Silver and holly how did that happen? Shit! I was bottom of the list for what felt like months, and suddenly here we are! Bloody scary and exciting x

silverine · 22/02/2015 19:36

I know, FX tanny!

Mslad · 22/02/2015 19:37

Thanks for looking after the stats silver Good luck to everyone near the finish line!!

I have a scan tomorrow morning, and am now gripped with anxiety. Thankfully I haven't had a full week of anxiety like I did before the scan at 12 weeks and 20 weeks, but it's pretty strong this evening!

Hope everyone else is feeling ok this evening Cake

northdownmummy · 22/02/2015 19:39

Hi ladies, can I come over and join you for a bit of hand holding and support.

I recognise a few of the names on here from the ttc after MC group. I already have a 2yr old DD and I miscarried back in August at 10 weeks. Been trying ever since and had just started the ball rolling with blood tests and a referral letter to the infertility clinic when I got my BFP last week.
Still very early days (4+3) but I'm trying to stay positive and take it one day at a time.
Seeing the doctor on Tuesday, should have been to get the results of my day 21 bloods. Instead I'll be asking for an early scan and to get a midwife appointment asap.

Also I've just come down with tonsillitis, happens to me at least once a year. Anyone know if I'll be able to take antibiotics while pregnant? One more thing to ask the doc on Tuesday

longestlurkerever · 22/02/2015 19:43

Welcome northdown and congratulations! Very exciting after difficulties ttc. Yes, there are several antibiotics you can take in pregnancy. Get an emergency appointment for tomorrow if you're feeling rough. Get well soon!

SomeSortOfDeliciousBiscuit · 22/02/2015 20:32

Welcome northdownmummy. We're date twins, I'm 4 + 3 today too. Smile

I started feeling queasy today and have managed to stay away from cheap internet pregnancy strips, but indulged with an ovulation test (they pick up hCG for those scratching their heads) and was reassured to see a whacking great strong positive appear within seconds. Woohoo!

broodylicious · 23/02/2015 07:45

Good luck mslad for your scan today xx

Welcome to all newbies. Lovely to see you here Thanks

My latest stress is tonic water. I had some at my folks last weekend and found it really eased my nausea. So bought a couple of bottles and have supped my way through them this week and felt soooo much better.... Only to then read yday (when searching for remedies for restless leg syndrome) that it's apparently not recommended for preggos due to containing quinine (anti malaria drug?) Can cause birth defects according to some websites. Grrrrr. So it's over a week until my anomaly scan and guess what I shall mostly be doing....beating myself up!

In other broodylicious world, our new kitchen is being fitted today and so at least I'm excited about that and finally being able to see my gorgeous Kilner jars in a row!

Treaclepie19 · 23/02/2015 08:52

Oh no broody, i didn't know that.
Don't beat yourself up - if it was as dangerous as that the nhs would advise us not to drink it.

Saying that I'm a hypocrite because I was researching bio-oil yesterday as mil gave me some to use. Then I saw people saying it wasn't safe :/

OP posts:
Thepurplegiraffe · 23/02/2015 09:10

Broody my boss drank it all the way through pregnancy to combat morning sickness and was absolutely fine. She was trying to get me to do the same but I'm not that keen on it. I'm sure a little bit won't do anything. For that matter I used bio oil all last pregnancy as well. Never heard anything bad about either!

thesmallbear · 23/02/2015 09:18

Broody and Treacle I think there is a lot of scaremongering about. If tonic water was dangerous it would be on the NHS banned list. As Bio Oil is made specifically for pregnant women I really don't see how it can be dangerous. I have a money off coupon for it and am going to buy some at the weekend.

Treaclepie19 · 23/02/2015 09:50

Exactly smallbear, it doesn't make sense.
I'm going to use it anyway.

If bio-oil is dangerous then they wouldn't be allowed to say 'use twice a day from 2nd Trimester' on the bottle! Quinine in tonic water is of a negligible level as it is highly regulated. If you read up on anything it is 'dangerous', if it was really dangerous we would know about it.

That said I have been going mental because I ate comte cheese last week (hard-ish cheese made with unpastuerurised milk with a label saying unsuitable for pregnancy).... I haven't been poorly though.

Hello to all the newbies and treacle, I've only just seen your news! Absolutely delighted for you, darling Flowers

Take all the 'not suitable for pregnancy' things with a pinch of salt. I'm on low-dose aspirin at the advice of the doctors as I'm high-risk for pre-eclampsia. It says in big bold letters "do not take in pregnancy". Hee.

Woke up at 6.45 to throw up copiously. While doing so, a little voice echoed forth from DD's room: "Mummy! It not morning yet! My clock is blue! You go back in your bed! Get up when yellow!" - did make me laugh and confirms at least that she understands the rules of her gro-clock Grin I do throw up loads of bile though, which is different to when I had DD, although then I had a gallbladder and now I don't. Wonder if that's the reason.

Midwife appointment tomorrow, which is helpfully right in the middle of when DD should be napping. Should be fun with a grumpy 2yo...

Treaclepie19 · 23/02/2015 11:55

llama and happy thats why I was so confused! I think people have just lost the plot.

Thank you commander :)
I just can't wait to get my 12 week scan appointment now.
Hehe bless your DD, naughty you getting up too early!!!

All went well Smile yay! she's measuring average for everything, (I love the word average!) apart from being 'slightly chubby'! Which i think sounds very cute - might that indicate a bigger baby?

I'm another one who's been drinking a lot of tonic water. I go by the NHS guidelines- I'm sure if it was high risk they would let us know.

Nope llama still not had it through. I had my booking appointment on the 13th so figured I'd give it a week but nothing yet.
Not sure who to ring to chase it up?

Could be because of that, I didn't investigate further as I knew it must be safe.

OP posts:
happygojo · 23/02/2015 12:15

I am using bio-oil... not sure it is working but I got stretch marks from my MC (bloated and then ate my feelings). I know I will get stretch marks but I am hoping that the skin will bounce back and the stretch marks go silver. I have LOADS from puberty but you can't really see them now so I am hoping for the same. I am only using bio-oil on my belly though because it is expensive and palmers everywhere else. My mum has a 'mummy apron' belly but that might have more to do with 3 kids, a c-section and a hysterectomy plus she was very overweight and then lost 5 stone! Although she never used anything on her tummy which gives me hope that bio-oil might do something
