mummy I don't really know much about the blood levels, so sorry I can't be of much help, but I would have tended to think that higher is better than lower figures?

broody hang on in there. waiting for scans is awful at any time, but especially at such painful dates. i remember getting through it by clinging to the thought that the likelihood of history repeating itself in the same way must be rare?

I had my 21 week scan this morning. Despite being a nervous wreck for the past week, and feeling complete doom - everything is alright! I've never been so glad to hear the words 'normal' and 'average' so much. We're team pink - dp and I are over the moon. I'm hoping that I might start to relax a little at this point.

Babytinx11 · 07/01/2015 15:59

Awesome to see good news today :)
mummy I had really high hcg levels with DS and he was twins only carried him to term though lost the other very early so I would say that your either further on than you thought or there is more than one either way I don't think its anything to worry about :)

ms awesome scan news :)

I had high levels with dd, after an initially slow start. Dr said maybe twins but no, was just one of those things.

longestlurkerever · 07/01/2015 16:28

Ooh great news mslad. Congratulations! I have forgotten. Is this dc1 for you? Xx

Mslad · 07/01/2015 16:40

Thanks ladies! Yes longest this is our first. I feel quite emotional tonight, in a good way. It's the first time dp and I have talked positively about having a baby

charlieis30 · 07/01/2015 18:13

mslad yay! How exciting!

broody we're almost gestation twins... my 12w scan is next Thursday (so so far away!) and I should be at 12.4. Dreading/can't wait. DH will be away so I'm trying to decide whether to ask a friend to come with me for support. I feel a bit guilty asking someone to take time off work for something that will probably be totally fine.

Thanks for the kind words yesterday ladies. It was a tough day and I'm still feeling v anxious and stressy today, expect it to last until my scan tbh. Feeling v sick so taking that as a good sign but like everyone says, it's horrid that we have to worry so much.

Mslad · 08/01/2015 08:56

Thinking of you Tori I've been in your situation the past few weeks, extremely anxious about my scan, and concerned about not feeling much movement. It was only really about 20+5 that I thought I was sure I felt some movement. But still not much at all, especially compard to what others were reporting. Interestingly, at my scan yesterday, baby was moving around constantly, very active & I couldn't feel a thing. My sonographer said there was still a lot of space in my uterus, so I shouldn't worry. Hold tight till your scan, the odds really are in your favour that everything will be alright.

charlieis30 · 08/01/2015 10:08

Morning all! 12w scan in 1 week, not sure how I'm going to last that long! Morning sickness has started tapering off in last 24h which makes me both relieved and terrified. Dizziness and tiredness still there with a vengeance.

Littlelady33 · 08/01/2015 10:16

Ah Charlie you're also in the 12week scan next week club! I'm 12weeks today but abroad with in-laws. Scan Tuesday and can't believe how long Tuesday is taking to come around... My sickness too comes and goes and I'm thrilled when I feel nauseous. I do wonder when -if- the worry will stop

charlieis30 · 08/01/2015 11:02

There are definitely a few of us! I was lucky, I got a quickie scan at my booking in at 10w to check HB was still there, I'm so paranoid after 2 MCs that the next time it might have stopped. I just feel completely incapable of doing this again. Trying to accept that my thoughts are probably normal and a way of trying to "prepare" myself for the possibility of a MC, even though every scan I've had this pregnancy has been totally fine. I just can't help waiting for the other shoe to drop... DH will be abroad when I get scanned, trying to decide whether just to man up and go on my own or find a friend who doesn't mind taking an afternoon off work to go with me!

Can anyone tell me what the 12w scan entails? I know they check the neck measurement for downs but what else is different to a normal reassurance scan? I've never got this far before.

Sickness usually eases off around 12 weeks Smile Good luck for your scan ladies!

My midwife is coming to book me in at 12pm then scan on Sunday. I'm getting more and more anxious as it gets closer. Not getting any stretching pains like I usually do but other than that still have sickness, tiredness etc is still there. Just don't see how I can have massive cramps at this stage during 4 pregnancies then nothing this time if everything is growing how it should be.

Mslad · 08/01/2015 11:12

Charlie from my experience, the 12 week scan is quite quick. Check for heartbeat, take a few measurements of baby, including the neck measurement, and that was it.

so sorry to hear you and so many others are in the horrible week before 12 week scan wait. I remember being a bit of a teary mess before my last 12 week scan (and my 21 week scan, tbh). time drags, and yet, it does pass and you'll get there. for me, I started banning any thing baby related for the weekends. No mn, no talking or thinking about baby, I planned some nice walks, or lunches/films with dp, read a book to occupy my mind. It's sad that we have to do things like that, but I found it helped, and the time passed a little quicker.

Phryn · 08/01/2015 11:40

Good luck for the upcoming scans ladies! I'm having my 20 week scan on the 20th and really looking forward to it. There's a bit of dread in the pit of my stomach that it might show something wrong that I'm trying to ignore. All has been well so far so let's hope it stays that way.

I'm glad you said that sunbathing - I think know I'll be v teary and emotional when I'm waiting for my 12 week scan and so wondered if I should say to the sonographer as soon as I get in that I'm absolutely friggin terrified. I will completely break down if I'm called into the same scan room I was in last time when she confirmed I'd mc - even before I get on the bed.
I'm a total mess ladies. I'm shouty and snappy with dd, which is most unlike me as we practice gentle/natural/attachment parenting and so being calm and understanding and patient is at my v core. I'm sure it's pre scan anxiety that's doing it, rather than anything else (maybe also stress from falling out with my folks and sister on New Year's Day but maybe not). I hate it though SadSad
