Last thread ended with a series of Really Good News, so let's hope this one keeps up the trend!

Right. Three lessons to get through. Lunchtime to deal with then DH is collecting me at 2:15 to head off for my scan. Trying not to worry. Failing.

HollyBen · 06/02/2015 09:11

Good luck today baby and donna

36+4 and not particularly relaxed about being pg. First day of mat leave yesterday and starting to panic about now disorganised we are. And tired. Oh so tired

gingerbreadmam · 06/02/2015 09:28

ahhh i have been in search of this.

soooo...i have a feint positive today 3 days before af is due. i got my first bfp october 2014 discovered mmc 7 november after complications emergency erpc 14 december.

i am petrified. in disbelief. shocked. overcome with emotion. how on earth am i going to get through the first three months? help!

longestlurkerever · 06/02/2015 10:01

Welcome ginger and congratulations. Your emotions sound very familiar. One day/hour/minute at a time and lots of coming on here for support is how we get through but it is not easy. Will you have an early scan? It varies between trusts but I was allowed one at 7 weeks.

tori am sure it's nothing but I am panicking slightly too after dh found a tiny bit of pink blood after we dtd (sorry tmi). Still feeling (some) kicks and I haven't seen any more (could even have been from dh) but it's hard to be relaxed about these things isn't it?

Good luck this afternoon donna and congrats on finishing work holly.

gingerbreadmam · 06/02/2015 10:08

i dont know about my trust darent think that far ahead. i dont know if id want an early scan. ive seen a lot of people have early scans then get bad news later anyway. i dont know Confused i guess once 7 weeks comes round ill be desperate for one?

i never know how the dating thing works. if u go off last af i would be 4wks on monday but if i go off when i ov i will be arund 2wks tomo. thats a big jump in scan times isnt it?

its so scary. thank you for welcoming me and i am sure i will ve on regularly for support if this does in fact proove to be a bfp. thank you Thanks

Treaclepie19 · 06/02/2015 10:29

Hi ginger :)

Your doctor will date from your last period so you'll be 4 weeks.
It's a scary time, but we're all in it together :)

longestlurkerever · 06/02/2015 10:31

Ginger the dating goes by the date of your last lmp or when your lmp would have been if you had a 28 day cycle, so by the time you get a bfp you are already nearly 4 weeks. Confusingly the digital tests don't use this system and will say eg "1-2 weeks" meaning since conception.

People on here have different thoughts about early scans. Personally I was desperate for one as I had a mmc too where the gestation was only 6 weeks and I hated the idea that I had been blissfully unaware for all those weeks - happily telling my family at Christmas etc when the baby had already died Sad. Plus, although you're right that people can have bad news later which might be even more devastating if you've had the reassurance of a positive early scan, your odds of a successful pregnancy do significantly improve once a heartbeat has been seen on the scan. My consultant told me that 8 weeks is the biggest milestone - after that only 2% of pregnancies end in mc. For me this has proved right and my two (so far!) successful pregnancies are the only 2 out of 5 that have progressed beyond 6 weeks. I know others have different danger points though.

Good luck and hang on in there. Our motto is "Today I am Pregnant!"

gingerbreadmam · 06/02/2015 10:32

really? i know u cant see 4 weeks on a scan but if u could then u would see what 4 weeks looks like on the internet if that makes sense? so if the dr says i am 7 weeks in 3 weeks time and i had a scan that day i should see what a 7 week bean is supposed to look like? i dont know why its so hard for me to get my head round ha!

Treaclepie19 · 06/02/2015 10:34

Haha, yeah that's right. They include the 2 weeks you're not actually pregnant so that it a baseline for everyone.

I had a scan at 6 weeks because I was going crazy worrying about an ectopic pregnancy. All was fine but im still worried now!

gingerbreadmam · 06/02/2015 10:35

thats reassuring. maybe i will ask for a 8 week scan if they will allow it.

its so sad i am already thinking of what route i would take this time if i had an mmc again.

feels totally different to last time when i got bfp and i couldnt wait to tell everyone. almost like for the next two months i guess i wont dare consider myself pregnant or maybe only 1 if i do get an 8 week scan.

gingerbreadmam · 06/02/2015 10:35

im glad everything is well with you treacle thats fab news!

longestlurkerever · 06/02/2015 10:44

Yes it was a bonus when I learned that too! For me it is an even more meaningless date as I have a six week cycle so when they ask for my lmp I immediately have to say "but I am not that far along!" to stop them dating it aanother 2 weeks along though the midwives' bafflement at this has sometimes got my an earlier scan).

Treaclepie19 · 06/02/2015 10:47

Thanks ginger :)

Lurker I had the opposite. They wouldn't believe that I could know i was pregnant before 4 weeks.
I have short cycles.

gingerbreadmam · 06/02/2015 10:48

thanks longest that is reassuring i might press for that to see a heartbeat and know im almost there would ease my worries a lot. only 4 weeks to go. today i an pregnant (i think Grin )

happygojo · 06/02/2015 10:51

Hi ginger! Welcome to the board, there is no judgement here and we all have our crazy moments (well I do anyway) and it is a great outlet for all the crazy.

I had a blighted ovum in September last year and I am now 13+4. Last time I found out about my MMC at an early private scan. Due to only having had one MC I was not offered an NHS early scan and despite much to-ing and fro-ing in my head I decided against another private one. I would have to go back 'to the place' and i didn't want that and I didn't want to pay £100 for bad news again.

So I waited for my 12 week scan. I must admit I was a total mess, I broke down in the scan room, but when the US lady zoomed in on my little wriggly baby with arms and legs and fingers and a stomach! (who knew!?) It was pure magic. I am so glad I waited, but each to their own. It is a bloody long 8-9 weeks from finding out to scan day.

Remember, the odds are in your favour! and today you are pregnant.

p.s Does anyone thing of the hunger games when you think of odds? whenever i read that the odds are in my favour I hear 'And may the odds be ever in your favour'.... maybe it is just me

DoctorDonnaNoble · 06/02/2015 10:55

No, I do that too - although that isn't reassuring.

gingerbreadmam · 06/02/2015 11:06

i will take each day as it comes and see how i feel closer to when i could have one. i have only had one mmc and tbh i think my trust watch their budget (i was never offered erpc for mmc until it became an emergency) i imagine seeing the scan where it looks like an actual baby is quite exciting so be good to hold off until then.

im sure ill have lots of crazy to share. i just feel like crying today.

Littlelady33 · 06/02/2015 12:12

Ginger I'm quite pro an early scan as my 7 week scan bought me some peace of mind this time. My first pregnancy ended in MMC last year and at about 7wks I had a bad feeling - my limited symptoms disappeared and although I had nothing to compare it to I was sure there was something wrong. I only started to bleed at 10wks and I kind of wish I'd found out... And this time I'm glad I saw my small bean at 7 weeks - not least of all because I felt like death from 7 to 12 wks but then when I saw how much the baby had managed to do in that time it was all forgiven!

gingerbreadmam · 06/02/2015 12:25

did u find your symptoms were different this time around?

i will see what i feel like closer to the time. might have a private scan if im worried or feel the reassurance will do me good.

KellyBird1980 · 06/02/2015 12:32

Welcome ginger Smile. This is a great place to come if you are having a wobble, all the ladies are lovely and supportive and can sympathise with your anxieties.

gingerbreadmam · 06/02/2015 12:38

i think ill be wobbly for the next two months. thank you so much.

Babytinx11 · 06/02/2015 14:40

DoctorDonnaNoble · 06/02/2015 14:56

In waiting room now. Feel sick. Boobs very soreHmm

longestlurkerever · 06/02/2015 15:00

Ooh exciting baby! Have you got everything ready?

Good luck DoctorDonna!

Littlelady33 · 06/02/2015 15:08

Exciting baby and good luck Donna! Ginger God yes the symptoms were different this time I've been sick as a dog since November and that's kind of fading to be replaced by dizziness! I'm not complaining though I'd take it 100 times worse for a healthy baby
