This is my second baby (DD has just turned 2) and I'm finding these last few weeks a real drag! I'm tired, my back hurts and I just want to get on with it.

Anyone else fancy a moan? Blush

mampam · 04/11/2014 10:45

Hi can I join?

I'm 38+1 with number 4 and am booked in for a ELCS next Friday (14th).

Whenwillwe I have only ever had large babies (9lb 4oz, 10lb 14oz, 9lb 11oz) so bypass the newborn stage and I'll be packing 0-3 clothes and size 2 nappies in my hospital bag!! Grin

I know there is no chance of going into labour before next week. I'm in absolute agony at night. My hips and my legs are so painful, moving from one side to another is a nightmare and agonising. The thought of having to go another 10 days just makes me want to cry even though I have people telling me all the time "it's not long now".........which makes me want to scream if I'm honest!!

RumAppleGinger · 04/11/2014 11:34

I'm so sick of hearing that expression too mampam, especially when it's accompanied with a hand touching my bump.

I've just spent the last hour getting a head, neck, back and shoulder massage. I'm so fucking zen right now, it's the best £40 I've spent in the last eight months.

DS in childcare for the rest of the day and midwife appointment this afternoon, lazy day on the cards.

DuckandCat · 04/11/2014 12:26

RumApple a massage sounds lovely!

DD is also at nursery today (will be dropping her hours soon now I'm on maternity leave) and my Mum is picking her up for me! So lazy day here too.
This thread has made me want to go back through my hospital bag, plus I bought a few snacks while in town earlier that I want to add. Then I'm going to set-up the Moses basket.

These are the highlights of my day Hmm

I haven't even packed my bag yet!!!!! Blush

I know I'm on number 4 but I just cannot for the life of me think what on earth I am supposed to pack for the baby Hmm with a C-section I'll be in hospital for 2 days maximum all being well.
Do you take wet wipes or cotton wool?
How many sleep suits/vests?
How many nappies?
What else?

purplemunkey · 04/11/2014 13:03

It's my first mampam so I've followed a list rather than going by any actual experience. List includes -

cotton wool
2 x sleepsuits
2 x vests
1 pair leggings
1 jacket/cardy
1 booties
2 x hats
1 pack nappies
1 blanket

I'm sure more experienced mums can advise better though!

I've had my third sweep at over 41 weeks this morning. Nothing happening yet. Apparently I have 'the most favourable cervix ever' and all I need is for contractions to start. This is so tedious, I feel like everyone (including me) is waiting for my body to do something that it just won't do.

MumaBex · 04/11/2014 20:56

I packed grows, vests, cardi, snowsuit type thing, hats, nappies, wipes, blanket, breast pads, maternity pads, toiletries, pjs, pants, bras, swimsuit (in case I get to use the pool, snacks, home clothes and a book. Also got a list of things to take last minute, tens machine, mat notes, phone charger and car seat.
If you do end up forgetting something your partner can always go and get things and they have spare cotton wool etc on the ward (normally)

Elletorrito · 04/11/2014 21:17

Hi can I join? 37+4 and due for c section at 39 weeks. Only just started thinking about packing, been more concerned with buying and wrapping Christmas presents! Oh and sorting all household admin so the decks are clear for the next couple of months

Packing multiple nighties forme and sleep suits for baby. Tens machine for me in case pain killers afterwards don't work, like last time also in case I go into labour early. Need to locate a sports bottle for water consumption. Like mumabex I'm fairly relaxed because dh can fetch and carry extras, but we are lucky to live about 20 minutes from the hospital.

ImBrian · 04/11/2014 21:19

I'm 37 weeks tomorrow, hips and back are killing and I can't sleep. Maternity leave doesn't start for another 2 1/2 weeks and I'm starting to wonder if holding on till the end was such a good idea!

MumaBex · 04/11/2014 21:36

Pillows ImBrian. I can't sleep without my v shaped one. Probably the best investment I made. I also have a hot bath every night to try and help with the aches before getting into bed. Think one of the other mums to be got it right too and treat yourself to a massage.

Elletorrito · 04/11/2014 21:49

Pillows seconded. I have about 6 and practically sleep sitting up.

DuckandCat · 05/11/2014 17:33

Hello, how's everyone doing?

Any babies yet?

OP posts:
BumpOct2014 · 05/11/2014 17:53

Nope Sad
Been at hospital since 10am this morning and cervix was looking good then. Just waiting for midwife to come back and re examine me and find out if/how things are progressing.

Think it's gonna be a long night.

DuckandCat · 05/11/2014 18:11

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long Bump!
Why are you at the hospital? Are you being induced?

OP posts:
RumAppleGinger · 05/11/2014 19:37

Hope things start to progress for you bump.

Thought maybe I was on my way today too until I let out a massive fart and realised it was just trapped wind. Pregnancy really is a beautiful thing huh?!

BumpOct2014 · 05/11/2014 20:14

Yeah DuckandCat - being induced. Just had a second tablet 'inserted' and next check at 12:30pm.

Hubby having to go home soon Sad until the morning (unless something happens) so long, lonely night for me.

On the plus side, we should meet baby tomorrow Grin

BumpOct2014 · 05/11/2014 20:16

Oh yes RumAppleGinger, pregnancy is glamorous!

mampam · 05/11/2014 20:24

Good luck Bump hope it all starts soon so DH doesn't have to go home.

Thank you all for the advice on what to pack in my hospital bag. Looks like I'll be packing sooner rather than later.......hospital rang this afternoon and want to bring my ELCS forward to Monday instead of next Friday :D
I am so happy, I'm finding nights agony as my hips are sooooo painful and they don't seem to be much better during the day either.

I had to fast walk run to the end of our drive earlier as DD's school bus turned up early, I could barely walk afterwards, it was like someone had shoved a melon between my legs Hmm

Rum I've been trumping like a real trooper for the last few days, better out than in I guess Grin

TriciaMcM · 05/11/2014 20:33

Feeling ridiculously sorry for myself this evening for no good reason. Just emotional & cranky & fed up, & actually feeling kind of flu-y. Baby still doing acrobatics & no labour like twinges or anything, but still feeling odd. 39+1 today, so unlikely anything happening.

Sorry for the moan Blush

MumaBex · 05/11/2014 20:39

Everyone is allowed a moan TriciaMcM. We all know how you feel.
Fingers crossed for you Bump . Hopefully your little one will be popping out sooner rather than later.
Keep having to apologise to everyone for the wind too. It just seems to pop out without any warning most of the time.
No movement here on the labour front. No BH or anything. DS said that i should stop moaning as baby will come out on the 10th as thats when he/she is due to come. Gotta love him.

BumpOct2014 · 05/11/2014 20:46

Thanks guys - unfortunately hubby has just had to go so I'm alone until something happens.

MumaBex I was exactly the same in the run up to my due date 27/10 and hubby just kept saying little one will appear when they are ready.
STILL don't seem to be ready to appear!

DuckandCat · 05/11/2014 21:02

Mums ex you are due the same day as me. I'm not feeling particularly hopeful that baby will be here on time though.

Good luck Bump! Looks like you'll be our thread's first birth not jealous-at-all Envy

DuckandCat · 05/11/2014 21:03

Mums ex? MumaBex*

OP posts:
MumaBex · 05/11/2014 21:15

Feel for you Bump, big hugs. That's crap having to sit there on your tod just waiting for things to happen/pain to start with no support. As soon as something starts get him back.
Don't you get sick of people saying it will happen soon?! easy enough for them to say as they aren't the ones with something the size of a watermelon pressing down between their legs.
Well DuckandCat I don't feel like its going to happen anytime soon and will be going over. You'll have to keep me posted on how your getting on (If you start before me i will be totally envious [Envy]. Do you know what your having BTW? X

DuckandCat · 05/11/2014 22:05

I'm having a boy Smile

What is everyone else having?

OP posts:
BumpOct2014 · 05/11/2014 22:14

No idea as wanted to keep it a surprise. Everyone seems to think its a boy though, other than my dad who's saying a girl.
Must be a boy - being too lazy lol
