I thought the 2 week wait was bad, anyone else in first 12 weeks?

Hi all

I'm about 5 mins pregnant (4 weeks) very excited but also terrified. I'm not generally a worrier but I'm just so desperate to get to 12 weeks, I also can't wait to share the news.

I wondered if anyone else is in the same boat who would like to chat here until there 12 weeks is up? I found it quite comforting on the ttc board to keep returning to the same thread.

Also wondering who you have told and what your experience was like? My DH was over the moon but I've regretted telling my line manager, she's very sensible and said things like don't tell anyone else (I wasn't planning to) and that miscarriage rates are much higher than I think - this hasn't helped my worry! I only told her because I had some flights coming up that I wanted to change to train journeys and I thought I'd just be honest about needing time off for appointments.

Anyway I'm rambling, mostly it would be nice to ask those of you in the same position questions like how you are planning to cover non drinking at big events etc

It would be nice to 'meet' some fellow pregnant ladies Smile

To put my mind at ease I'm considering paying for an early scan. Is anyone else doing this / done this? 5wks+4 and very few symptoms. I feel I need proof a baby is in there!

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 30/01/2015 19:12

Thanks for your lovely message Phenomum. I'm pretty sure I was in shock for the first week after I found out! The dr did a test and I went straight to Boots and bought two more tests to check! It was practically immaculate conception... Then once the shock wore off, the anxiety started! All my expensive/unnecessary scans have looked good! But now just spending all my time crying and vomiting. An injurylawyers4you advert had me bawling my eyes out this morning. Trying ginger drinks/biscuits for sickness but coca-cola and popcorn is all I really want! My teeth will rot and I'm getting fat/spotty. Joy.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 30/01/2015 19:17

CA86 - I've had 3 early scans by 9 weeks (£450 - ouch!) and I think the peace of mind is worth the money. I'd go for it!

CluelessDil · 30/01/2015 21:03

It's Friday, 9pm I'm just about to get out of the bath- there's a chilled bottle of wine in the fridge that I could happily chuck in the bin... If that's not a pregnancy sign I don't know what is Grin

CluelessDil · 30/01/2015 21:16

Now I want minstrels! Mmmm minstrels. Minstrels and tea, yes please. It's to early to say I have pregnancy cravings isn't it? Can't wait to use that!

I'm craving tandori mixed grill and pilal rice!! mmmmmmmmm

CluelessDil · 31/01/2015 11:54

Anyone doing anything nice today? I'm going out for lunch with a friend (who doesn't know) but there will be no alcohol suggested as I'm driving us so should be an easy afternoon. Tomorrow is 5 full weeks. I'm tempted to get another clear blue date indicator to make sure it now says 3+ Weeks. I'm hoping that's the extent of the crazy today! Dh has told me to stop looking up statistics about mc's etc so I'm going to try as I feel like at times it is overwhelming me and I read a good post somewhere that said as of today you are pregnant - I took that to mean I need to know the facts, but I also need to enjoy the fact that I am actually pregnant as of right now!

Enjoy lunch clueless di, I am relaxing after nausea all week, so bit of a duvet day, while dh does housework (for a change!). Can anyone recommend a good tv series to watch?

alien11 · 31/01/2015 12:46

hestialou have you seen Broadchurch?breaking bad? Broadchurch has a sad start as about a murder of an 11yr old boy but it's a fantastic british series.
Jealous of the duvet day.
Here dh is off to play football & in going to my mums to share the news I think...

DefinitelyNotElsa · 31/01/2015 12:48

Hestia - definitely try Orange is the New Black if you've not already seen it. Bloody brilliant!

Poppytime · 31/01/2015 13:43

Im watching broadchurch too, have even got DH into it. Apparently this second series has been slated? I'm still watching, although I do wonder if the first series was better and they rushed out a second series as so popular? Apparently they didn't expect it. Anyway I need new things to watch so any more recommendations? As looks like the next couple of months will be rather hermit like until can tell people why I am not drinking!

hestialou · 31/01/2015 14:19

Thanks for suggestions and putting them on watch list, but decided on Disney movie day as cant concentrate! Lol
Alien have a fab time telling mum

GlitzAndGigglesx · 31/01/2015 14:28

I hated the first 12 weeks. Constantly paranoid I'd had a mmc and then stuffing my face with bread to get rid of the nausea. 14w now and ballooning!

alien11 · 31/01/2015 20:14

poppy I'm not enjoying the 2nd series as much as the first. I did a mammoth watch on iplayer for the first series and am disappointed with the 2nd so far. I think you re right it's been rushed out.

My mum was thrilled with the news Smile but had to control it in front off dd!
What you all up to tonight? Dh is at a birthday party so I'm watching trashy tv

seriouslynonames · 31/01/2015 20:33

Can I join?
Am about 5 weeks with second baby, although been trying for 2.5 years so don't quite believe it!
Also been googling all symptoms, lack of symptoms, checking knickers, peeing on so many sticks, and am now worried that the Clear Blue digital still doesn't say 3 weeks +...
Good to know I'm not the only crazy one... I don't remember being quite so bad last time, but it was a long time ago now!

Pinks22 · 31/01/2015 20:45

Hi! I'm totally new to this site so hello everyone ??

I've been in a panic for the past few days and suddenly found this thread after googling every possible symptom/lack of I can think of.

I'm 6 weeks 3 days and feel nothing! I had my first GP appointment yesterday and he said it was all normal/I'm mad. But I don't feel pregnant! I did another test today and the line was quite faint - is this bad? I've been reading so many terrible things I think I might have a breakdown before I have a baby. I just feel sick with fear (but no morning sickness) and am convinced something's wrong ??

GoooRooo · 31/01/2015 20:54

CharlArchie86 I'm 5+6 and I've booked an early scan for 8 weeks. Time sure is dragging on.

GoooRooo · 31/01/2015 20:55

Hello and welcome Pinks :) A lot of us in the same boat I think.

Teaching123 · 31/01/2015 21:22

Hello everyone who's new, congratulations! I absolutely love that people are finding our thread now by googling symptoms. Amazing :) happy Saturday night everyone, doing much exciting?! I have Die Hard on and am eating plain rice, ugh... Where's the wine?!!!

TakingTheStairs · 31/01/2015 22:54

Hi all, had two early scans this week. Two- I know ! The first (yesterday) didn't go to plan. My consultant didn't see what she was expecting so I was sent for emergency bloods to test hormone levels. When they came back a couple of hours later my hcg levels were much higher than they were expecting which sent alarm bells ringing and I was asked to come back in today to check if I had an ectopic pregnancy.
After much worry today's scan went much better. Sac & heartbeat exactly where they were meant to be :) yay!

TakingTheStairs · 31/01/2015 22:55

Plain rice Teaching? Bleugh!
Bring on 12 wks when I can have a sneaky sip of wine!

MrsEvansAlmost · 31/01/2015 23:14
