Last thread ended with a series of Really Good News, so let's hope this one keeps up the trend!

At 18 weeks I am down 3 1/2kg on pre pregnancy weight. Even when not being sick I really struggle to eat, I have just had to reject my lunch as it made me nauseous. Something similar happened last time and baby was growing fine. Hopefully it is the same same this time though being my second I thought I might be showing more by now which I find a bit concerning. Still fitting into jeans which were reasonably tight pre pregnancy.

happygojo · 09/02/2015 14:05

Omg I want potato waffles and spaghetti hoops SOOO BADLY!!!!!!!!!

I lost 3lbs in first trimester, well I lost 5lbs and gained 2 back because I started to eat again and those things I eat are primarily beige... or melon.... bloody love melon.

Try not to worry treacle concentrate on staying hydrated. Are you taking any vits? I am finding it easier to take them at night just before bed as I get super bloated and constipated if I take them in the morning.

14 weeks and feel almost human! Almost.... having a post lunch slump though

Treaclepie19 · 09/02/2015 14:12

I love beige food and melon too!!!
I'm drinking plenty of water but only taking folic acid and vitamin d as I'm useless at taking the massive pregnancy vitamins.
I figured I wouldn't need them as my diet is so good generally buy it's not at the moment.

I can't see how I'd swallow the tablets not as I'm so bad at swallowing them when I don't feel sick.
Spose I could mention it to the doctor?

CommanderShepard · 09/02/2015 14:18

purple I have a feeling this might constitute a stealth boast in some quarters, so I apologise, but: I was wearing non-maternity jeans on my due date. Not really because I was small (I was huge) but because they sat low enough to go under my bump.

treacle how about taking some of the vits separately? maybe some b vits for your sickness and energy levels? I had the occasional berocca in the 1st trimester. It doesn't contain any vit A and everything that is in it is in pregnacare so figured it would be ok. I gave in and took preg vits (boots own as I HATE pregnacare with a passion), because i was getting migraines and worried I might be deficient in something.

Your diet will improve soon and baby will be fine. Even Sketti hoops have nutritional value!

We should go into business and develop a soluble pregnancy vitamin. Or chewy ones We'd make loads.

WRT iron Spatone's very gentle on the stomach and I can't taste it if it's in orange juice. Floradix also good and a good bit stronger, I think.

Thank you all :) Some brilliant ideas.
Off to the doctors now anyway so will try and remember to ask for their opinion :)

MelB2014 · 09/02/2015 15:54

Hi ladies

Congrats to everyone else who is expecting!

I am 5 weeks + 1 after a MC in December and trying really hard not to be a nervous wreck. I don't want to tell anyone yet but I am finding it very hard at work at the moment because I feel constantly nauseous (I haven't been sick though) and I am so tired I could sleep face down on my computer quite easily...

I didn't have such strong symptoms before the last MC, so I'm hoping that the fact i feel awful is a good sign?!

I started taking the supplements last week when I found out I was pregnant again.

Treaclepie19 · 09/02/2015 17:11

Been to the doctor and she's done a swab to see whether it's thrush or bv ive got.
Irrational worry now is that it will have caused something to go wrong. Gah! I am useless.

Congrats melb :)

gingerbreadmam · 09/02/2015 17:22

i spoke to a nurse practitioner about vitamims as i was on ferrous sulphate due to being anaemic after mmc and had 5mg dose of folic acid due to high bmi. the vitamins contained both. she told me no need to take vitamins and just leave them.

went to purchase vitamin d yesterday at boots and pharmacist asked me about anaemia and said i shouldnt need them if taking ferrous sulphate and to speak to the dr. its all so confusing. ran out of ferrous sulphate today and test results last week had me as borderline anaemic still so speaking to dr tomo, hopefully know more then.

silverine · 10/02/2015 13:14

How is everyone today?
37+1 here and pleased to have reached full term considering short cervix! Still this week left of work although wed & thurs working from home.
Mat leave couldn't come soon enough though as feeling increasing pressure on bladder and pelvic floor and regular pain in hip joint. Had to inch my way forward this morning from bus stop to office...
At least my mum's arriving tonight to stay for birth and first few weeks, so should take some of the pressure off. Would appreciate next week at home on mat leave but feel like would like baby to come sooner rather than later!

happygojo · 10/02/2015 16:03

How exciting Silverine and can't believe you are still working! I am not sleeping well at all. I am only 14+1 so its not my bump waking me up. In fact I am not sure what is waking me up. I am lying awake and tossing and turning all night. I bought a pregnancy pillow and although awesome it isn't really helping. I fall asleep ok but then the waking up starts a few hours later. I am also worried because i seem to be sleeping best on my right side and I am desperately trying to get used to sleeping on my left. I am sooo tired :(

Is this it? no more full nights sleep ever?

Treaclepie19 · 10/02/2015 16:07

I'm also best sleeping on my right.
Wasn't sure when we should start worrying if we're on our right?

Threesocks · 10/02/2015 16:30

Hi ladies - hope you don't mind me coming back to join you - I need someone to help me get a grip. This is my fourth pregnancy (prevoius history m/c (8 weeks) , dd, MMC(14weeks, baby stopped growing at 10.5 weeks).
I am currently 10+4 and feeling totally overwhelmed. I had an early scan at the EPU at 8+2 and all was ok. However, I just can't help feeling that something is wrong. I have no real pregnancy symptoms (other then general tiredness and hunger), however I didn't have any major symptoms when pregnant with my daughter.
I was supposed to have my midwife booking in tomorrow, but she has just phoned and cancelled to move to next week, so my dating scan is going to be even later sa the paperwork always seems to take ages.
I phoned the EPU and they have booked me in for a reassurance scan on Friday ... I'm terrified that its all gone wrong again - help!

Mslad · 10/02/2015 16:52

Welcome threesocks sorry you've been through so much, but great to have you here- its a great source of comfort. For all of us on board here, it seems that anxiety coming up to a scan is very normal for us (unfortunately). You had a late loss last time, but a good scan at 8+2 is a really good sign, and I kept telling myself that the chances of the same thing going wrong twice in a row, must be very low right? Lack of symptoms seems very common too. Handholding until Friday - I really hope it goes well.

treacle whats this about not sleeping on your right? I thought it was not on your back after 16 weeks, which I have really struggled with, I'm not sure I could take ruling out the right side too!

I've started sleeping really badly, due to pain in back and hips after lying in the one position for longer than half an hour...also, I'm finding it hard to turnover due to size of bump. I'm only 26 weeks - is that the end of my good night sleep? I'm really struggling to work this week.

silver how exciting you're 37+1! Is it hard to believe how close you are? I also can't believe you're still in work. That's great your mum is coming. We're really struggling with that at the moment. I live abroad and mum would love to come before the birth and for a few weeks afterwards...but I know dp would struggle with that long a stay, and I would too. I don't usually mind living abroad, but at this time, wish I had family close by who could 'pop in' and visit!

Babytinx11 · 10/02/2015 16:54

Nerves are setting in now Confused DS has gone to dm's until baby makes her appearance most of the housework is done bags are packed and everything is as ready as it can be for her to arrive. Just gotta keep everything crossed there is a bed or I may end up having a breakdown lol

Treaclepie19 · 10/02/2015 17:16

mslad it's something about the blood supply to baby being best on your left side.

I'm thinking it can't be that important as people have been having babies for so long without all these guidelines.

Mslad · 10/02/2015 17:31

oooh exciting baby good luck with everything, hope all goes well and you're home soon with your little bundle of joy Smile

That's what I think about the sleeping on your back treacle if it was that dangerous there would be a lot more serious warnings about it. (actually my mw said the back thing was only for the mother, not really for the baby, so try to prop myself up a bit, and just ensure I give myself time getting up so as not to faint)

cavamonster · 10/02/2015 17:52

I have also heard that treacle, I am actually finding when I sleep on either side I feel a sort of pulling so I'm currently sleeping on my front?! Which is unusual for me and probably why I'm waking up in the middle of the night and unable to get back to sleep.

How exciting Silver and Baby, bet you can't believe it's nearly time!!

My latest thing is I'm getting a twitch in my index finger in the morning and ever so subtle pins and needles - surely I can't have carpal tunnel at 10 weeks??
