Chasing I think that was when we last dtd too. I really want to but just can't.

chasingtherainbow · 16/06/2015 11:15

Initially my drive was sky high but I'm uncomfortable enough already that I'm not remotely up for it poor dh

We didn't do it at all during pregnancy with dd either. Was too worried!

Amyyy27 · 16/06/2015 11:16

onefoot We have only dtd a handful of times (if that) since BFP. A mix of me being poorly and also terrified. I am sure the advice is as long as you are not bleeding, sex is completely fine. The baby is well protected in there. But still... I'm not comfortable and I worry so I just put off for a while!!

clarabellski · 16/06/2015 11:47

Good morning mumsnet. I love the topic title!

I found out I was pregnant last weekend (for the first time as far as I know) and am an anxious wreck. My husband thought joining a forum might be helpful to share experiences and hopefully alleviate some of the nerves.

I'm not really sure how far along I am yet (irregular periods/busy at work). I suspected I might be pregnant when I started to some pretty overwhelming exhaustion and nausea last weekend, and 3 home tests confirmed it (couldn't believe the first 2 so bought one of those expensive digital ones, oh dear....). I've got a doctor's appointment on Thursday to learn what next steps are.

The nausea is unreal. It's like a neverending hangover and whoever called it 'morning' sickness was having a joke. I'm paranoid that my colleagues will suspect something as I need to keep popping outside for some fresh air.

Anyway, I noticed the most recent conversation on this topic and we've continued to DTD with no ill effects (actually I find it distracts from the nausea a bit, as does exercise).

Gr33dyeggs · 16/06/2015 12:19

Welcome clara. Forums are great for support Smile Just a heads up this thread is for women pregnant after miscarriage so you might also be worth joining an antenatal club of other women due the same month.

Re sex, we've done it a few times (using condoms due to my bv fear). But after last time my groin was sore for days so think it will only be doggy style from now on!

Ah, sorry about that, thanks

Barbiedoll79 · 16/06/2015 12:30

Congratulations Clara :-)
As greedy said this forum had lots of women on who are pregnant after moscarriage obviously you are may wish to stay around but don't let our anxieties affect you :-)

Re dtd with dd we did it all the way through and she obviously turned out fine, with peanut we barely did it (I think once or twice) and lost that one and this time we are probably a happy medium of once a week and so far so good. The midwife said unless bleeding or had several miscarriages and the gp has said to avoid it then it is perfectly safe, she said it can't cause a m/c but the uterus contracting during the big o can feel painful at times and if things have already started to come away (for use of a better word) it could speed it up but wouldn't cause it. Hth
I found doggy too painful on my bump and oddly find a spoon best ;-) x

onefootinthebed · 16/06/2015 15:49

Oh ladies thanks for your honesty. I feel better knowing I'm not the only one who is worried or would rather not dtd. My dh hasn't put any pressure on me, I think it bothers me more than him.

GuybrushThreepwoodMP · 16/06/2015 17:04

We've been having the sex about once or twice a week. My sex drive it a bit low at the moment, mostly because I'm tired and cba but a token shag does make me feel nice and close to dh.
I think there are only risks if you have a low placenta or a cervix issue.
One of my placentas is anterior too so mostly only feeling one baby at the moment.
Still 9 days until scan. Getting nervous already. More than twice as many things that can go wrong with twins. Hoping they are both still ok.

onefootinthebed · 16/06/2015 21:31

Arh guy I am sure the are, but I understand the worry due to the experience we on this thread have gone through, I worry all the time I imagine we all do.

I was thinking on my way home tonight will be the night but then my boobs started really hurting for the first time in days so that's out the window lol .

Tootle10 · 16/06/2015 22:52

guy - hope the next 9 days go quickly for you.

Thought I'd feel loads better after my scan yesterday but still feeling anxious. I feel like I need to get to 12 weeks to feel reassured, but know I'll probably then just be worrying until the next milestone.

We're DTD about the same as usual, but then again I haven't been that nauseous or tired really. think it's fine unless there are complications - completely understand others' concerns but I'm generally reassured by the NHS advice.

Bristolian1 · 17/06/2015 14:58

Hi ladies! Got home from holidays at the weekend and just catching up with the thread! You've been busy Grin

Congrats and welcome to the new ladies - I definitely recognise some of you from previous threads, lovely to see you here!

Great scan news too! Glad all is going well here.

Greece was lovely, but am now struggling to adjust to reality again - sitting by the pool/driving to find a lovely beach/having a little swim was was a perfect activity level for me! Had to have a lunchtime nap today!!

Amyyy27 · 17/06/2015 15:50

Bristol glad you had a lovely holiday :)

Tootle unfortunately I think scans only give temporary relief from anxiety! For me anyway, I stop worrying for a little while but then get nervous for upcoming scan!

wispywoo1 · 17/06/2015 18:18

We've probably dtd a out once a week but I have zero sex drive. I'd happily pass on it for a while!

When is everyone going to start buying big things? I've seen an amazing offer on a pram. Will definitely wait til 20 weeks (less than 2 weeks now) but not sure if I should wait longer Confused

Gr33dyeggs · 17/06/2015 19:19

wispy I've just ordered a snuzpod at 20 weeks. It is really early in my opinion but there was a saving I couldn't resist! No intention to buy anything else - everything is being reused from ds!

OP posts:
chasingtherainbow · 17/06/2015 21:33

I bought my pram the month before we even conceived. Yes probably nuts. Especially considering it took us 16 months just to get pregnant with an ectopic last time.. but the saving was too much to risk loosing. (I'd have made a profit selling on if I needed) anyways. I've been buying nappies, some baby grows and a bouncer. ... will order our next to me sleeper in a few weeks so long as our baby is healthy and we'll at tomorrow's scan. We put up dds cot on the day of the 20week scan last time! Seems early now in hindsight but with my looming redundancy it's more about financial reasons for buying it now. X

onefootinthebed · 17/06/2015 22:50

Today I was given a baby monitor with video, I'm told it cost £100 brand new but I can borrow it as my friend doesn't use it any longer. So now I need nothing except maybe some new vests.

I am wondering what a snooze pod is I will need to have a Google, I have seen bean bag things which look cute and I am thinking of maybe a sling this time x

chasingtherainbow · 18/06/2015 06:36

Woo for slings. I can't wait to wrap a squishy Grin

From a professional pov I don't like the bean bag seats- it could be so easy for baby to twist and find their faces part buried in a material designed to mould around the body. But that's just me- they've clearly been tested (unsure how?) And on the open market. Go look see at one in store and see how you feel.

ARGHHHHH ..SCAN IN 4.5 hours.

Crossed fingers and toes for a healthy babe please ladies.

First I've gotta drive home from nightshift. Take dd to school... drive back the same distance to hospital. If only I could drink (or liked) red bull or coffee. Would lucozade work.. what does that stuff even do?

Romeolovesjuliet · 18/06/2015 07:09

Good luck for the scan chasing (and for getting through your very busy morning first!) - sending healthy vibes your way.

Barbiedoll79 · 18/06/2015 07:52

Good luck chasing

Re lucozade don't do it- even if it works I forgot for 12 weeks scan to drink and downed a lucozade- my urine sample came back with lots of glucose and I've been threatened with tests since- they finally accept sfter several repeat samples which are all fine that it was the lucozade!

onefootinthebed · 18/06/2015 08:21

Oh my chasing that's alot to do. I think they give a sugar boost to make your feel wide awake then it will fade and you need more. Have a banana instead (I don't know if it's true that they give you energy but I like to think so).

We have a snooze pod, however I just thought it was a crib with a drop down side, in all fairness we bought it about 3 weeks after ds was born I was so sleep deprived I could of bought a dog and thought it was a cat. I havn't seen the bean bags in the shops I have only seen it online.

onefootinthebed · 18/06/2015 08:24

Oh I meant to add good luck at your scan chasing, you must only have about 2 1/2 hours now.

Amyyy27 · 18/06/2015 08:31

Good luck chasing can't wait to see your little one! Xx

Bristolian1 · 18/06/2015 10:11

Good luck chasing! Thinking of you... Fx everything goes well

chasingtherainbow · 18/06/2015 12:00

I'M HAVING A BOY!!!!!!
