Hi ladies,

Just wondering if anyone is due in the next couple of weeks and wants to keep a thread of how they're feeling, their daily struggles or keep updated with labour stories etc?!

I'm 38+0 and have been having niggles for a week or so. I have mild polyhydramnios and have been told to expect baby anytime soon, although some days I don't feel pregnant and feel I still have ages to go!

How're you feeling and have you had any signs that your LO will be making an appearance anytime soon?

Going to ring labour ward now. Contractions are 5 mins apart and I need gas and air!!! Have to take into account rush hour I guess.

Good luck ladies!

I'm 38+6 & feeling fine apart from ive got a horrific cold which is draining all my energy - not ideal. My pregnancy feels although it's gone so fast but I think the last couple of weeks will drag.

Still getting heartburn & some period cramps & for a couple of days I had diahreaha so thought it could be the start but that seems to of cleared up. Just a waiting game now I guess.

Definitely suddenly feeling overwhelmed about the birth & whether I'll be able to cope, anyone else feeling like that? This is my first so I really don't know how my body will cope-im very scared about being out of control as well Confused I think normal human nature has made me feel like I don't know if I'm ready to be a mum now the time is approaching- hopefully that's normal.

Roll on the 5th March anyone else due this day? Good luck to us all Smile

Ooh I'm very jealous of you grinning cat! Hope baby comes soon for you! I'm 41 + 2 today. Got the sweep at 12 with the reflexology and accupressure. Bit nervous for it but glad to be having something to try try and get things started.x

bambi07 · 25/02/2015 09:54

I've just got back from seeing my midwife.

Baby's head is at -2, and apparently couldn't be any lower without actually popping out Hmm

She reckons I'll give birth by next week. I'm sceptical. I reckon I'll go another 5 weeks

blankfornames · 25/02/2015 18:11

Oh my gosh...it really is all happening.
Come on ladies. We need more thread babies! Hazel..soon indigestion will be a thing of the past for you!

Congrats MrsCorr!!!

kitkatkaty87 · 25/02/2015 19:03

My sweep was unsuccessful today as cervix was too high to reach :( bit gutted. Can't believe it as he is so low I just thought my cervix would be on its way too.Booked for induction for 9 am on Friday. I'm hoping that it still might have done something as it felt like she pushed her hand pretty high up and was uncomfortable! Hope you ladies have had your babies now! X

bambi07 · 25/02/2015 21:35

40 weeks today and the amount of people who have text me to say "is it happening today?" is staring to drive me insane. Im not certain, but I'm pretty sure baby doesnt have a calander in there with her with the day marked off and the amount of people who tell me they are getting impatient now! How do they think Im feeling? Been told to expect a big baby and she is only getting bigger with every day, so to hear their frustrations only irritates me even more, as though we aren't the most excited about meeting our baby girl! would it be reasonable to send a group text telling everyone to p* off!

Im sorry to hear that your sweep was unsuccessful Kitkatkaty, I will keep my fingers crossed that it has done something for you and little one is on the way.

Larnie I think it's perfectly normal to be feeling anxious about the birth, I have been practising hypnobirthing for a homebirth and I have moments where anxiety creeps back and I start to doubt myself, I just go back to my books or CD's. I watched a programme about different births last night and it frightened me so no more birthing programmes until she is born!

Hope others are having some luck tonight, today has been quiet, so fingers crossed.

BigCatFace · 25/02/2015 22:37

Kitkaty, booked in for induction on Friday at 9 too! Sending vibes!

kitkatkaty87 · 26/02/2015 00:36

Ooo we will have to keep each other updated on progress that day then!

MrsCorr · 26/02/2015 12:17

I had a sweep last Wednesday & thought it had failed. My midwife told me it could take 3 full days to have an effect which would have been Saturday 3pm. I went into labour Sunday at 3 am so not too long after.

Don't worry too much about the birth, your body knows what to do & to be honest it's a blur for me already only 3 days later! Didn't get the birth I wanted but have felt well looked after through the whole process.

Just about to get home now with my little man Smile good luck to the ladies still waiting xx

hazel88 · 26/02/2015 16:24

Hi ladies,

Sorry for the lack of response, hope you're all keeping ok and are much closer to meeting your LOs!

So I went in for induction on Tuesday and had a pessary at 3pm as my cervix was unfavourable to burst my waters. By 8pm there was no sign of anything progressing apart from some pressure down there so BP's went home then 10 minutes later I had a shower and got out to find a steady trickle of waters (turned out to be my hind waters). Then started getting fairly regular painful contractions almost instantly which went on for hours and at about 4am I went up to delivery as I had a bleed. Then I was given gas and air which was AMAZING and BP's were allowed to return which really helped for the firm back rubs and company! Wasn't able to use the pool or bath due to being high risk. I asked for an epidural pre-pintocin drip which they suggested to get things progressing and also had my waters burst for me which I didn't feel a thing but a warm sensation! The drip made the contractions more regular but I got to 7 cm and progression slowed (she was back to back), so after 24 hours of contractions every 3-4 minutes and 2 days without any sleep I was exhausted, and a cesarean was offered to me which I gladly accepted!

Then last night at 7:27pm our DD was born weighing 8lb 2 (predicted 9lb) Grin she's an absolute stunner although I am slightly biased!

All I will say is induction was nowhere near what I anticipated, and with gas and air and then an epidural it was totally manageable! Nothing like what I'd imagined and got myself in to a state over! I wouldn't hesitate to do it all over again tomorrow to enjoy these precious moments. I'm completely and utterly in love and when she was shown to us over the screen in theater we both completely melted and fell apart, it's an undescribable feeling!

I've learnt that there was no need to fear induction, and despite my many moans every second of waiting was so worth it on order to meet our girl.

For those still waiting for their precious ones keep positive! Wishing you all the best Thanks Smile

Oh Hazel, congrats to you and your DD! So glad it all went well. And thanks so much for this as its a comfort to read as I'm being induced tomorrow.

bambi07 · 26/02/2015 17:02

A massive congratulations Hazel and thank you for sharing your story, it does make me smile and feel like I should stop moaning so much! I just can't wait to meet our little girl. Flowers

kitkatkaty87 · 26/02/2015 17:04

Congratulations hazel. Yes lovely to read before being induced especially as I am expecting my cervix to be unfavourable still too. Glad you are both safe and well.x

Cherryblossom200 · 26/02/2015 18:05

Hazel soooo pleased for you!!! Huge massive congratulations! Enjoy your bundle of joy! Flowers xx

Zsazsabinks · 26/02/2015 19:36

Congratulations Hazel!! Flowers

It's so worth it in the end! Also lovely to hear that induction isn't so awful.

xx

Dogsmom · 26/02/2015 20:32

Congratulations, it's lovely to read that induction doesn't have to be so bad, all I seem to read are horror stories and I'm being booked in at my appointment next week if dd hasn't arrived. You've put my mind at ease.

Enjoy those newborn cuddles.xx

hazel88 · 26/02/2015 20:48

Thankyou everyone! induction certainly shouldn't be feared especially when you have the opportunity of an epidural which was amazing!! I felt so much more relaxed than what I thought I would, try and keep calm and relax! Thanks

Something's happening here but I'm not sure what! On and off all day been getting pains and tightenings across my tummy, a very dodgy tummy, difficulty walking and some blood tinged mucus (not very bloody though and not loads of it). Wondering if this is prelabour or early labour?
