Hi all,
Hard to believe I'm Nearly there indeed. Still much more anxious than excited though. Worried about Complications, stillbirth, etc, with all the horror stories you read in the papers Confused.. just want him here safe so I can breathe a sigh of relief!
DH has also Been berating me for working until w 38 and it's getting hard... but my company only offers the minimum statutory mat leave, so the earlier I left, the shorter I would then have withhwith baby... I'm already sharing the leave 7 months - 2 months with DH as it is as he gets paid more to take additional paternity leave... Sad
Mslad My mum also lives abroad (where I originally come from) and she's coming over for at least 5-6 weeks staying with us. We also live with the in-laws... Shock so there will be little privacy. But I really need the help now as in laws are elderly and can't help out. Planning on spending a good few weeks back home in the summer though, so I can have my family's help while staying at our own place.
baby you must be anxious too especially as you have the date! Hope there are no bed issues at the hospital and the induction is quick! X

Boozle80 · 10/02/2015 21:04

I'm crap at sleeping on my left! I don't seem to be able to stay there!
Tanny, this is exciting! Keep us posted - Bet you can't wait! Xx

silverine · 10/02/2015 21:11

Re sleeping on right, it's to do with better circulation if you are on your left. but I had to switch between left and right as I was getting too stiff if in one pisition. As I was getting bigger though I was getting worried as I occasionally felt this very palpable throbbing on my right and worried I was blocking a major artery supplying blood to baby. But I asked the doctor who said not to worry.
I found the best way to get comfy at night was to use one of those little wedge pillows under the bump for support (tthe crescent shaped one was too big and useless. It may also stop you rolling onto your back.

silverine · 10/02/2015 21:16

tanny I'm also hoping for an early arrival as have short cervix which can apparently be an indication, and bump is very low, although I don't think baby is engaged yet. I'm having a private scan on Thursday to determine exact position (although midwifes were certain It's cephalic), umbilical cord, cervix etc. As mw wouldn't send me to one but I need to for my peace of mind. Did you ask for one? Definitely ready now for all this anxiety to be over!

Babytinx11 · 10/02/2015 21:20

silver I've been feeling the same re complications woke up at 4 this morning in a cold sweat still can't quite believe when I come out of hospital I'll have a baby Shock

broodylicious · 10/02/2015 21:23

Sending pushing vibes tanny!!

Got the call from mw today. One in 85 that baby has ds, so high risk. Declined the opportunity for tests as we don't believe in abortion so will continue regardless. Defo don't want to do anything with risk of mc attached! Feeling tearful and overwhelmed right now but think we are doing the right thing by not going for those invasive tests.

silverine · 10/02/2015 21:30

Broody we had an even higher risk but decided to go with the harmony blood test at the FMC. That's in London but I know others do it too. £500 but so worth the reassurance! Hugs!

tannyLoo · 10/02/2015 21:33

I know, silver I've been struggling to sleep as I've had such high anxiety levels, along with all the other sleep issues...

I ended up giving myself a good talking to the other night about getting excited and relaxing into the knowledge that I will hold this baby. It has helped, a bit! Still can't come quick enough though... DS2 was born at 38 weeks, so am not being too unreasonable I hope!

I'm very impressed at still working. It seems like putting on my pants the right way round is an achievement at the moment! Blush

I have been sleeping on my sides with pillows and a big long sausage thing to support where I need it. Sometimes I have the sausage behind me to lean on. I actually get kicked much more when I lie on my left side, and DH breathes in my face. Yuk.

thesmallbear · 10/02/2015 21:35

Broody my Down's screening (NHS test) was 1/80. We paid for the Harmony test which is more accurate and it's now 1/10,000. 1/85 still means that it's much more likely that the baby doesn't have Down's than does. If you wanted further tests you don't have to terminate. It might just help to (hopefully) put your mind at rest, or prepare for a Down's baby if Down's is confirmed.

tannyLoo · 10/02/2015 21:45

Broodie you must be feeling all churned up. As silver says, the harmony test is non invasive. Cuppa had baby Percy a couple of months ago. She chose not to test, and I don't know the odds she was given, but he has downs, and I don't think they would have him any other way. She was totally in love following a real struggle to get there. Hang in there, you are one strong and determined mumma!

Silver no more scans for me Sad and I had a feel inside last night whilst in the bath (sorry tmi) and there is a head sitting a couple of inches inside my fanjo! Cervix is still closed but very soft and only feels like a cm or so in depth. (sorry that was definitely tmi!) So, position is pretty definate and managed to freak myself out at the same time...

longestlurkerever · 10/02/2015 22:10

Wow tanny, baby and silver. Exciting times! Good luck to you all.

broody you sound very strong. Some nhs hospitals now offer harmony or a similar test for free if you are clsssed as high risk but it may only be those that are participating in a trial. All the best with whatever you decide.

Treaclepie19 · 10/02/2015 22:34

Sending hugs broody, i wish I could give some useful advice. The ladies have mentioned everything I can think of.

I'll be 8+3 tomorrow. At that point last pregnancy I woke up bleeding.
I'm a bag of nerves and I really need to get some sleep as I've got a meeting at work tomorrow about when I'm going back.

Annnd breathe!

OMG tanny, that's brave of you! I dare not poke about! Shock sounds like you're close though. Still, don't think there's much chance of anyone coming ahead of baby this week - I Just checked the stat List though, is d-day really TOMORROW.?!! Best of luck baby!!! Flowers

tannyLoo · 10/02/2015 23:52

Wow baby! How did I miss that it is tomorrow? Wishing you so much luck for it all, I really hope they're not too busy to get you going. Please keep us informed! Grin

Hopefully silver, holly and I won't be to far behind you. Can't quite believe were here xxx

Mslad · 11/02/2015 00:07

Sending more hugs broody I was given 1/157 risk. I had the harmony test and the results turned out fine. After an mc it feels like another hurdle to deal with in this path. You sound very strong. The more I thought about it, the odds are actually overwhelmingly in your favour. How was your scan?

This thread is exciting at the moment- so many babies on the way! I can't wait to hear your good news.

Babytinx11 · 11/02/2015 05:44
