristol best of luck for today! I can't believe how fast these scans are coming round!!

Aww Tootle congrats to your SIL!

Forgot to take a pic of mine today sorry! Is anyone else noticing their bump is bigger on an evening? I looked like a whale last night!!

Have my midwife appointment today, soooo hope we get to hear the HB. Ive been so sick this morning it would be nice to have some good news!

gennibugs · 03/06/2015 10:17

Good luck bristol! And amyy fx you get to hear the HB!

17 weeks today for me. In some ways feels like time is moving but on the other hand it isn't! Weird. I've also woken up feeling really stiff this morning, hobbling about like an old lady!

onefootinthebed · 03/06/2015 10:20

Good luck Bristol,tootle how lovely.

I feel like I have a brick in my tummy today. I have just been ready what the baby looks like at 14/15 weeks. I actully can't believe how fast time has gone since those first few weeks. I am now on count down to my 20 week scan which is 5 weeks today. Then it will be I will be halfway, how crazy.

Has anyone started thinking about maternity leave, what they need to buy or how much money they will need to be off or even how long they will be off for.

chasingtherainbow · 03/06/2015 10:34

Amyy just remember to burst into hysterical sobs if it looks like they aren't Grin

Will be thread watching for your scan news bristol.

I am feeling v despondent about work today. I had somewhat of a 'off' message from my boss late last night that really was unnecessary, and another little job I do is shaping up to be utterly pointless for several reasons. I feel like I'm on a countdown now. I'm over this and beginning to ponder if (and how) a career change is needed post this baby. can't afford to leave it anyways grr fed up with being under appreciated and not remotely valued.

chasingtherainbow · 03/06/2015 10:42

One foot I'm just starting to make lists now. Smp will be much the same as the £that actually goes into our account for bills, everything else is saved so apart from not saving much it won't affect us while I'm on smp. But because they're forcing maternity leave via redundancy at 25 wks it's going to run out v quickly once baby actually arrives so I'm worrying about the other side of that as I want to be off as long as possible. I'm ploughing away as much as I can now but I'll only have about 3k in my savings and I think if it gets used for 'living' it won't last long at all so I'm hoping to curb my spending habits (ha!) And for us to somehow manage on dh wage. I'd really like to replace my car but I know if truth it's important to keep our outgoings completely minimal and my car is a tiny expense.. but I'm still dreaming about buying a nice car. (I had to sell my nice car and get this cheapy run around when I was out of work for a bit last yr) but we could cope with my car so I'm trying to be sensible.

I bought my pram at a closing down sale the month before I was pregnant so that's a biggy off the list but I expect to need an offroader too so will buy a nipper when the baby is old enough.

I need:
A set of draws
Cosleeper crib
Some clothes! But will sort through dds newborn stuff first.
A bouncy chair that vibrates (god send)
Some muslin squares and a change bag.

Otherwise I think I've got most other stuff hanging about in the loft.

Will buy one bottle and a carton or two of formula incase I get bleeding/cracked Nipples again that first night but otherwise hope to crack bfing again so don't need much else in the way of equipment?

gennibugs · 03/06/2015 10:57

I keep thinking of starting a list, getting overwhelmed and panicking and putting my head in the sand. I really don't want to get too much to start off with but I just don't know what are the essentials. Need to Google a basic list. I get so confused by feeding, sleeping stuff etc.

gennibugs · 03/06/2015 11:00

I think we've worked out mat leave and money. Things will be tighter obvs whilst I'm off but that's ok. As long as our bills, mortgage etc are paid then we'll be fine. I'm saving annual leave up so that I can use that before my due date and hopefully start mat leave as close to my due date as possible. that's the idea anyway. I'm sure these things rarely go 100% to plan Grin

chasingtherainbow · 03/06/2015 11:15

I keep finding myself in the 'putting it off' frame of mind. .. oh I won't buy that yet because I haven't had my 20 wk scan yet. . Then I keep thinking maybe I won't buy anything until baby is 'viable' I'm still finding it hard to get my head around and any attempts to actually sort stuff doesn't feel 'genuine' I feel like I'm forcing myself.

I don't think I bought lots for dd at all. I was given a car seat, bouncer and breastpump from inlaws. I bought a pack or two of baby grows and vests but my two friends had had a boy and girl a year before so they gave me a bunch of stuff and I just gave the boy stuff back when dd arrived. I did buy Muslins,a baby bath (it's easier to just get in with them tbh so don't bother) a set of draws that I could change her on top of. I bought a cot but that was pointless too as she was in a moses basket and then we Coslept. I did buy baby gro bags but you can't use them straight away anyways irr. . A steriliser for dummies or bottles if you use them.

I can't really remember. Tbh clothes/moses basket/boobs or bottles are the essentials. Anything forgotten can be sent out for. Don't panic xxxx

onefootinthebed · 03/06/2015 11:16

Oh pooh, it's 6 weeks not 5. Arh well at least I have a holiday before that.

Chasing will you not get redundancy pay. With my ds I was 25 weeks when I was made redundancy. Sucks doesn't it, even if it is a job you arn't overly keen on.

I am sitting at my new desk today, I have been given a bunch of flowers as a congratulations from the team and a bag of sensations caramelised onion and balsamic vinigar crisp (which I'm afraid to say are nearly gone).

My mum bought me a bouncer the other day for Aldi but now you have said that I think my ds vibrated. I think I will have to get it out and see what state its in. The only think I can think of is a baby monitor, by the end of using my last one I could hear other people on it, also baby clothes I don't think I have any left over except boyish ones but I might have a look tonight.

Amyyy27 · 03/06/2015 11:16

thanks ladies, chasing I think real tears will happen if she says no! I'm really desperate!

Haha genni me too! I don't have a bleeding clue. I have always been the youngest in the family on both sides so have never been around babies.. I don't know where to start! We have a couple of bits and pieces bought and we have seen a travel system we like... but that's all!

onefoot I think for my mat leave (if I am not made redundant first!) I am due 11th November. Will put mat leave in for last working day of October but use a week and a half of holidays so will really go on mat leave at 37 weeks exactly. I don't really know when I will go back tbh! I thought maybe have around 7 months off but I honestly don't know. I feel like I'm running out of time to decide. 17weeks today and need to inform work at 25... which will probably come round very quickly once scans are over with. It also all depends on whether the government go ahead with the changes to our legal system as if they do I will definitely be made redundant at around 34ish weeks.. and will then have to look for a new job to go back to.

chasingtherainbow · 03/06/2015 11:21

Oh crap yeah, I need a monitor too. Ours is on its last legs.

No redundancy pay for me as I was only there a year April just gone. Problem is the job itself is lovely ..its the just the sheer lack of respect from parents at times. Breaks my heart in truth. I feel like I give everything. .

Anyways. Onto pastures new. Got my on babe's to think about. Counting down... 6 weeks to go.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 03/06/2015 12:44

Midwife appointment today. Didn't get to hear heartbeats Sad

Gr33dyeggs · 03/06/2015 12:59

Sorry you didnt get to hear the heartbeats guy Sad
The only thing I want to buy is a snuzpod. I've fallen love with it and given OH spent months on the settee when I come slept with ds I think it will be money well spent! I'm holding on til scan but then will be brave and try and get it because there's money off at the moment.

I'm not happy about sorting mat leave yet but work are pushing for dates.

Bristolian1 · 03/06/2015 12:59

Oh Guy how disappointing Sad. Hope you have better luck Amyy

All went well here. Wriggly little bean in there, measuring 12+2 so EDD is now 14th December. So relieved! DH face was a picture when he saw it moving around in there too - so cute! Thanks for all the good wishes folks, it really means a lot Smile

We are saving for my mat leave already (I am biggest earner). Hoping to take 6-9 months if we can be really good at saving for the next 6 months! Obvs not planning to buy anything yet (though this will be first non fur baby so we need everything!)

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 03/06/2015 13:13

Yey Bristol!

onefootinthebed · 03/06/2015 13:24

Oh very good news Bristol, arh guy sorry you didn't get to hear the heart beats, with ds I don't think they done that till the 26 week appointment.

Here is me talking about saving money and dh has just sent me an email about were Ivan have my 40th birthday meal in February. I think I will be to tired and itmakes me wonder about his priorities.....Hhmm

Amyyy27 · 03/06/2015 13:31

Oh guy that's rubbish :( what did they actually do today then?

Thanks Bristol, and fantastic news! Glad all went well :)

chasingtherainbow · 03/06/2015 13:48

Woo bristol! Are you under s.m or st.m?

Guy, that's rubbish. .it seems like they've changed rules in most places. did you not displace into hysterical tears and lay the guilt on thick?

Bristolian1 · 03/06/2015 13:52

Southmead Chasing. I am really happy with all the care I've had from them so far, the EPU in particular have been fantastic.

Barbiedoll79 · 03/06/2015 13:54

Great news Bristol :-)
Guy sorry you didn't hear hb's what a shame- someone else I know said the other day that they don't appear to check until 20 something weeks now. With dd I am sure it was 16 weeks x

chasingtherainbow · 03/06/2015 13:55

The epu are fab..the care I had from the mw after the initial news (though I hope to never ever see that 'autumn room' again) was really good.

Also when I had dd there in the birthing suite my mw was incredible. and now she's bloody moved abroad

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 03/06/2015 13:59

No. To be fair, it seems quite sensible. If she'd tried and not been able to find them, I would have panicked so probably best not.
At least I get scanned every 4 weeks from now on! Definitely feeling tickly movements from one baby. Nothing from the other but I think that is the one with the anterior placenta so probably makes sense. No idea how I will monitor movements with two though!

chasingtherainbow · 03/06/2015 14:03

Mw said it was because they can't always find it and it causes unnecessary stress. . They found pumpkin's really quick which I was grateful for. I would have driven straight to the epu in a rage if they couldn't have though Grin
