This is my second baby (DD has just turned 2) and I'm finding these last few weeks a real drag! I'm tired, my back hurts and I just want to get on with it.

Anyone else fancy a moan? Blush

Luckily wasn't working(full-time mature student), so could pretty much stay at home for most of pregnancy. Otherwise would be moaning 28 weeks earlier. The exhaustion with this (2nd) pregnancy has been off the scale. I can't imagine wanting one more after this experience. I want to sleep ALL THE TIME. I wake up with random pains and cramps. Plus I have this stupid cough that makes me vomit and GP can't help me much.
I'm so glad my DS is 9, not 2-3. I'd be in mental institution by now.
This little girl better be grateful for all my suffering(probably won't be though Grin ).

RumAppleGinger · 21/11/2014 18:04

She'll probably think she's the centre of the universe Wink.

Second time round for me too. Last time worked until 38 weeks, this time was only working three days and by week 30 totally regretting my decision to work to 37 weeks. Exhaustion has destroyed me and DS1 (4 today) hasn't helped!

EstRusMum · 21/11/2014 18:36

Haha, considering what her daddy is like, it wouldn't be a surprise. Grin
DS went to British Museum trip today and school specifically said that every kid should get £5 tops for a giftshop. My OH gave him a tenner(didn't have a smaller money), DS spent it all(wooden sword and fridge magnet) and apparently other kids were complaining that he got more money. Now I feel bad. And stupid for feeling bad. It's like feeling bad for being happy for my kid.
Anyway, I'm blaming this feeling on pregnancy. I wouldn't care about other kids' complaints before(sorry for saying it), but now I'm all so overly sensitive and guilty. And annoyed because of that. ConfusedAngry
I can't wait till she's out. I can't even be excited over Christmas. Roll on January.

RumAppleGinger · 22/11/2014 14:27

Tricia how is it going?

TriciaMcM · 22/11/2014 18:31

Hi Rum, DS born yesterday at 16.00, was induced at 10ish- they broke my waters instead of pessary/gel & then put me on the drip a few hours later when things weren't moving quickly enough. Induction was fine, for anyone else worried about it... Got an epidural eventually a little later than I'd have liked as anesthetist wasn't given message Hmm, and baby arrived pretty quickly after that. Went from 3cm to baby in 45mins, coincidentally v shortly after epidural kicked in, though MW/doc wondered if body relaxing because agony was over helped things along. Epidural was wonderful- could still feel contractions and urge to push, they were just dulled.

Baby was 8lb8, so a good size for short and small framed me! Fed immediately and has barely stopped to sleep since.

Was so relieved induction was fine, I think we hear about the horror stories here more than the ones that are positive. Obstet had said he wouldn't induce unless he was happy with my exam & thought my body was ready, but I could still decide to leave nature take its course. Very glad I went with his call as otherwise would probably have ended up with a few more days anxiety first. Everything was calm, staff were lovely (though can't wait to go home shortly!)

Good luck, will be keeping an eye to see how things are going here Flowers

RumAppleGinger · 22/11/2014 18:36

Wonderful! Congratulations. So glad everything went smoothly for you. Having twitches so far this evening, will see if they develope but not optimistic!

EstRusMum · 22/11/2014 20:39

Oh, this is great. Congratulations. Flowers

excitedforbaba · 22/11/2014 23:19

Est I had a stay at home pregnancy also but mine was due to hyperemisis. Honestly admire anyone working up as long as they can even a supermarket shop had me wrecked after 30 odd weeks!

Tricia glad to hear the induction process wasn't horrendous for u, I'm still terrified of the thought of it on Tue but more so the possibility of it fails having to have a section!

EstRusMum · 23/11/2014 00:18

I know. It's horrible. Sometimes I see pregnant ladies working in the shops at the till(for example local Deichmann) and really can't understand how they do it. Standing all day long...
I just packed baby stuff for hospital and I can barely breath now. And I haven't even finished. My OH is shocked how much stuff I'm taking. Looks at me like I'm some sort of crazy. I don't think he understands that baby will come out naked and will need clothes for 3-4 days at the hospital. Oh well... He'll see.
Should I take the dummy to the hospital? And do I need to sterilise it at home or they can do it in there? Last time I had a baby in Estonia and they provided all the first clothes, nappies and dummy.
I know in here they don't provide anything, but can they sterilise stuff for me?

excitedforbaba · 23/11/2014 01:01

Est I look like I'm moving into the hospital with the amount of stuff I have packed! I actually sorted it all out again at 4am the other morning to pack extra bits for induction then in case I need a section and stay longer!

Iv packed dummies I'm not sure if the hospital will steralise them but you can get a little travel dummy steralising kit thing I think it's a Milton one that would be handy for hospital and out & about after baby arrives.

excitedforbaba · 23/11/2014 01:02

Est I can't do a link as I'm on my phone but this is a picture of the dummy Steraliser in mother care

39 weeks today! Anyone want to join me in the last slog?
EstRusMum · 23/11/2014 08:30

excited thank you. That is actually perfect for me, although it would probably be one of those things that end up on people's lists of what they didn't need/use for a baby. Smile
Just like a nappy wrapper (I have it) and nappy stacker (I was thinking of sewing one).

TriciaMcM · 23/11/2014 19:52

Thanks all!
Any more news? Rum, did those twinges turn into anything?

RumAppleGinger · 23/11/2014 20:01

Sadly not Tricia, still waiting it out. I now have permanent "bitch face syndrome" I'm so fed up!

Are you home yet?

TriciaMcM · 24/11/2014 14:24

Yes, home late Sat evening thankfully. I prefer having dh around at night time, hospitals are very isolating & lonely at night. Baby doing great, trying to balance giving his big sister enough attention at the moment as she's a bit put out at the teeny intruder.

Hopefully it'll be soon! Good luck!

redexpat · 25/11/2014 08:38

Nice to see so many babies have arrived. I wish mine was one of them. Had several 3 year olds pat my tummy, ask questions this morning at nursery. Am 41 wks today. My nesting instinct has returned with a vengeance which is useful but tiring.

carlene1987 · 25/11/2014 10:14

Hi all,

Can I join?

I'm 37+6 today and getting rather fed up. This will be my first child and although my pregnancy has been straight forward and uneventful, the last few weeks have been complicated by signs of preeclampsia. This would be worrying enough if it wasn't for my lax midwife who has a pretty unprofessional attitude and usually squeezes a few "F words" into each appointment. Nice!

I'm kind of stuck in a bit of a pickle where I don't know where I stand. I've had no blood tests to confirm or deny PE even though my last few appointments have shown high BP, protein in my urine, a persistent headache and slight swelling in my feet. I feel like I'm battling my CMW to support me. All she has said is that if symptoms persist or worsen they'd likely induce me early. Symptoms have persisted for weeks and nothing has been done. I'd much rather not be induced but would like to know what is actually going on so I'm not left panicking and symptom spotting every day. Sorry for the super rant! Has anyone else had any issues with this please?

JaxPat · 25/11/2014 14:49

Can I join too? 38 + 1 with first baby. Just had 38 week midwife appointment, baby's head is 3/5 palpable and in good position for labour. Just want him to start making a move now - ready to meet the little guy! Feeling good otherwise, just started 3rd week of maternity leave.

JaxPat · 25/11/2014 15:01

When is your next appointment carlene? If it's not for a few weeks and the signs are still there I would maybe make an appointment with your GP or and earlier one with your MW and tell them you want the blood tests, it's your and your babys health and if you are concerned don't let the midwife make those important decisions for you. My last appointment I had signs of GD in my urine, midwife did not seem too concerned which was annoying but it has now cleared up. Good luck - I hope all turns out okay.

carlene1987 · 25/11/2014 20:11

Hi JaxPat,

Thanks for your reply and glad to hear all went OK at your appointment today. I'm with you on wanting baby to start making an entrance. 2 (or 4!) more weeks seems like a life time but I know babies come when they want to.

My next appointment with MW is on Friday but after feeling so rough today I decided to ring her. My BP was through the roof (130/96) so she sent me to MAU to be checked and when I got there my BP was fine at 117/84 so they sent me home. I asked about a blood test to confirm/deny PE and they said they wouldn't do 1 with BP as good as that. She said I may have a bug or something. This whole yoyo thing is doing my head in! I just hope the next 2 weeks go over fast and my BP behaves itself.

Reading about all of these babies making their arrivals is lovely. Congrats to all the ladies who have their bundles and best of luck to those still waiting :)

RumAppleGinger · 26/11/2014 00:04

Hi new people! Hope you all coping ok with your pregnancies.

I had my very own new person tonight! DS2 arrived just before 9pm and is utterly gorgeous. I was 41 weeks so thoroughly fed up and really feel for all you who are still waiting. Very quick and straightforward labour if that gives any of you hope to cling to!

redexpat · 26/11/2014 09:00

Congrats Rum

JaxPat · 26/11/2014 09:18

Congrats Rum! Glad it all went well.

Who is due next?

superbfairywren · 26/11/2014 14:05

Carlene, I have had high bp issues for the last few weeks, am now 39weeks. I have been told if i have pain in ribs/at the top of bump, have a persistent headache, any visual disturbance or swelling in the face to ring the hospital and they will do more tests. I have been in twice now for pet bloods and extra monitoring due to high bp, 160/90 and 140/100 but no protein in urine.
I thought that with any high bp and protein in urine they would be more careful but I guess hospitals and midwives vary. Its really good that your bp had gone down to a normal level so it might just have been a blip. If I were you I would just keep an eye out for any further symptoms and make sure to be proactive about it with your midwife if she is being vague and blase still.

TriciaMcM · 26/11/2014 20:00

Well done Rum! Delighted it went so smoothly for you as well, worth the wait.

Good luck to everyone else still waiting, you do get there in the end, though it can feel like a looong time!!
