We considered the harmony but on reading up, you get results back that say you're either low risk or high risk and if the latter, it's only rated as 50/50. So I'm not sure that it would've helped my mind at all.

some, so sorry to hear about your little one. Must have been a hard decision to make. I didn't want the amnio or cvs either because of how invasive they are and of course the risk of mc. Also as we were in feb and my mc was a year today, I didn't want the slightest possibility of doing an amnio, finding everything was fine and then baby dying as a result of the test - it'd have been two babies dying in the same month, 12 months apart and I just couldn't handle it. Maybe dramatic but how I felt and still do.

SomeSortOfDeliciousBiscuit · 27/02/2015 17:56

Thanks Broody. That's how I feel at the moment about the invasive testing too. As long as the screening seems fine, I don't think I could cope if I had invasive testing and risked a miscarriage. My risk factor is always going to be really high because of my history, even though it was completely down to chance. Nothing will lower it, so it's very important to me to have bloods/NT done promptly as that's all I can rely on.

I looked into Harmony, but it's completely out of our price range.

TheSmallBear - That's the same for my hospital too. To be honest, I would be very surprised to hear that any hospital would agree to terminate on the grounds of suspecting Downs, without the actual confirmation of CVS/amnio.

thesmallbear · 27/02/2015 18:24

Broody we were told that the Hatmony test was 99% accurate for Down's. And we got a number 1/10,000 chance (was 1/80 for NHS combined test).

The sheet of paper we had back seems to plot our result on a sliding scale with 1/10,000 at the bottom and 99/100 at the top. Which would seem to suggest that you can get up to a 99/100 chance i.e. 99% chance the baby has Down's.

thesmallbear · 27/02/2015 18:27

Here is a picture of our test result sheet.

Sorry to hear of your sad first pregnancy SomeSort. I think I'd have made the same decision in your situation Sad Flowers

SomeSortOfDeliciousBiscuit · 27/02/2015 19:10

It was six, seven years ago now, but feels longer. It might sound trite, but it's true that time is a great healer. If it hadn't happened, I wouldn't have my DS now and I can't imagine life without him, so I have no regrets at all.

Treaclepie19 · 27/02/2015 19:35

I'll try sunbathing, I'll give them a ring monday. Not sure if they'll be open tomorrow.

My SIL has just announced she's pregnant. 7 weeks behind me.

Sorry to those with worrying results past and present.

Typing from hospital again. Van driver rear ended me so came to get checked out. Think am fine - hb and movements are good and it was only a bump- but have to wait and see Dr. Apparently gtt result is high though and have protein in urine. Dunno if that means I am now high risk.

We're getting there sunbathing :)
It's been a long journey with a lot of competitiveness (on her part) but I think we're getting past that.
She's very excited and already filling in her baby book which just fills me with worry.
Still, I wish I could've been that relaxed.

Talking of which - I had a milkshake at the pub earlier, ice cream blended with chocolate. Then worried I might not be allowed it. I know people advise no mc flurries or soft scoop ice cream.

It's a bit late really :p

Gosh longest, hope all is ok.
Glad hb and movements are good.

Hi ladies
Thanks holly and longest. I somehow irrationally got upset yesterday that by not cutting out sugar completely, I somehow damaged the baby... but realise now that the higher tummy measurement is not such a big deal.
Still not moving much though... especially now I've cut out the few choc buttons that always used to make him move. That's the reason I wanted to have an induction date in place, so I can try and stop worrying and hopefully kick-start labour naturally, but the hospital were useless. I might try and speak to MW tomorrow (ahead of my next appt on wed) Hmm
In more encouraging news, the traces of snotty mucus I've had have now turned into much larger chunks, so hope that means softening and stretching in there.
holly induction's usually 40+10 here, I believe but I didn't really want to go over a week, so hopefully they can book me in for next Mon latest. Good luck with your induction, not long to go!!
tanny following you on the 2 week thread too, sounds promising, FX!

Sorry I've not had a chance to read up in detail, but wanted to say I'm all for the harmony test too, as it was pretty conclusive for us too.

Also, seemed like we've not had a stats update on a while, so here goes. Any additions?

I know - Monday!!! Shock

Treaclepie19 · 27/02/2015 22:56

Hehe thanks sunbathing :)
I'm going to buy one as after seeing how excited she is, i need to try a little harder.
I feel like MIL is going to just start ignoring me if every time she's excited I brush her off. Especially now SIL is pregnant.
I won't be filling it all in though...
My emotions are all over the shop tonight.
I even thought earlier, if I miscarried now, I'd have to watch her go through pregnancy.
How selfish am I? :/

Anyway, so exciting to see some thread babies are nearly due!!! :)

That's good to hear silver :)

Sunbathing that must've been so hard.
People do seem to just forget don't they?

I'm hoping this Little One is a fighter :) They were definitely wriggly!

OP posts:
northdownmummy · 28/02/2015 20:06

5+2 and it's the die date for the one I lost tomorrow. I've got really mixed emotions at the moment, not allowing myself to look to far ahead or to get excited.... Just in case.

I'm delighted that I dont have to go through tomorrow still wondering if I'll ever get pregnant again. But actually being pregnant isn't easing the pain as much as I'd hoped.

gingerbreadmam · 28/02/2015 20:18

i felt like that northdown my mmc stopped growing at 5+4. tbh when the day actually came it was just like all the other days, dont think the worry will ease until i see a healthy baby on a scan and maybe not even then.

was it an mmc u had? i like to think mmc's are a bit different to mc in that ur body proves it can carry it which is a nice bit of reassurance at times. i just try and convince myself it was a bad egg and this time have to be luckier.

i know ita not as simple as that but it helps me along a little.

northdownmummy · 28/02/2015 20:52

It was a mc at 10 weeks. I actually feel a bit relieved that I found out before the 12week scan, I think id have found that more difficult.

gingerbreadmam · 28/02/2015 21:01

the other thing i do which sounds really silly but everytime i go to the loo and things r fine a take a moment to myself jus to think yes things r going good. soon be the end of the day and thats another day further forward. the little steps help.

HeavenKnowsImNotSoMiserable · 01/03/2015 08:07

Hi silverine, could I be added to the list please?

I'm 35, no DCs, MC at 11+4 Sept 14. Currently 5wks today, EDD 1st Nov 2015
