Congratulations moomin Grin

How lovely of your DH Gail and how exciting that you get to start your maternity leave soon Smile

Well I am back from the hospital. The chance of Down's is 1/80. They took my bloods for the Harmony test there and then. I thought I'd have to go to a private clinic to get it done, but they do it at the hospital (not on the NHS though it's private £500). Feeling much calmer. Although it's a higher than average risk, I think it still works out at about 98% likely not to have Down's. I'm sure i'll get stressed again close to the result date though!

ignominious · 05/01/2015 14:25

Small bear hope the harmony comes back clear

Rikalaily · 05/01/2015 15:06

Gah haven't been on again! Had family staying over New Year. Now 8+1 from LMP (was CP) and have a private reassurance scan booked for Sunday 11th when I should be 9w. MW is coming to book me in on Thursday.

Hope everyone is well x

longestlurkerever · 05/01/2015 15:12

smallbear those sound like good odds. Bet you wish they had told you that over the phone. Glad the bloods have been taken. Good luck x

Threesocks · 05/01/2015 15:52

Hi ladies - hope you are all well - I hope its ok to stick a toe into the 'p' waters.

I have one dd (20mths), has a previous m/c at 8 weeks (May2012) and a mmc & ERPC in July 2014 at 14 weeks (baby died at 10.5 weeks) - I am currently 4+2 and completely terrified. I am going to see my GP later to get the ball rolling ....

I am hoping that they will do an early scan otherwise I think I will pay for a private one ... not sure I can stand the limbo...

happygojo · 05/01/2015 15:55

smallbear glad you feel calmer, how long do you wait for the results?

I am having a bit of an internal battle... To early scan or not. I had an early scan last time and it broke my heart, it is the only place locally that does early scans and they cost £100. I am 8 weeks today. I am not sure I can face the 'scene of the heartbreak'. Has anyone got any advice?

Smallbear those stats sound good, thinking of you and hoping the news stays positive for you Smile
Hapoygojo I felt the same and almost walked out of the room at my early scan - I'm now approaching my 12 week but dreading it.
It's a difficult call - an early good scan is no guarantee but for me it took some of the stress away, and for my health and my sanity I thought it was worth it. I was lucky to not have to pay but more importantly to get it done in a good EPU - the private clinics I tried before really didn't feel very, well, medical somehow! If you feel it will allow you to relax a little id say it might be worthwhile.

Threesocks · 05/01/2015 17:34

I'm pleased to say that the GP was great. She picked up the phone there and then to the EPU and I am booked in for an early scan on 26/1.

For me the early scan breaks up the waiting time a bit, although it gives no guarantee as I found out last time (I had a healthy 8 weeks private scan). I personally still think it's worth it for me and the risk of mc is lower once you have seen a heartbeat, but I know it isn't for everyone.

thesmallbear · 05/01/2015 17:47

Thanks all. Two week wait for the results.

happygojo - I was dreading going back to EPU for a scan - I didn't really want to go back to the place with all the bad memories. It was actually fine though and luckily I got a better result second time round. I can understand your quandary though Flowers

MrsRuby · 05/01/2015 18:08

Hope it's ok to join in on here. I have 2 sons aged 8 & 5, lost twins at 22 was in 2012 and 2 Mcs at 8 weeks since. Now 23 wks another boy.
Had another reassurance scan today which was nice (after a bit of an uncontrollable meltdown at 20 week scan)
My children know about the pregnancy now and are very happy but after my scan today my 8 yr old asked if the baby was going to make it which broke my heart a bit. Trying to keep positive - so far so good.

Littlelady33 · 05/01/2015 18:45

Welcome MrsRuby, here's to hopefully a happy and uneventful pregnancy. I spent the morning bemoaning my lack of sickness and the afternoon feeling horrendously nauseous and repulsed by food. I'm many things at the moment but consistent isn't one of them!

charlieis30 · 05/01/2015 19:13

Hospital called today to see if I wanted to bring 12w scan fwd to sat as it's currently scheduled for next week when my DH will be away. Unfort he leaves Sat arvo so would still miss it, cue me having mini teary breakdown. Had a good scan last week 10w so really should try to relax a bit but argh it's all so hard! Will go to 12w scan alone, gulp.

Told everyone in the office today as I'm going to miss some work stuff over the next few weeks and one of the girls said "oh don't you normally wait until 12w?" Um thanks for that, I had no idea and having had 2 mcs hasn't at all given me the best idea of when I feel comfortable telling people *sarcasm Shock Honestly some people! She knew about both mcs so really should have known better...

I am anxiously waiting for 9pm as this is the time and day I miscarried last pregnancy at exactly 5 weeks, I know I am being irrational but can't help it. Nurse at GPS office took bloods today but had no idea what the hormone level should be, I ring up for results Wednesday, does anyone know whereabouts hormone level should be at 5 weeks?

charlieis30 · 05/01/2015 20:25

goldie understandable, but do try to relax... the chance of something hapoening at the exact same time is infintesimal.

Re the bloods, it's more that they should double every 48h, so they should be taking two sets of bloods not one. You can google what tge numbers should be but it's a pretty broad range, so not that helpful, the important thing is that they double to themselves

Mummytogoldie · 05/01/2015 20:49

I said about repeating them in 48 hours but the nurse didn't have a clue and said the gp had only asked for 1 test. I have a scan on Monday so hopefully that will ease my mind a bit. I just want my hcg levels as I only had a miscarriage on the 1st of December and even though the urine pregnancy test they did at the hospital was negative at this time my hcg was 7, I am scared stiff that in some way the urine test was wrong at the hospital and the positive tests I am having now are an old pregnancy. :(

Babytinx11 · 05/01/2015 21:00

Got everything crossed for you mummytogoldie

blankfornames · 05/01/2015 22:35

Mummytogoldie, hope that 9.00 came and went uneventfully for you. Thinking of you.

Can i ask how many of you got the flu jab? Because of my recent pneumonia, the hospital recommended that I get both the pneumonia and flu jab but when I went to book an appointment with my GP today, he said he was reluctant to give it to me seeing as I only have 6 weeks left. The flu jab takes 3 weeks to kick in also. Now I don't know what to do. I'm on maternity leave so its not like Im around thevschool children anymore.
What's the general view out there?
Cheers!

Mummytogoldie · 05/01/2015 22:44

Well it's past 9 pm so I am further on in this pregnancy than the last one x
