Last thread ended with a series of Really Good News, so let's hope this one keeps up the trend!

silver yup either next week or the week after Shock starting to feel a bit scary real now. Still not packed for the hospital so possibly still in denial a bit lol. No clue what to pack though either and knowing the way things have gone so far she'll decide to make her own way before I get my bag packed lol :).
Short cervix is not nessacarily a bad thing at this point silver theory it just means less work when baby decides to come now :) blessing in disguise maybe :) and ds was born with the cord round his neck twice they just untangled it

Treaclepie19 · 02/02/2015 17:15

I don't know how you're doing it doctordonna! Today I got up at 7, then was back asleep by 9.

Mind ill be back to work (in Reception class) soon enough.

thesmallbear · 02/02/2015 17:46

Treacle - I get 'period' pains all the time. It's a normal pregnancy thing because everything is stretching. Try not to worry!

Littlelady - I would advise against a doppler. When my midwife used one she detected my pulse first, then the placenta, then the baby's heartbeat. It's quite hard to tell the difference if you're not medically trained. You may mistake your own heartbeat for the baby's. Even if it is the baby's heartbeat, how do you know if it's normal or in distress? Much better to leave it to the professionals and concentrate on movements once you feel them.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 02/02/2015 18:15

Treacle I don't know either. I have a very varied timetable as well so I had Year 10 RSS, Year 13 GS, Year 13 English Literature, Year 7 Drama and Year 12 English Literature.
I'm totally exhausted and it looks like I've lost my car key completely. It's one of those stupid electronic card ones. We're part-exchanging tomorrow probably and it looks like I've cost us £150. Confused
DH is so cross with me. And I'm cross with myself. And I've hurt my hand trying to look down the side of the sofa.

Treaclepie19 · 02/02/2015 18:43

Thank you smallbear, and all the ladies previously. Sorry I'm such a worry wart.

Doctordonna, don't beat yourself up. You didn't lose it on purpose!

GailLondon · 02/02/2015 19:00

Baby Oscar is here! He arrived early this morning, 9lb 7, gas and air only and all over in 5hrs from the first little twinge.
I'm exhausted!

Boozle80 · 02/02/2015 19:05

Lol Doctor in the times when I was young and energetic I lost my car keys and rewired my car to start off a double light switch... Then I found my keys in the bottom of the wardrobe and people kept moving my car for a joke... It was a clapped out fiesta though...
I bought a Doppler and it's kept me sane - it was quite a pricey one and i haven't had any issues finding the hb - sometimes I've had to be a bit patient but I've always got it in the end. I just take it's the baby if it's over 140 - I haven't even contemplated trying to work out if it's in distress or not - I purely use it to check that the baby's still in there! I think if you have a completely open mind and remind yourself you might not find it and be prepared for that then it can help - that said I am lucky that the hb has always been there. I know it has panicked lots of people so needs to come with a warning!

Boozle80 · 02/02/2015 19:07

Mslad yes, indeed very good news no reason for concern, but haven't had a scan since 27 weeks (which was private) Sad
baby yes, the short cervix might indeed turn out to be a blessing a disguise, but the cord thing does freak me out... After all the MCs, I don't want to have come that far and then fall at the last hurdle, if you know what I mean.

Congratulations Gail, fantastic news!

KellyBird1980 · 02/02/2015 19:14

Treacle Im 7+5 today and have started having constant period type cramps in the past week too. Sometimes like a dull period pain and other times a really mild burning sensation is the best way to describe it. Its terrifying me no end (checking my knickers hourly tmi!) but I didn't have these pains with my MMC so I try to calm myself by thinking that maybe this is normal and not feeling anything the first time wasn't.

After avoiding it for as long as possible I booked my initial Drs appt for next week. Like many of you ladies Im also dreading my first scan and could burst in to tears just thinking about it - part of me is desperate to get to the 12 week mark while the other part is dreading it because of the scan!

KellyBird1980 · 02/02/2015 19:15
