Hi ladies,

Just wondering if anyone is due in the next couple of weeks and wants to keep a thread of how they're feeling, their daily struggles or keep updated with labour stories etc?!

I'm 38+0 and have been having niggles for a week or so. I have mild polyhydramnios and have been told to expect baby anytime soon, although some days I don't feel pregnant and feel I still have ages to go!

How're you feeling and have you had any signs that your LO will be making an appearance anytime soon?

Sad try and focus on the positive of being able to prepare for it. Plus, you still have time to pop before your induction date Smile

Any news Bambi?

Good luck tomorrow Hazel, keep us posted if you can!

BigCatFace · 23/02/2015 23:04

Thanks, I am trying to. Just feeling a bit disheartened. How are you feeling hazel?

blankfornames · 24/02/2015 01:20

Well my midwife recommended that i have a nice glass of wine to relax. Definitely worked for me!!

MrsCorr · 24/02/2015 04:13

Hi everyone, just getting a chance to update you all!
Waters broke about 3 in the afternoon on Sunday, went into maternity assessment about 6 to only be 2cm dilated! Went home again & spent 3 hours in the bath listening to music. Pains gradually got worse so came back to hospital around 9 & when I was examined at 11 I was 5cm Shock took the gas & air until 3 when I took the epidural & found out I was nearly 9 cm! Midwife was unsure if baby was back to back so after pushing unsuccessfully a forceps delivery was discussed. Prepped for theatre & when I got there baby's heart rate was dropping so had to have an emergency c section. Reuben James was born at 9.30 on the 23/2/15 ?? he is beyond perfect & I'm feeling really good so far. Have been up walking for hours, had a shower & breast feeding is going well, he's latched on 2/3 times successfully Grin will probably be in hospital until Thursday but don't mind too much as my husband is allowed in from 10-9 every day.
Good luck to all you ladies still waiting, it's worth the wait!
Will have a look back through the thread now, see what I've missed Grin

hazel88 · 24/02/2015 06:18

Oh wow Mrs Corr that's amazing!! Well done and congratulations, so glad your baby boy is finally here and you're both doing well! Lovely choice of name too Grin Thanks

Thanks Tanny Grin

Blank I did consider the wine but heartburn wouldn't let me so much as have a whiff!

Bigcat I've been feeling the same way, disheartened about having to be induced Sad nothing has happened overnight it's still so quiet down there, was hoping by some miracle she might leave it until the last minute but no! Had a wobble the other day about the whole thing but feeling more positive now. I'm not looking forward to the most part of the next couple of days, but what I'm really excited about is the thought of finally meeting my baby girl and pregnancy being over (despite having a really good pregnancy). I just want to get on with it! I'll be phoning the ward later to see if they have a bed for me. Will keep you posted!

Well done Mrs Corr! I KNEW that would be it and baby was on its way the other day, I've been waiting for news! Sounds like an epic birth so glad that you're recovering well, what a beautiful name too!

Hazel88, is today your day for induction?

x

hazel88 · 24/02/2015 10:43

Massive congratulations MrsCorr and one of my favourite boys names, thank you for sharing your story.

Good luck today Hazel, I hope she is in your arms before you know it!

Having had 2 days of increasing contractions, all stopped and am feeling very ill, sick and exhausted, bed rest prescribed. Fingers crossed she'll be here soon. Hope others are having better luck. X

Zsazsabinks · 24/02/2015 11:52

I'm cheering you on from the sidelines Hazel. It's all SO worth it! Good luck. xx

Bambi07, you must be completely shattered. Hope that you get lots and lots of rest and baby's here soon. Flowers

Dogsmom · 24/02/2015 12:07

Congratulations Mrs Corr.xx

I'm now 39+2 and have no real symptoms, last thursdays sweep did nothing but make me lose my plug.
I've had the odd hour of regular cramps but they always tail off, I still reckon this Thursday will be THE day.
On the plus side I've been to the loo twice in the last 24 hours which is unheard of for me and I've spent the morning cleaning skirting boards and polishing the bread bin after being awake in the night thinking how dirty they were so maybe I'm nesting?

Cherryblossom200 · 24/02/2015 15:56

Good luck Hazel!! Flowers xx

tannyLoo · 24/02/2015 15:56

MrsCorr how lovely! Congratulations and enjoy those newborn cuddles!

How's everyone else doing? I've had a few period pains and some backache but nothing major. I have my first lot of induction acupuncture this afternoon so hoping that will move things along a bit...

39 weeks today.

Grinningcat · 24/02/2015 18:18

I saw my Mw today for my 40 week appt. induction is booked in for the 6th March!! And she doesn't believe that sweeps are any use for FTMs!! I will go mad if I have to wait that long.

Thankfully as it happens this afternoon I have been having regular mild contractions since 1pm every 15 mins. They are sharper than period pains and extend to my back, but are low down and I lost a proper chunk of my plug as soon as I got home from the Mw. I'm thinking it may be the latent phase of labour where my cervix is thinning so I'm hoping this means things will properly kick off before the weekend. I can't wait until next Friday!

monkeyfacegrace · 24/02/2015 18:25

I've just got back from hospital, having had my 36 week appointment with my consultant. They have point blank refused to induce me. I cried. A lot.

Plan is to do nothing for 2 weeks. Baby is fully engaged and so low she could feel her head, but cervix is right back and posterior.

I could cry. Again Grin

Hope things are going well for OP.

And Flowers for everyone else.

bambi07 · 24/02/2015 18:27

Fingers crossed for you Grinningcat, that all sounds very promising and Im sure things are progressing for you. x

I hope things are going smoothly for you too Hazel. Looking forward to some more baby stories coming soon. x

tannyLoo · 24/02/2015 20:28

I think things are starting to get going here. I had acupuncture this afternoon and now everything is a bit ouchy. Of course it could all stop again, but I'll keep you posted!

hazel88 · 24/02/2015 20:50

Hi ladies!

So I came in at 2, cervix was unfavourable to pop my waters so they gave me a pessary at 3 and was 1cm. Mum and DP stayed until 8, 8:10 I got in the shower...put a pad on and felt a trickle which hasn't stopped! Now getting regular strongish period pains coupled with backache. This seems like it could be the start! I'm shattered, was looking forward to getting in to bed and having a nap haha.

Hope everyone is doing ok, will catch up on posts later x

Grinningcat · 24/02/2015 22:24

Think this is definitely the start of it. Contractions are getting stronger, far stronger than period pain, and are approx 10 mins apart, but still low down and not high up. Just had a bath and taken paracetamol. Think I will have a restless night ahead of me.

tannyLoo · 24/02/2015 22:45

Ooh, exciting times ahead!

This is definitely a slow start of something, I just wonder how slow... I'm off for a bath too. I'm just backache and period painey at the mo.

Grinningcat · 24/02/2015 22:50

Sound like a few of us are in for an interesting night. Good. I may be in need of company. I'm hoping DH might be able to get some sleep even if I don't.

hazel88 · 25/02/2015 00:20

I'm contracting away every couple of minutes but still only 1cm. have thrown up and feeling shattered. Am on my own too as BPs aren't allowed to return until 4 cm dilated Sad

OP posts:
tannyLoo · 25/02/2015 01:49

Hazel, that's miserable to be on your own. Hope they let him in soon!

tellmemore1982 · 25/02/2015 02:51

Hi ladies, what a great thread and it's good to be able to share stories at this stage. Many congrats to those who have their babies with them, to those in final stages - good luck.

I'm 39+2 and due for induction at 40w if nothing earlier. I was 2weeks over with ds who ended up being nearly 10lb.

So far I've had pains, tightening and back pains on and off for about ten days but nothing regular enough to suspect labour. I think it will be this weekend but am trying to get as much rest and good nutrition as possible in case it's anytime this week.

Looking forward to hearing how you all are

tellmemore1982 · 25/02/2015 02:53

Hazel, thinking of you and hope things speed up for you soon. Try to rest if you can, you must be exhausted
