Still no sickness or nausea here. I also had a funny feeling on my left hand side, a bit higher up from my ovary, which is a huge concern as that is the pain I had in the pg I mc, coupled with the sickness vanishing. It's my birthday tomorrow so I don't really want to do anything about it then but if I'm still not sick and have this pain again, I shall be going to bang down epu' door for an emergency scan on Monday.

broodylicious · 27/12/2014 17:02

Woah!! V pleased to announce was violently sick about an hour ago. Roast turkey and stuffing, plus trifle....bleurgh!! Not at all nice tasting but I was smiling throughoutWink

thesmallbear · 27/12/2014 17:03

I know it's weird to congratulate someone for being sick - but congrats Xmas Wink

welcome envious I recognise you from other threads. My 2cents is that if you can bear to, you should wait until 8w for a reassurance scan. By then the HB should be visible so you don't have the "ok I can't see the HB but it might just not have started yet or there might be a problem" thing. Although on this pregnancy (#3 after 2mcs) I freaked out at 5.5 and made my DH take me to the EPU for an emergency scan after pretty bad cramping on one side, and we did actually see a tiny HB flickering away at that point. It's very unusual though, that early.

Welcome enviousSmile big congrats. So pleased for you. Such a fab time to have got your bfp on Christmas Day too!! Re early scans - I'm in the No but would really love one really Camp. I've seen it so many times in my year or so on here where ladies have had scans at 6, 8, 10 weeks and everything has been super duper, only to have bad news at 12 weeks nhs scan. I know why we have them and after my mc and falling pg, I've considered paying the money on several occasions but as my mw said a few weeks back, at this early stage, they're only as good as the time you're with the sonographer because things can change quickly. I sound like a right old bringer of doom but they're my thoughts nonetheless. I am, however, also in the "whatever gets you through" school so if you have the money and would worry less by having an early scan or three, ignore misery guts broodylicious and go for it!Smile

Phryn · 27/12/2014 18:39

Cuppa - lovely to hear from you and to hear how well your little one is doing.

Welcome new people!

Envious I'm so very chuffed to see you here. What a wonderful Christmas present!

I conceived in the WTF cycle and am fine at 17 weeks. Western medicine doesn't have a problem (apart from dating) to get pregnant immediately following a mc. Eastern medicine views it as better to wait a few cycles to allow your system to re balance - but my acupuncturist didn't seem too worried when I told her. There's some evidence of increased fertility immediately following a mc - perhaps linked to elevated progesterone levels (the sticky hormone) due to the previous pregnancy.

With regard to early scans I think that it's hard as Broody says because you can see a hb and still have a bad outcome. My DH and I decided that even knowing this we really wanted to know it was looking okay so we booked a scan for the weekend between 8 and 9 weeks. We knew that if it all looked okay and we saw the hb we'd have a less than 2% chance of miscarriage which felt like good odds to us. The wait from the positive test to the 12 week scan felt too long to cope with.

Good luck in the waiting! This thread has been fantastic in helping me manage my anxiety! Smile

longestlurkerever · 27/12/2014 19:07

I disagree that an early scan is a waste of time. Your odds improve considerably after seeing a hb and having been through 2 mmcs I would definitely prefer to know sooner rather than later even if it is bad news. in fact greater antenatal care can even improve your chances of a successful pregnancy after recurrent losses though i dont really understand how. I agree that 7 or 8 weeks is best though you might get one on the nhs depending on your trust's policy. Congratulations and good luvk!

Lovely to hear from you cuppa! Hone at last after a 5 hour journey. Have been a bit worried about reduced movement tge ladt few dsys but just had a few good kicks as I collapsed on the sofa.

Envious I agree with sunbathing that so long as you go in with a realistic expectation then an early scan can break up a long wait, and it's really up to the individual. Personally I went for one this time at 7 weeks because my earlier MMC happened at 10 weeks but the baby had stopped growing at 6- so I needed a bit of reassurance. This time has been very different with sickness etc but I'm still quite worried on a daily basis now at ten weeks and although the early heartbeat is a great thing to see as broody says it really doesn't mean you're home and dry sadly

thesmallbear · 27/12/2014 21:40

I agree that a reassurance scan is worth the money. I had medical management for my MMC at 10 weeks, but the baby never developed properly and there was not a lot to see on the screen at any of my three scans. This time I booked a private scan at eight weeks and it was a big comfort to see the baby measuring the correct size and with a heartbeat. I decided to book the scan for eight weeks as if you get a heartbeat at that stage, the chance of the pregnancy continuing is 98%. I never got a heartbeat last time, so seeing one this time was a help to me.

I have my 12 week scan on Monday, so hopefully all will still be ok.

Mummytogoldie · 27/12/2014 21:51

Hi looking for help and advice. I have also posted in ttc after miscarriage cos not really sure which to put it on . I am very confused. I started bleeding 1st December, I was 5 weeks pregnant, went to hospital who did 2 negative pregnancy tests so said I had miscarried, they tooky bloods and they were 19, 48 hours later my bloods were 4. I bled for 7 days so till the 8th December. I thought I would have had a period by now so did a test tonight and got a strong positive!!! Surely I can't be pregnant again this quick????

Hey all - sorry been a bit quiet. Can I add my stats as dropped off the list!

Brummiegirl15, 38, no dc, 2 mc's May 14 @ 5 weeks and August 14 @ 9 weeks with ERPC

Am currently 8+1 so approaching the dreaded 9 week milestone. But I did have a NHS reassurance scan at 6+5 and saw a hb flickering away :-)

Got the 2nd follow up scan on NYE so keeping everything crossed. Hopefully the aspirin seems to be working..

daisysunshine2 · 28/12/2014 08:27

Can I Add my stats too please :) Dainsysunshine, 23, no dc, TTC 14 months, 1mc sept '14. Currently 7+6 EDD 10/08/2015

Re early scans, I found it helped me so much to see a baby measuring correct for the dates and a little heartbeat, I know things can go wrong still but for me I know I can get to that point! I think it's whatever makes you feel reassured and comfortable :) I had mine at 7 weeks

Brummiegirl15 · 28/12/2014 08:59

Sorry forgot my EDD!! 7th August!!!

silverine · 28/12/2014 12:34

Happy birthday broody Xmas Smile

silverine · 28/12/2014 18:04

Happy birthday broody! May all your wishes come true! Thanks Have added you to my list and will update on here in a bit.

baby hugs! It's unsettling when they go quiet like that, isn't it. Mine's moving less now (31 weeks tomorrow), but is still moving a bit... so not sure what to make of it. I went to the hospital once for a listen, but then I had had no movement at all all day. Now there is some movement, but a bit less and maybe weaker... Confused Don't want to panic too much, my next appt with MW is Wednesday. Anyone else had fewer movements as pregnancy progresses?
