i havent told work yet but keep wondering whether i should.

only work in an office so not many risks to worry about although we are supposed to be moving offices next month so theyll have to know before then as ill be expected to move and carry no doubt otherwise.

im only not telling them as i thought they treat me like crap after my mmc. im hoping i can hang on till the scan but might tell sooner. its quite obvious as im wearing weird clothes and eatung almost constantly (trying to be healthy tho) so im sure theyve been speculating lol!

SomeSortOfDeliciousBiscuit · 10/03/2015 12:52

Oh god, I love lactulose more than is appropriate. I had a massive bottle of it in my pregnancy with DS and used to alternate taking swigs of it with my equally massive bottle of Gaviscon. SEXY.

I have my booking-in appointment in an hour. I've forgotten what it's for. Blush Height, weight, medical history, that sort of thing? Do you get to apply for free prescriptions/dental at this one? I get free prescriptions already but I could really make use of free dental treatment.

If I ask nicely, do you think the midwife would get me some lactulose, or does the prescription have to be from a doctor? I'm constipated, but not too badly and I'm rationing out my caffeine allowance very carefully. Trying not to have it daily, but a cup of coffee every few days is sorting me out. Blush

thesmallbear · 10/03/2015 13:00

MelB - I told my boss about this pregnancy at 6 weeks as I needed to go for an early scan due to spotting. She also knew about my MC and has been really helpful and supportive. I suppose it depends on how good your relationship with your boss is.

thesmallbear · 10/03/2015 13:01

Treacle - my sickness started to lessen at around 10 weeks. I'm 24 weeks tomorrow and all is fine here. It's just the placenta kicking in.

northdownmummy · 10/03/2015 13:09

Just had an early scan at 6+5 and everything is exactly as should be. Burst into tears with relief and finally allowing myself to look a little bit further forward than today.

broodylicious · 10/03/2015 13:30

treacle, 12+2 already? Wow that's whizzing by!! I was 10 weeks at Christmas and for a couple of days (funnily enough Xmas and Boxing Day), I felt totally and utterly normal. No sickness, no nausea. I panicked myself stupid and was convinced it was all over. As it was, the sickness came back late afternoon on 27th and, boy, was it ridiculously violent! Maybe you are just getting over it now though and the placenta is taking over, like someone else has said. Not long to wait til you see your beautiful bubba againSmile

missmakesstuff · 10/03/2015 13:40

Hello all, I haven't been on the thread in ages as I just started to feel much more confident and was so busy at work I've not had time to think, however I'm now 38 weeks and just waiting impatiently for baby to come! Booked in for a home birth, which took a bit of work as it'll be a vbac but it's all sorted now and just got to wait! Expecting a boy 23rd March, I'm convinced. He'll be very late but consultant has said I'm fine to go to 42 or even 43 weeks if I want so we shall see..
good luck to all of you on this Rocky road, it's been constant ups and downs here but I'm at the point now where I'm just chilling and am ready to meet my baby! I might check in over the next few weeks, I've got a lot of time on my hands...

Treaclepie19 · 10/03/2015 13:45

Thanks smallbear and broody :)
Yep 12+2, i feel like time keeps getting slower :p

DH is trying to keep me positive by saying it'll be the weekend be fre we know it and then it's the scan on the wednesday.
Feels a lifetime away! :p

Hello will catch up all posts tonight but just to say had a great 20wk scan everything looking good and it's a baby boy!

broodylicious · 10/03/2015 18:07

Yay little, fantastic news Smile Really pleased for you xx

Littlelady33 · 10/03/2015 18:35

Thanks Broody! Am officially going to start to be excited now. Mel it's a tough call but I have a pretty stressful job too and was very tempted to tell my boss in early weeks - partly to avoid some hideously tiring overseas work. I wriggled out of it and held off mostly due to pay rise negotiations but if you think it will help you could perhaps just tell your boss and make sure that the rest of your colleagues only find out after 12wks

thesmallbear · 10/03/2015 19:04

Congrats Little.

Can I ask how much exercise everyone's doing in pregnancy? I was fairly active before I got pregnant, but now I'm just walking to and from work and doing pregnancy yoga once a week. I didn't go to my yoga class tonight as I was tired and I couldn't be bothered to walk there in the cold. I know if I'd have forced myself to go I'd have felt better in myself. First class I've missed (going since 15 weeks and now 23), but still can't help feeling that I need a big kick up the arse!

Does running about after a toddler count as exercise? If so, small, hours and hours every dayWink Honestly, though, I don't do much at all, just walking to the car, around the park and to the nearby shops.

Treaclepie19 · 10/03/2015 20:55

Knitting counts as exercise, right?

OP posts:
Littlelady33 · 10/03/2015 21:25

Knitting definitely counts! I'm still swimming every day but I've been a little slower this week. And the dizziness has hit me a bit now and again. I stopped running due to incredibly sore boobs despite having every intention of carrying on - it just didn't feel right and I think you need to adjust and listen to your body.

cavamonster · 11/03/2015 06:16

Congratulations tanny and holly hope you are both recovering well and enjoying this time.

Mel, I told work at 4 weeks as I too have a ridiculously stressful role, I figured not telling people before had played no benefit so may as well try some different. He was brilliant and wrapped me in cotton wool, I'll never know what difference that made but I'd do the same if ever in this position again. None of my other colleagues knew till 12 weeks and even then only my immediate team.

On the work front, anyone know what the deal with going for promotion when pregnant is? There is a role coming up that would be to start mid April (I plan with annual leave to finish up around mid July) is there any point me going for it or does it seem mad as I'd be only in it 3 months then off for a year??

Treaclepie19 · 11/03/2015 08:20

I told work early on as well. They didn't support me in making things less stressful and so the doctor signed me off from 5 weeks and I'm still signed off now.
I really don't think I'd still be pregnant had I carried on.

Cava you're definitely within your rights to apply and as long as you're going back after I can't see it being a problem.

OP posts:
StickChildNumberTwo · 11/03/2015 09:29

Exercise, what's exercise?!

I told my boss the other day (at 5 and a bit weeks, first time I'd seen him since the BFP) because he's been a massive support through the mcs, and I want to know he's got my back if anything goes wrong. No-one else will find out until we go public with it (if we get that far). It helps that I work in a pretty dispersed team so it's easier to hide the fact that I'm knackered/distracted/clearly not on the same planet.

MelB2014 · 11/03/2015 11:42

Congratulations little and North that's really great news

Thanks all for the work advice. I did tell my boss yesterday and she was very supportive and I feel much better for it. She's giving me 2 days off to complete work on a professional course I've been doing because I've explained how much I'm struggling to do it after work (as I just want to sleep constantly).

I just had my booking in appointment and filled in the free prescription form etc. I wasn't expecting quite so many questions but I am told I am low risk so I hope that's good. I have put on so much weight since my MC in December though (almost a stone). I basically stopped exercising and started comfort eating. It's making me really depressed especially as I don't know if I can safely try and lose any weight (?) I'm still within the healthy BMI range (just) so the midwife said not to worry but having lost a lot of weight a few years ago the thought of ending up back there makes me want to cry (PG hormones ahoy!)
