Last thread ended with a series of Really Good News, so let's hope this one keeps up the trend!

Brilliant news cava.

Treaclepie19 · 05/02/2015 07:57

Fantastic cava and mummy :)

silverine · 05/02/2015 08:16

Yay cava! Woop woop for good scan news! Smile

Mummytogoldie · 05/02/2015 09:59

Brilliant cava x

CommanderShepard · 05/02/2015 10:27

Hurray for cava! Flowers

Had booking in with GP and have the blue notes in my sticky paws. Not a great start to the morning as while at GP noticed a great blob of brown goo as I wiped, but I seem destined to have this semi-permanently. Unless this is the last bit? One can only hope.

Good news is everything looks ok so far. Bad news is - assuming I get to this stage - my history of pre-eclampsia puts me straight into high-risk and I'll be taking aspirin from 12 weeks. This isn't surprising (family history as well, which I wasn't told about until after DD was born - thanks mother...) but disappointing. At least I knew shortly before DD was born that I wouldn't be having any MLU or homebirths ever.

This is about to sound really perverse but I hope that if it's going to stay high-risk they put me under Silver Star at the John Radcliffe. They looked after me postnatally and were incredible. We'll see. Midwife booking in 2 weeks.

Just had call from the doctor and she's got me an appointment tomorrow for my early scan.
I should be happy, BUT, I had three vials of blood yesterday and I've had two texts saying nothing to worry about. What if the third was the one that measure pregnancy hormone and it's not within parameters and that's why I've suddenly got no problem getting the appointment.
I know it's illogical as the EPU told the midwife yesterday that she couldn't refer me without symptoms they needed doctor for that and I've been waiting for this call since yesterday.
I need to get a grip, don't I?

thesmallbear · 05/02/2015 13:24

I hope you're wrong Donna and the doctor was just being kind by getting you the appointment. FX for you.

At the weekend my mum told me she had pre-eclampsia with both me and my brother. She's never mentioned it until now so I didn't know. Do you think I should mention it to my midwife? I think pre-eclampsia is related to high blood pressure and mine's always on the lower side, so I should be ok?

CommanderShepard · 05/02/2015 13:57

Hugs for you, donna - I think it's probably coincidence but I know that's not how your mind works after a miscarriage!

thesmallbear - yes, do mention it to your midwife. I have low looooow blood pressure normally but I still got it; high bp is one of the symptoms but the other big sign is protein in your urine which I had from about 25 weeks. My blood pressure didn't skyrocket until my due date, at which point they admitted me and induced.

I believe there is a slightly elevated risk if your mother or sister had pre-eclampsia but you don't necessarily need to worry and please please don't worry just because I had it.

The stupid thing is I asked for a referral for reassurance! I need to try and stop worrying - I have a full morning of teaching tomorrow

Mslad · 05/02/2015 15:11

It's so hard to stop worrying, isn't it donna I never ever expected pregnancy to be a time of such angst! But if you asked for a reassurance scan then I'm sure it's just that.

smallbear I would mention it, I've no idea if it will have an impact on you, but it's worth them knowing everything, just in case?

Littlelady33 · 05/02/2015 17:19

Ms and Donna I wonder if it will stop at all? I was sure foolishly that after a 12 week scan I would be fine but a month later I'm very much not! Now my new milestone is 20 weeks but I imagine I'll be crazy again pretty soon afterwards

Treaclepie19 · 05/02/2015 17:43

Another worrier here.
I bet your scan is just your reassurance one donna, keep positive :)

Easy for me to say :p
I'm currently worried because I've got another bout of vaginosis and it's dangerous in pregnancy :(
Will get to the doctors but it's something I hadn't considered.

Mslad · 05/02/2015 18:00

treacle I didn't know it could be dangerous in pregnancy? Good idea to go the the doctors, hopefully they can help and put your mind at rest.

tbh, I think the worry does lesson a little after the 20 weeks scan and when you can feel movement. I don't feel quite as pessimistic/doomed as I did up to 20 weeks.....but I don't feel optimistic either. I still find many worries creeping in.

Babytinx11 · 05/02/2015 18:07

So tomorrow is assessment day Shock dont know if I am excited or terrified Hmm I do have everything crossed that this weekend will be the last before she is here.

Daft question anyone else find that standing for more than a couple of minutes makes them swell up?

KellyBird1980 · 05/02/2015 19:10

Commander - how long have you been seeing brown cm? I went to the bathroom this morning and had a small line of light brown discharge (sorry for tmi!) in my knickers but nothing when I wiped and nothing else since. Was tempted to call the EPU but read that this can happen during the first trimester so haven't done anything yet (apart from check myself every hour!). Its probably nothing but Ive not had it before so its all I can think about at the moment (Im 8 weeks today) Confused

broodylicious · 05/02/2015 19:16

Major worrier here too! I'm at 16+3 and still not told half of the people I did when we were expecting dd, due to absolute fear. Someone on the ttc after mc thread used the phrase "mc...the gift that keeps on giving" and it's absolutely true. Pre mc, and all of it's heartache and pain, I'd have been gladly blurting all my symptoms and sickness across Facebook and telling anyone that'd listen that I'm pg. Now though... Different kettle of fish. I'm praying for good results of my quad blood test and the all clear at my 20 week scan and then maybe, just maybe, I might start to enjoy it all, tell people, make the fb announcement and buy baby stuff! Maybe.

CommanderShepard · 05/02/2015 19:41

Kelley - almost three weeks! It comes and goes but I'm almost used to it now. No idea what it is.

Hmm, still waiting to relax into this pregnancy, and I'm 36+2!

Babytinx11 · 05/02/2015 20:10

I had brown cm on and off till 12 weeks. 19 weeks now and all fine so far.

Treaclepie19 · 05/02/2015 21:13

Yeah mslad, normally from the 2nd trimester. Can cause miscarriage or early labour :(
I'll go and get it sorted.

KellyBird1980 · 05/02/2015 23:00

Commander Haven't had anything more than this mornings show so fingers crossed it wasn't a prequel to anything more. Have had some dull light cramping this evening but nothing painful.

Glad to hear thesmallbear Smile Im anxious about any little pang or cramp - anything like this and I automatically think the worst.

Cant get in to see the doctor today so it's going to have to be next week.
I'm only in the first trimester so it should be ok but it's worrying.
