Hi ladies just wondering if anyone would like to join me on the final countdown from 30 weeks to newborn?!

I see there is another thread on here but the ladies are all at the end of their journey now, so was hoping to find some other mamas-to-be to natter with over the final stretch...!

Thanks guys, had a pretty tough time.

Went in Saturday and was given the pessary to start things off. It was very painful but things looked good and I was contracting quite strong every 2 - 3 minutes. This carried on and after a few hours I was examined, they said I was 2 cm but due to the regularity of the contractions they could not give me another pessary so could offer me a sweep. I had a sweep and it hurt then all contractions stopped. I went to bed thinking they might pick up at some point. I slept about 2 hours. Woke up early the next day for ctg. Had examination and still only 2cm.

Was then sent to labor ward for arm, at this point in time I thought this would be the most physically painful thing I could ever experience... If only I knew.

After 5-6 hours there was no sign of contractions so was told I need the drip and should have the epi. Got both these sorted. My blood pressure then started to drop and I became really quite ill. They gave me some meds and that sorted it.

Then the epidural didn't work and the anethatist had gone to theatre so managed the contractions alone.

I was then examined around 3am this morning and told I was at 10 cm. midwife said he feels like a big baby and that he mAy get stuck, if this happens she will press the emergency button.

Was pushing and she said I was doing well when all of a sudden the emergency button was pulled and all these people came running in. Before I knew it I was in stirrups and had two cuts made BlushBlush ds was then pulled out and wisked away. I was being sewn up but no one would tell me about ds. I got in a state. I could also feel the stitches Hmm. They then wouldn't let me leave the bed because of the stitches and I started getting ill again.

3 hours later ds came back looking perfect GrinGrinGrin and I sat there cuddling him.

I was told that we both have a small chance of infection, they needed bloods from both of us and were in for a few days hospital stay for iv antibiotics. So that's where we are at now Smile

He seems perfectly healthy, happy and amazing so am hoping we can go home when the results come back in a day or so Smile

I love him!!

What a long post!

Good to hear from you Ducky. Sorry to hear you had a difficult time, but great to hear you are both doing well. Fingers crossed you are home soon :)

Bugaboom · 08/12/2014 18:39

It's so good to hear from you Ducky and know that your ds is here. Sounds like you had a traumatic time. I hope you are being looked after well and get some rest.
congratulations Flowers

bakingmad83 · 13/12/2014 17:47

Hope you're all well. Just wondered how everyone is getting on?

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow. Nesting seems to have kicked in and thought I was getting a few signs at the start of the week, but probably just late pregnancy discomfort, as didn't come to anything.

Bugaboom · 14/12/2014 18:50

Hi baking 37+2 here. I'm ok, cooking lots so not sure if that's a nesting sign. Lots of Braxton Hicks but had a lot last pregnancy and still went over. Hope everyone is doing ok

bakingmad83 · 15/12/2014 07:09

Glad to hear you're ok Bugaboom. I've been doing a lot of batch cooking, but I think for me that's just trying to be practical so we have a freezer full of meals for the first weeks. More cleaning for me - something I usually hate doing!

Think I got Braxton Hicks for the first time yesterday - felt tight but not painful across bump.

Castlelough · 19/12/2014 04:11

Ducky huge congrats on your little boy! I hope you'll be going home soon. It all sounded very dramatic!

Baking well done on the batch cooking! That's what I was hoping to do too but we STILL haven't moved into the new house Sad. Tomorrow is the big day although I'm quite anxious about it all. None of our furniture has arrived Blush and DH (plumber) still has to sort out running water and the house is filled with sawdust and debris (carpenter finally finished up today)... So much left to be done over the coming weeks, will worry about it then.

Last day at work tomorrow - then maternity leave begins! Grin

Castlelough I can only imagine what a nightmare it must be moving right at the end of pregnancy. Hope the move goes well and you get the house just as you want it before baby arrives.

I finished up work yesterday. Was looking forward to today as thought I could get a few last bits sorted and then relax, but inlaws announced on Wednesday night they were coming to visit, though just for the day at least. My husband did try to suggest to them to maybe hold off, as making two 6 hour round trips within a week or two seems a bit daft, but it's up to them I guess. Midwife said on Monday that she doubts I'll get to 40 weeks, so it would be quite amusing if they had to drive back across at the weekend :)

Bugaboom · 19/12/2014 08:24

Good luck with the move Castle. How many weeks are you now? Enjoy your last day.

I'm 38 weeks today and still waiting for this energy surge to hit. I just want to rest all the time but 2 year old DS has other ideas!

baking my in laws were supposed to visit last week but changed their minds. Maybe yours will do the same?

bakingmad83 · 20/12/2014 07:47

Inlaws did come, but they arrived later than they said and were gone within two hours - seemed a bit of a pointless trip, but it allowed me to get everything done that I originally planned, so I'm not complaining :)

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

LittlePink · 20/12/2014 18:27

I completely lost this thread somehow. Have been hanging out on the January lately. I wondered what happened to this thread but couldn't seem to find it, anyway found it again! 37+6 now. How's everyone doing? Have they're been any births? I'm becoming increasingly impatient now. Not sleeping well at all so figure I might as well have baby here. So uncomfortable at night with whatever position. Got this horrible nerve pain under my left breast so I'm all ready to be done with that and be comfortable at night even if it does mean 2/3 night feeds instead.

bakingmad83 · 21/12/2014 08:00

Sorry to hear you aren't sleeping well and are uncomfortable LittlePink. Any signs that labour might be near?

LittlePink · 21/12/2014 15:59

Not really. I'm not sure. I was awake in night with period like cramps but totally bearable. Was hoping it was the start of something but fell asleep and woke up feeling slightly disappointed! have u had any signs of anything? What's ur due date? I'm 4th jan so still got 2 weeks. I'm just impatient!

bakingmad83 · 21/12/2014 16:05

I've had on and off shooting pains where I imagine my cervix is for around a week now, and also some period like cramps in my stomach and back that come and go. Midwife reckoned on Monday these were all good signs and from baby's position she didn't reckon it would be much longer, but still no sign of him nearly a week later. My due date in 28th, so know potentially there's another 3 weeks, but I've got my hopes up after what she said. Hopefully not too much longer for either of us now :)

LittlePink · 21/12/2014 16:26

Hmm interesting. Forgot to say I've been having lots of shooting pains in cervix but been having those for a while. Mentioned it to mw over a week ago and she didn't even look up from reading my notes. Was willing her to say oh that's great won't be long now but no such luck!

bakingmad83 · 21/12/2014 17:56

I'm hoping she wasn't just saying that to humour me, as I got similar pains during first trimester which I just put down to everything stretching etc. I guess babies come when they're ready, but I suppose by this stage no matter how good or bad a pregnancy you've had you're just eager to meet them :)

CallingAllEngels · 21/12/2014 17:57

Late to the party but saw your name castle (as well as a lot of familiar names from the December and Januray AN threads) and thought I'd pop by and say hi. Hope move went well and hurrah for ML.

39 weeks today and feeling it. I want this baby now!

LittlePink · 21/12/2014 19:29

Hi calling, see you've popped over from jan thread! Welcome!

Bugaboom · 21/12/2014 20:22

Hi all. Similar here, 38+2, sharp cervical pains for a couple of weeks and period pains regularly for 2 hours early this morning... then nothing! Ho hum.

Bugaboom · 24/12/2014 13:36

Any news anyone? My Sunday cramps resulted in nothing so now hoping baby stays put until next week. Anyone looking likely to have a Christmas day baby? Xmas Smile

CallingAllEngels · 24/12/2014 14:01

39+3 here. Just had mw appt and baby engaged. Booked in for a sweep on Tuesday at 40+2.

bakingmad83 · 24/12/2014 15:29

Nothing new here. I've got a sweep booked for 28th, even though midwife was sure I wouldn't need it - think she's jinxed it by saying that though :)

Hope everyone enjoys tomo, well as much as you can when so close to due date :)

LittlePink · 24/12/2014 16:40

Not looking likely to have a xmas day baby. Hoping not anyway as don't want to miss being with dd. Got sweep booked same day as you calling. I'll be 39+2. Mw said its a good time to start them as baby is engaged and in a good position. Want to avoid section and have Vbac. If I haven't gone spontaneously by 41 wks it'll be an elcs hence them suggesting early sweeps to get things moving.

Castlelough · 25/12/2014 06:18

Happy Christmas ladies ! Smile
And welcome Engels - so nice to see you!
Sorry for absence! We got moved into the new house, which was followed by some frantic nesting! Am now feeling a little more prepped for baby's arrival!
Am 38+3 and going to have a sweep at next appointment @40+1. Am booked in for an induction @41 weeks if I haven't gone by myself before then. Would love to get through to the new year before baby arrives...fingers crossed!

Lovely to read how you are all getting on. Xxx
